I found the love of my life when I turned forty , had 35 amazing years together , she died in my arms a few months ago , this song brought the tears again .
Another response deleted. What I was saying was my wife and I have been married for 31 1/2 years. It's not always easy for either of us. The love we have for each other's not always touchy-feely. But, it requires something called commitment. There have been things that have made us want to give up but... My favorite use of this song was in the movie "Mr and Mrs Smith" with Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. I won't give any spoilers, but the movie is fun.
He (Russell) sang this song in a single take - 1 go (as per their interview). And later Jim Steiman said, what do we do now, to which Russell said we go home!
My brother has been married for 61 years and I remember I met them one time for a weekend when they were married for 44 years. We said our goodbyes and I watched them walk away from me and they grabbed each others hand and walked away. I thought wow you two are lucky and very cute.
Been married to the same woman for 34.5 years and together for 36 years and are still madly in love with 3 kids. I let things move at her speed and about 18 months were a long distance thing. It takes give and take, and no fights.
This is one of my favorite songs of all time!! This is a Jim Steinman song. He wrote most of the songs for Meatloaf. Around the time that "Making Love Out of Nothing At All" came out, several other artists recorded some of his songs. Barry Manilow did "Read 'Em And Weep", Barbra Streisand did "Left In the Dark", Bonnie Tyler recorded "Total Eclipse of the Heart", and Jim Steinman himself, released "Rock And Roll Dream Come Through".
Carol and I were dating and married when this song was popular are now celebrating 46 years! Your Tennessee friend, low bass Kenneth! Great song, great review!
Composed by Jim Steinman (Meatloaf's primary composer) along w/ several hits by other artists such as Celine Dion, Bonnie Tyler, & Barry Manilow (& a few others outside of Meatloaf). He was known for writing epic (& epically longer) songs like Bat Out of Hell & I'd Do Anything For Love (,But I Won't Do That) & plenty others. (L-handed guitarist's strap goes over the R shoulder. He's a lefty - like me).
My partner and I have been together 30 years this July. Have had a few rough spots but laughing and making fun of our relationship is what makes ours work. Gonna be for the test of our lives.
2025 marks 19 years married and 24 years together for my wife and I. We've been through it. Ups and downs, to be sure. The worst part was losing children. But, we have a couple of AMAZING grandkids who have made my life more complete than I ever thought possible. My wife gave me those beautiful babies. My parents were married just shy of 32 years when my father passed. This year will be 20 years that he's been gone, and my mom still loves him. He was the love of her life. As for Air Supply? I have been a huge fan almost my entire life. Their music is SO special for so many. And this song screams Jim Steinman! Its perfect.
Married 8 years, but been in each other's lives for 39 years. Here is the number one thing I've learned: Love IS an emotion, but love lived out loud is a choice. You wake up every day and you choose to love that person who is your other half, and for most of us men, your BETTER half, day in and day out. Older generations didn't have MORE love, or BETTER love, but they may have loved more and loved better, due to the level of their commitment to that choice to love, despite petty differences, misunderstandings, hurt feelings... If you give up watering a field just because it doesn't seem worth it, the field produces no crop, but....if you water it faithfully and diligently, despite your belief it 'may' be hopeless.... you get a harvest unlike anything you could ever imagine.
Well, since you ASK ... Met Paula in April of 1973, in Central Park (NYC). She stopped to admire my impeccable guitar playing (or as she tells it, my blond Guild G-37). I lost my place in "Salty Dog" when I noticed she wore nothing beneath that tank top... We saw many of the acts your review live -- Tull (3X), Grateful Dead (Fillmore East, American Beauty tour), blah blah blah. And here we sit, as she says: "Do you want to respond, or should I?" Won't say there haven't been a few bumps, but all in all, I can't imagine any way my life could have been better.
Darn it. I missed this live. I'm at the very beginning. I hope Jim Steinman gets credit for writing this Masterpiece. Maggie I hope to hear you do Someone to Watch Over Me again after you fully learn it. It really is one of the most iconic songs ever.
FWIW - Been with my wife 33 years now. Relationships change over time. I still love my wife with all my heart, but I don't love her in the same way as I did 30 years ago. Word to the wise - don't try to force the love to stay in the same shape as it was when you first met. As it is now, it's a never-ending slumber party with my best friend in the world.
Agreed! I've been married for 31 years, it's not always easy; but love includes the not-so easy part. Friends at church told her that she deserves a medal for putting up with me... 😂 There are times when that sentiment goes both ways. My favorite use of this song is in the movie "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. I'm not going to give spoilers. But, if you haven't seen the movie it's fun
Relationships are not all sunshine and buttercups... relationships are work, there are disagreements, there are arguments... there is hurt... there are changes... but there is redemption, there is forgiveness, there is care, there is love. There is a reason the vows acknowledge the reality of a fallen world:
s had lots hits in 70s n 80s, rusel can sing, still touring, my fav lost in love. wrote ver own songs but i tink vis one was writen by jim steinman- as in meatloaf songwriter n others.
