      sorry, you're braver than I am, soon as a person started with the BS I'd tell them to take a hike. I had one dicking me around last spring so I told him (politely) that he can keep the design I did for him but to get someone local to make it for him.
      The issue was: I spent hours designing a sign, we were JUST choosing the colour of the letters and suddenly, this had to change that had to change he wanted to add someone in a kayak with a dog on the front and the sky to be different...I said, but we had everything finalized? "well, I asked blah blah and they suggested all this" Me: well you should have asked blah blah before I finalized the design. Now I have to go back and literally change everything. The price is now $100 more. I"M NOT PAYING THAT. Ok, well, keep the design I sent you and get someone else to do it, I'm not wasting any more of my time.

    As a car dealer myself for the last 20 years, it's hard not to become cynical with customers constantly mucking you around and lying to you. Seems they can do and say anything they want, while we are held to the highest standard possible. You constantly have to cover yourself in everything you say and do. Gets exhausting sometimes.

      I did that business for 15 years. It was constant headaches and issues. It made me not trust people and cover my ass with everything. I learned how to read people within seconds. You need to stereotype people in your head and judge based on their lingo. Only way to survive and prepare to be taken advantage of.

    As an independent small dealer myself, i have 0 qualms repoing a car myself, and as a master mechanic i can look over a car in 5 minutes including a quick scan, and tell a person atremting to trade a turd in that theyre not getting anything for that car. Im a mechanic first, a dealer second. Sure, ive lost money, and had some ridiculous situations (prostitues smoking weed in my car then trying to steal it) , just gotta cya and really not let business get under your skin. Watching Craig's problems at Dealer auction's when the cars Check Engine light goes on minutes after he buys the car, or suddenly the car can't go in reverse, makes me laugh to know that Used Car Dealers have to watch out for Car Dealers as much as they do Car customers.

      @leaddawg4983 yep. Used to work in a big Ford stealership. I heard the low things said about people trying to buy a vehicle behind closed doors. The keeping the extra keys that cost 300 to 600 to replace, the readjusted loan terms always meant to milk the buyer. The lying about the apr rates and payments. The lying about the extras tacked onto the sale.. its good he makes these vids. But keep in mind there are 2 sides to the stories and the truth in the middle. In the end they are fastly depreciating pieces of metal that the banks win money over financially until they are crushed n melted to scrap to be remade again. Even crashed n totaled cars are very shady with the money they rake in from copart auctions. But tgats another story

  • @tamwy19
    @tamwy19 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    In all fairness, let's be honest it's not just the customers that are not telling the truth. It's also the used car dealer ships that are not telling the truth. Because God forbid like you always say you guys do not divulge every little thing either on the cars. Yes, there is Carfax and yes and also car check. But in all my years dealing with buying cars new or used car dealership people are all friendly they're all like up in your face they want to know how your life is you want to know your kids they want to know your wife or husband or whatever the case may be but once they have that money in their hands it's literally F you don't bother me. You guys are not honest with your cars either. Yes, we have to ask the right questions and yes, it's a good idea to go get your car checked out by your mechanic or a mechanic that all those facts are true, I get it. But when you have a salesperson like I said that is interested in your life asking how the kids how's the wife how's your work going and thinking that they're the best friend ever in the whole world and then you give him that check that you financed from your credit union or the bank and they don't answer the phone calls just secretary says oh he just sent out for a minute he'll get back to you so you know it works both ways.

    It sucks but almost no one with shit credit ever blames themselves. It's always someone else's fault or this one mistake they made when they were young, but in reality it's always years of bad habits and personal choices they made knowingly. I feel sorry for people who work in used car dealerships because I'm sure 90% of the people getting 10-20% interest loans are basically borderline criminals, they're not above lying, cheating and stealing because that's how they got to where they are.

    • @joewelnack3283
      @joewelnack3283 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Well, I charge 23.9%, so maybe I am a borderline criminal. The only thing I can think of in my defense is that I have NEVER repo'd a car that was clean! In addition, empty beer cans, blunt burns and scratch off lotto tickets are the rule, not the exception. My customers are not totally worthless, they can always serve as a bad example. Sorry, but I failed to mention that 95% of the time they are also smokers of cigarettes or maybe crack, my shrink tells me that after 54 years of this it may be time to retire.

    Coming from a 3rd world country, I've seen a bunch of crook dealers in South Florida and I was a victim a few times until I learned in the hard way. I always keep my credit score in good standing shape, never went bankrupt, never went over 40% of my line of credit or credit limit and always paid my bills online. Seen many good people been taken advantage of because they were immigrants, a friend of work who didn't speak a good english, was given a maximum of an insane 29,9% APR on his first Honda Civic DX he bought brand new because he had no credit history but had a good income and was a very responsible person. In my case, after a couple of misadventures that went south with large used dealerships in South Florida, I went to largest dealer with one of the best reputation in Miami and I got 13.99% APR on my 1st brand new vehicle(kia sedona EX) for a 60 months loan and 2K down, then 10.99% APR on my 2nd vehicle (Kia Sorento EX) and zero down and then 1.9% APR on a 15K miles BWM X3 with full warranty from BMW itself and 48 months to pay.

    It's not even 2 minutes into this video, and already I would buy a car from you, _IF I was going to use a dealership._ I prefer buying used cars (I will _never_ buy new) from individuals. It's hard to find a dealer I can trust. I did get my last car from a dealer, however, a 2013 VW Golf Turbo Diesel. Apparently hard to sell because it's red, a diesel, a 2 door, and a manual transmission. It was also part of the VW "diesel gate" lawsuit. I had it inspected by a VW mechanic and got it cheap because it was on the lot for a long time. It was in excellent condition with 63K miles. I love the car & have been all over the country many times in it. I get 47 MPG on the highway after disabling the DPF & EGR. I'm about to physically remove these parts which _should_ get my MPG well over 50 MPG. Damn fun to drive, too. Anyway, where is "Flying Wheels?" You'll be my first choice next time I buy a car! Fantastic videos!

