      I still think the 8(a) program is the best, but remember you don't have to pick just one certification, you can apply for every certification you qualify for

    It’s a very useful suggestion to search the set asides beforehand. I’m living in CA, so with that as a Place of Performance filter, I’m not seeing so many items for Women, economically disadvantaged, 8A. Very interesting. Also seeing “active” contracts from 2018 with due dates to match. Not sure what that’s about. For example, N3904021Q0107 wants RFQs, but also says the award goes to DC Legacy LLC and due date was in 2020. What gives…?!?! PS. Love your channel. 💕

    • @FedAccess
      @FedAccess  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The government fiscal year ends Sept 30, and lots of contracts are issued in September for an October 1st start date. There are fewer contracts out for bid this time of year. Try looking at Award Notices to see what's been awarded in the past year. Also, you're right, they don't seem to be good about updating the Active status. You should search FPDS, if you haven't already. I have a video that walks you through how to do that.

    • @maryannmiami
      @maryannmiami 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FedAccess Thanks for all the info and the quick reply! I’ve been taking notes on everything. Sam is more intuitive than FPDS but I’m playing around in both!

    I was surprised when you pulled the data of the woman owned businesses and it was such a small percentage. I recently hired someone to get me certifications so now that I have completed that process (documentation only) I really need to understand what to focus on. How long it takes for the certifications to be issued and what certifications I will be receiving. How can I figure out what certification I will be getting and how to strategize for contracts in my industry? I have an appointment with a SCORE mentor and I want to transfer the information properly.

    • @FedAccess
      @FedAccess  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Each certification has its own application process. You can apply for WOSB certification and for 8a certification. Those are two separate applications. You can learn more at the sba website, certify.sba.gov. is your business new? For the 8a program, they generally want you to have been in business for 2 years. There is no time in business requirement for the WOSB program.

    • @elishevaroth3591

      @@FedAccess My business was created Oct. 2021 and in December I paid someone on TH-cam an amount (wasn't a small amount of money for me) to handle the documentation for the business. I was given a checklist so I simply uploaded the documents. Now, that I am finished with that process I signed up for a SCORE mentor and they encouraged me to work on Cap. Statement and to attend matchmaking events. So my question is, how long does it usually take for the certification to be issued once documentation is completed and how can I verify that it's pending? The certs that I should be getting are SAM.gov (federal) WOSB when your SAM is active (federal), DBE with your state department of transportation and your state small business program (whatever program they have), and the city program (whatever is in your city if any). I just want to confirm with those agencies.

    • @FedAccess
      @FedAccess  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@elishevaroth3591 Since you can't apply for WOSB until your SAM registration is active, the first step is to check on your SAM registration. Go to SAM.gov and Sign In (click the Sign In button on the top right of the website). Then click on Workspace. Take a look at what it says under Entities. Does it show an active registration? Hopefully you will see your business. If you don't see it here, click on Search, and then under Select Domain, click on Entity Information. Search for your business. Do you find your business listed?

      You still need to apply for the SBA certification at the website beta.certify.sba.gov. it's not too difficult, but you do need to go through the process to get the WOSB certification.

    I work at Boeing, as a Government Contractor with clearance. Can I open my small business and start government contracting after my office hours, from home? My motive is to generate second income. Please elaborate as well. Thanks for the wonderful video, and great content.

    • @FedAccess
      @FedAccess  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That will depend in part on Boeing's policies. Do they allow such activities? Do they require that you request permission in advance? Check also on the rules regarding your clearance. It is great that you have the skills and knowledge! Good luck!

    My product deals with employee development, is there any incentive for primaries to purchase from small businesses that's not directly associated with the fulfillment of a government contract?

    • @FedAccess
      @FedAccess  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A large government contractor does do employee development, and since the employees are working on a government contract, money awarded to a small business should count toward their small business goals.

    • @Mazel_Tov_888
      @Mazel_Tov_888 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FedAccess That's great news. I was under the impression primes only worked with subs in conjunction with the performance of a specific contract for the govt. Boeing has huge govt contracts, although I don't supple air plane parts but I do supply employee development , they may purchase from my company to meet their small business goals. Thank you for educating us.

    Are SBA Certifications limited to only Minority, Women, Veteran, and HUB certs, or can a small business get certified simply as a small business, not necessarily falling under any particular diversity category?