Graham Russell is on a left handed guitar 🎸. Some left handed players for comparison: late Jimi Hendrix, Sir Paul McCartney, Elliott Easton. Written by the late Jim Steinman in 1983. In the same year, he wrote Total Eclipse of the Heart ❤. RIP, 2021. Similar to Everything I Do I Do It for You. Bryan Adams, the main writer of this song, put a short eulogy on the day of death of Jim Steinman. Roy Bittan on keyboards. Max Weinberg on drums. They are from the E Street Band, the band of Bruce Springsteen. Rock Derringer on lead guitar 🎸. The next year, he played the solo in Eat It. Suggested videos 📹: 1 Air Supply performs Even the Nights Are Better 2 Bryan Adams sings Everything I Do I Do It for You.
Maggie... I have followed your channel since "The Sound of Silence" - Disturbed. You asked about long relationships, well here is one for you: 45 years ago I met a skinny little redhead with naturally curly hair and we didn't like each other for 4 years of High School until the end... The last time I touched her I held her in my arms for a moment before I left the next day for a state a thousand miles away. I didn't realize until about 10 years later that since that first day when I was 12 I had thought about her every single day. For the four years of High School with all the music classes we shared I couldn't help but fight with her at least once a day... when I was 27 and my first marriage ended I realized that even though I had been married happily most of that time, for some reason I always thought about weather she would approve of what I did each day, or wondered if she was happy. after 46 years 4 months and 5 days I still think of her like I did just now. We have reconnected through social media and live in the same area again for the last 15 years... but we have not seen each other since that high school graduation day. I don't know if we ever will because we know If ever I hold her in my arms again ... I will never let go, never ever... This was our song, and I wish that you find this kind of love someday and when you do... don't ever let go... all the fighting was about the two of us caring so much for each other we kept pushing each other to do/be better... her name was M. T. and my heart would be eMpTy without her, Making Love out of Nothing at All.
I absolutely love this song and Air Supply. My first marriage lasted almost 24 years until he decided the grass was greener on the other side. I was shattered. We had 2 boys, and this was very hard on them. As luck would have a few years later I met my current husband, He had lost his first to a brain aneurysm< we were meant for each other. We are going to have our 17th wedding anniversary. I am more than blessed. God is good! Love your reaction!
Had a 15 year marriage that ended up being a Jerry Springer episode. One way soulmate scenario... Never recovered... Hermit 20+ years now... Still love her... Any attempt at starting again feels like I am cheating on her. Gave up...
Sounds like a Meatloaf belter being sung an octave high. Also notice the left-handed guitarist - like McCartney. My theory about the film clip is that - not to be unkind - neither of those guys is heart-throb material... so you supply the eye candy in a story film clip.
I love this song, but more because it’s Jim Steinman than Air Supply. When you really look into the lyrics it’s an incredible picture of power and need.
I’ve been in a very happy relationship for 30 years. There is no one in the world I’d rather spend my time with. We made a pact in the beginning of our relationship that breaking up was not an option. We’d either work through an issue or make each other’s lives hell. I believe that is the secret to our marriage, that and no secrets, we tell each other everything. I believe nothing, and no one, will ever come between us.
I was a kid when this came out, had a crush on a neighborhood girl. Hated seeing her dating a loser. But guess what? We saw each other in college and have been married since. I love this song!
Maggie, a commenter on another reactor to this song said that what he picked at the table was a baby pacifier. That's why he got mad. She was telling him that she was pregnant.
My wife Kerri (pictured with me in the thumbnail) and I started our friendship in Oct. 1996. We were talking every day and hanging out when I realized I was falling in love with her on July 4th 1997 and asked her to be my girlfriend, and I was lucky, and she said yes. Due to weird circumstances, we ended up moving in together on Aug. 1 1997. I unfortunately don't remember the date I asked her to marry, I was expecting a not yet when I asked, but she said yes. From Jan. 22 1999 til her passing 6/7/2022 we were together and in love through some incredibly difficult times. I don't socialize much since she passed and haven't had any romantic interests since, and I don't expect any anytime soon.
Always hated this video. It has nothing really to do with the song or the meaning of the song. In fact, I think this video distracts from the quality and story of the song......
This was not typical of their sound. Typically, Graham Russell would come in soft for the verse, and then Russell Hitchcock would power his way through the chorus. That was the formula for their early big hits (All Out Of Love, Every Woman In The World, Lost In Love) until at some point they realized it was Hitchcock's voice that was selling the records. A couple of their later ones with Hitchcock clearly out front(this one, and The One That You Love) were their biggest hits, but I really think moving Graham Russell to the background hurt the actual quality of the music, even if the girls were going nuts for Hitchcock.
Love some Air Supply but I can think of songs I like better. But thanks for the reaction! ❤️ And he IS a left handed guitarist. Hubby & I just celebrated 39 years of wedded, mostly, bliss! I wouldn't change a thing. 😊
I really like this song but not this video. There was an older one that was better. But better still would have been just a plain video of a live performance. I saw them in concert twice and they were electrifying performers.

