Byakuya: Not trusting others, but grows in the end to trust and live with his friends. Nagito: Not trusting others, and tries to take them all out with him. Kokichi: Not trusting others and takes himself out while trying to save everyone else. I just thought it was neat to point out.
Junko kidnapped Byakuya’s personal butler. Considering that he was always competing with his half-siblings to please his father, his butler was probably the closest thing he had to a genuine companion in his life.
Byakuya and Makoto's bromance is phenomenal, homies helping each other out. Also when he smiled at Yasuhiro when he found him outside the Future Foundation HQ I was just like "😭 that's my dawg man"

He was the kidnapped victim for byakuya’s motive.
As a Byakuya stan I kind of have an explanation for his actions in chapter 2. Simply put, he knew about Genocide Jack, her victim patterns, and knew that he would probably be made a target. Now, he wasn't the most trust worthy so people would surely accuse him if lying if he just said it so he crafted a scenario for her to out herself on his own. By making both Genocide Jacks presence, and her style of murder public knowledge, he's possibly spared both himself and several other students from death at her hands, since if she used the same techniques it could now be traced back. That's my explanation anyway
My favourite arc will always be fuyuhiko's but hearing you explain his honestly made me realise he was nt just a terrible guy. I always found him to be a funny very memeable character rather than a threat (I know all the male antags are like that but togami especially) but seeing him change so much without me even realising is amazing. Byakuya is good rich man even if he was a brat who meddles with courpses
You can also see his development through dialogue. It's subtle but it's there. In the epilogue of THH, Hiro offers the others if they want there fortunes told he'd come, Byakuya does say he'd be annoyed by agrees to let him come by if anything were to come up.(whether or if he bothers listening) In both Ultra Despair girls/SDR2 in the Epilogues, he says similar lines to Makoto, "Guess i'll fight alongside you for a little while longer." Though it's said a little more sincerely in Ultra Despair Girls(though that could be the mood in both Epilogues) Though these lines do show that he does like the presence of the others and doesn't mind them being around, even if it annoys him sometimes.(which is an improvement from how he was in the beginning of the 1st game.
I highly recommend reading the Togami light novels for more insight on Byakuya's character, including what happened in the fight to become heir. I haven't finished them yet, but WOW. He was already my favorite character, and that increased tenfold by the time I read about his winning his place as heir.

I’ve always loved Byakuya as a character. Like, dude got knocked from his pedestal just to bounce back in a more positive and thus powerful way, always there to help others out. He’s become so much more than when he started out, and also became less cold. One can’t help but appreciate him.
More people need to see this. I wish people knew a bit more about his development because I personally think he has the best development in all the games. It wasn’t too outright and completely obvious and it wasn’t completely subtle either which is kinda the problem I have with fuyuhiko’s development. If I had to guess, Togami's intention in framing Fukawa was in order to expose Syo given if anyone in that situation was going to be killed by her and she was far less likely to kill him if her history was publicly known, he likely expected that it would have gotten Fukawa to leave him alone.
Yeah like she was stalking him. She even legit made delusions of them being together and tried to convince the class of them... Togami was dealing with a stalker who was delusional and also a serial killer - and he needed to out her so she couldn't potentially kill someone and get away with it.
i feel like byakuya purposely tampered with the crime scene in chapter 2 is because he wanted to expose toko so that everyone would know shes a serial killer and since toko and syo dont share memories she wouldnt even know if syo killed or not

I’m currently in a killing game, and up until I found your video I was hating on one specific character that acted just like Togami. And not even a minute into your video did the admin reveal that their character had trust issues like Togami. You have a magic touch, and I’m giving you a follow.
Byakuya is a character i liked throughout his character arc. I think disrespecting the dead is a small price to pay for revealing a very much living threat to the class. A littke fucked, but i can understand his reasoning for his actions in trial two (which is funny because Kokichi did something similar, he stole evidence and used it as blackmail to reveal an assasin - which is honestly within Byakuya's character to do that if he could even.) It's also worth noting that Togami was mostly right in DR1. Sayaka tried to kill Leon and frame Makoto. Leon killed Sayaka. Mondo killed Chirio and then tried to get away with it (even if it meant Ishimaru's death). Hifumi killed Ishimaru, who was then double betrayed by Celeste. Not to mention Hagukura & Fukawa believed the each killed Sakura and tried to hide it. A lot of the characters were willing to kill for selfish reasons. Most of the so called "bonds of friendship" held water like a broken sieve. Compare that to Aoi willing to take everyone to the grave with her, in order to honour Sakura (as she thought) and still have a ratio of like 6:1. I appreciate that he didn't change into a paragon nice guy like say Fuyuhiko after chapter 2. It was much more in character, for Togami to still maintain a lot of cynicism towards relationships and his main motivation being killing the mastermind is what carried him through the rest of the game.
Also, chapter 5. Who was he suspicious of? Kirigiri. Who ends up trying to get an innocent classmate killed in chapter 5? Kirigiri. (And in the anime, instead of Byakuya being the one to directly accuse Makoto, it's Kyoko accusing him. Byakuya even says "I knew Naegi wasn't guilty" in the anime when Makoto's execution fails)

