i really REALLY recommend that your first fangan be one like defiance or redemptionronpa. they spice things up with their own motives and new ideas, but with characters you’re used to. it’s a good place to start. they’re on instagram and youtube.
One of my favorite fanganronpa characters that’s actually in a game is Yuki Maeda. Because of mainly his mood swings after his crush dies and also how his tone shifts after that. Before he is a complete and utter bean though. I mean especially after he was being said to be the reason the KG existed in the first place he kind of took that, way too seriously. But then so did the other person who did try to kill him beforehand sooooo- he was completely okay with being killed though- also he’s also the only character that has physically hurt my heart before from one single scene. If you’ve watched or played the game you can probably figure it out.

The Ballerina has a prosthetic arm thanks to an accident when she was younger) Musical actress, Historian, Ghost hunter, (Another Irish Transfer student and childhood friends of the violinist Toy Maker (Has a doll that looks just like her) Story Teller, Poet, Journalist, Ventriloquist, Poi Spinner (Fun fact, her parents ran a travelling circus which is how she learned her talent to begin with), Pilot, Fashion Designer, Social Media Star, Sailor, Doll Customizer (Like those people on youtube who make custom dolls), Cover artist (Song covers), Crafter (As in arts and crafts, DIY etc), Figure Skater, Roller Derby Champion, Parkour Artist, True Crime Fanatic (Her talent is literally having an excessive knowledge of true cries throughout history, especially unsolved ones) DJ

No art for this but here’s my character: Zetsubou no Okami: God of Despair The true mastermind behind everything that happened involving the Hope’s Peak incident, Zetsubou-no-Okami is hell-bent on recreating the world in his image, but to do so, he needed a vessel. One day, he discovered the 11-year-old Junko Enoshima, an orphan living on the streets with nowhere to go and no hope of life. Zetsubou took advantage of her broken psyche and possessed her mind soul, turning her into the psychopath we know and hate. Zetsubou is often associated with bears as his symbol, thus providing the inspiration for Monokuma. He also has a form called “Ankokuma,” a monokuma with both sides being the despair side and having the trademark red eyes. His true form, however, resembles a gigantic, spiky-haired, bat-winged humanoid made of black smoke with glowing red eyes (think Lucifer from SMT Nocturne). Zetsubou appears as the final opponent, with the bullet time battle involving gathering enough hope energy to shoot him down while also deflecting his dark energy balls. Zetsubou’s execution is called, “The True Final Act,” where the heroes, and the rest of the world, do a sort-of kamehameha made of hope energy and blast the evil god across space into a black hole. As he struggles to escape the gravity well, the beam suddenly impales him through the heart and shatters his core, a ball of darkness, and he is ripped apart as he falls into the black hole, ending the legacy of despair for good.

The first Fangans you should play is Danganronpa Another Despair Academy (DRA) then Super Danganronpa Another 2 (SDRA2) as they are both complete and mostly translated. I'm not sure about SDRA2, but for DRA the main story and class trials are translated fully but some miscellaneous text and most of the FTE are unfortunately still in Korean. You can still get through the main story without many issues. For DRA, the installation may be a little tricky as it's engine is a older version of rpgmaker but it's playable. Hyper Danganronpa H2o is also complete but people don't like Fangan. There are so few fangan games that are complete.