Music is best listened to, not watched. Videos are often horribly out of sync with the song. Especially this video. Best way to react to music is to listen to the studio version without video. Pure music.

I'm sorry for your loss. I know exactly how you feel. My wife died in my arms at our home in 2020. I see the life leave her eyes everyday in my mind.
Once you've heard a couple of songs composed by Jim Steinman, you can identify them as easily as a John Williams movie score.
He (Russell) sang this song in a single take - 1 go (as per their interview). And later Jim Steiman said, what do we do now, to which Russell said we go home!
Always HATED this song (not really) because I really wanted to be able to cover it, but no amount of transposing could make it possible. 🥲
The one that you love has his greatest vocal performance

Air Supply are the kings of love ballads...nothing better
I totally agree. I loved Air Supply when they were popular, they had so many good songs. All out of Love is my favorite.
Married 33 years and going strong. She’s still my best friend and can’t imagine life without her!
Just saw them in concert in 2024. Still just as amazing.
All out of love and every woman in the world are fantastic!! Please try them🤩
As much as I love this All out of Love is there best.

My love and I were married for 51 years until she went to heaven. I still love her today. We were always together and always happy

Very well said sir. My late wife of 32 years and I would concur completely. Love was a commitment more than a feeling.
Me being a metalhead this is a certified banger 💯🔥
We played Two Less Lonely People in the World by Air Supply as our wedding song 36 years ago. Still together and going strong (No Kids)

I'm more a rock/metal guy but I got a lot of the 70's pop bands like Bread, Air Supply, America, Ambrosia etc.

Sweet Dreams is hauntingly amazing and the most underrated Air Supply song. Please react!
The lead singer is Russel Hitchcock
Happily single for 69 years.

53 years of loving relationship
After 37 years of being wed… I’m starting to get adjusted to married life.
next song should be: Just as I Am. another great ballad!
Bonnie Tyler did a version 12 years later in 1995 and it was nearly 8 minutes long and more epic 😊
Air Supply - "All Out of Love" ;-)
Their best song.
Yes
My 2nd marriage was great . Marriage 40 yrs before his death. 5 kids