I worked for a very large mortgage company during the SISA (stated income/stated asset) loan period with everyone jumping on the train and saying they basically made 3x, 4x, 5x, or more than they really did. I wasn't signing those loans off, but 5 years later I was part of a team buying those loans back at 10 cents on the dollar because banks were burning down.

    Question for Flying Wheels , Don't you car dealers sell used cars AS IS and when a Transmission goes out you claim not responsible because it was sold AS IS? So, why you're crying when a seller does the same to you guys and for example The water pump goes out on you? What goes around , comes around.🚙😉

    And it's ridiculous nowadays the prices they're asking for used cars!! Is there excuse is well that's what the market is now. Yes just another excuse for them to jack up prices just because everyone else is doing it doesn't mean you have to follow suit. The middle class is always the ones that suffer we are the ones that are always getting the bad end of every freaking deal in america. We have to deal with Rising food costs, Rising gas costs insurance and so on and so forth. So what does the used car dealerships do they just make it worse by asking a ridiculously amount of money for these used cars. I get it I'm not opposed for people putting food on the table and paying their bills I get it. But it's like the Housing Industry and the rental industry everyone's doing it so why not me why don't I hike up for rent a ridiculously amount have money even though I know that person can't afford it.

    *** Am I a Dic* for doing this to a used car dealership?*** Several years ago I purchased a used 4Runner with over 100k at a small used car lot in MA. The thing was overall nice but it had visible small holes in the muffler, the E-brake didn't hold the vehicle in a stopped position and the drivers side mirror was cracked up with half of it missing. I negotiated about 1k off the price based on those issues and paid cash in full. So it obviously failed the safety inspection a few days later. The mechanic who failed me educated me on MA used car dealer laws and told me I should take it back to the dealer and force them to do the repairs for free to pass the inspection. They did and I ended up with a new muffler, new e-brake which actually ended up being new rear brakes for some reason and a drivers side mirror. The dealership was not pleased with me but I ended up not only getting the 1k off the initial price but they had to do the repairs for free as well. Was I a Dic* for pushing them to do those additional repairs for free even though I initially used those flaws to get the original 1k discount? The logic I had at the time was...... what kind of car dealer sells a vehicle with a broken drivers side mirror and no e-brake? I mean they should have know that the thing was going to fail inspection, right? To clarify, at the time of purchase it was an 8 year old vehicle.

    When I did subprime (only did subprime) in MA we got lots of NH and ME customers. They never left without the deal finalized. It would be a three day process, come in and sign, wait until I am funded and you need to come back to us to pickup. When you pay your bills you get car same time. When you dont you wait. Cant trust 99.9% of these deals. NH is so lax with titles, with the ladies at the town hall you need to call and verify leinholders because they just leave them off often

    No money down, less than $300/mo .... on a Ferrari ... insane. Some people really are living in la-la land.
    And as you said, it's the same everywhere at the moment - every industry, there are people trying to scam and rip off other good people. I work in custom software, and we can quote and spec a system down to a point - deliver on every milestone, and the client will change their mind last minute and expect us to foot the bill for the changes they requested. I learnt early in this industry, everything in writing, no handshakes, no verbal agreements, all work is defined in the contract, everything else is PER HOUR unless negotiated.
    Not to mention, hiring more staff has become almost possible, with many applicants getting coaching for interviews, so they pass your coding tests and interviews, but once they get on the tools - they are completely useless - at larger companies they could survive for months before getting axed. We even had a certain hire present certifications from overseas, which we took with a grain of salt, and naturally later found out the "university" was essentially a pay-for-degree service with included coaching.

They wonder why they get hit with high interest. The bank takes the risk the first month, after that if a payment hasn’t been made, the dealer eats shit and has to find the car, buy back the loan, and try to reapply for a new title. Big shit show, so it’s not always “scummy dealers” it’s subprime customers and banks.

    I'm enjoying your videos but have to say, it's going to take a bit more to get me to feel sorry for a used car dealer!
    As for your loan and credit stories, a friend of mine used to live his entire life on unpaid loans.
    In the UK debt payment was chased down using the post codes attached to those debts. A post code covers maybe a dozen addresses. So once he'd racked up twenty or thirty thousand pounds in debt he would just move to a different rental property under a different post code and spell his name differently from then on.
    He was quite proud of his lifestyle, boasting that when the debt collectors came after him his creditors were usually happy to take a ten percent payment to write off the debt, effectively wiping his record clean. As you said about selling the cars that have been on the lot a long time, sometimes anything is better than nothing.
    Dude - can't believe you took the van and didn't even drive it! Just a spin around the block would have flagged that it was overheating!
    Love the Goldwing. Had one 30 years ago - talk about easy riding!

    I ran a big used dealership in NH for 15 years. Nh was awful part of my life. I have seen every scam in the book by customers. From stolen cars trying to be sold, fake money to buy my cars, to fake names and ID’s, to murderers buying them, swapping engines and trans then returning, Fake credit cards, etc.
    I was so glad when we shut down.
    Everyone thinks you as a dealer makes the car and make 100 percent profit. So nobody cares about the dealer making a living. They have no clue on how business works. Low education buys budget cheap used cars. Dealing with low life’s is stressful.
    Now I’m dealing with millionaires and have never had an issue for 15 years. No scams. Real people. No haggling. No hate. Only great friends to be made. I get huge tips and huge gifts from customers.
    It’s not the business, it’s the people. If they have low IQ, you are brought to their level of games. Very low.