Tbh I have never understood why Shinobu Togami isnt the captive member in UDG in Danganronpa: Togami she is the other main character is Byakuya and just from the fact that Sonia Nebamiando is the main villain we can deduce that the story takes place near the same time as Ultra Despair Girls and Ultra Despair Hagakure, and oddly enough Shinobu is one of 4 characters whose statuses are listed as unknown the other 3 being Haiji Towa, then Takumi Hijirihira and Misaki Asano (the latter 2 being the protagonists from gaiden:killer killer) I personally choose to belive that she is alive and also she is a cyborg so she has that
spoilers for the Danganronpa Togami trilogy: I do agree, however at the end of the book series, it is revealed that his memories of her were stolen in the same way his school memories were. He was given an offer, aid the Remnants and essentially become the king of the world but Shinobu will die, or he will lose many memories relating to his talent and he will be a victim to the despair and forget his sister exists but she will be able to live; he chose the latter then his memory of even choosing to save her was taken from him too, her living on was the most important thing to him. Those memories of her *could* be recovered, considering the Future Foundation was able to give the THH survivors their memories back, however at the time of the killing game, Byakuya unfortunately thought he was entirely alone minus Pennyworth. Shinobu is implied to still be alive by the end of the novel trilogy, and she could have survived the trilogy, so one could hope that they could eventually be reunited. I apologise for rambling.
Junko kidnapped someone that worked for Togami but not any of his family junko kidnapped his butler since he was the only one who acknowledged byakuya and believed in him he believed byakuya could take over the togami's buis
He literally explained at the end of chapter 2 that he did it to sus out which people are actually competent and how much he needs to watch out and keep tabs on them. Strategically, this is actually not a bad plan. Change my mind, I guess? :D…
I admit, I do love the change here and I've been having a laugh watching a friend of mine playing through the first game and HATING Byakuya with every fiber of her being. Of course I'm keeping stuff a secret, especially as she's not only just arrived at Sakura's trial where things get VERY interesting.
At 1st when I started the game I disliked Togami but soon as a grew more into the fandom and learn about his pass I couldn't help feel sad about him. And now since he grew on me he became one of my favorite characters 🥲
I understand why people like him and togami's charecter was amazing to see develop although I'm not a huge fan of him. Chapter 2 really ruined him for me since I feel like it could of been handled differently but with the same outcome. Thanks for the video it really helped see him through a different person's eyes.

I'm not surprised he's not liked but I'm still disappointed. he's definitely a very subtle character in a way that he's written and everything is easily overlooked if you're not a lore digger or if you just don't care. Despite how bad his actions are he still is one of the most "human" characters in the series. ESPECIALLY compared to other antagonists, so many characters are very cartoon-ey but the way byakuya is written immediately puts you in a defensive position, and I love that about him
I think Byakuya wanted to save his skin on the very beginning. he's not the only character who can point fingers of who's suspicious or not. Remember Toko? I can see why Toko think they click. They both have trust issues and wanted to save their skins. But, they start to change because of Makoto Naegi. For Toko, it wasn't enough so she had to see Komaru to find her first friend. She only considers Makoto Naegi as this guy who saved everyone.
I'd argue in regards to Chapter 2, many things in tradition can be tossed aside if you can make a gain from it. I would not be surprised if Togamis have, in the past, done similar or worse to serve themselves.
Case (Or chapter) 2 was tragic, I love him but that was so low of him, Even for Togami…That’s not so Togami. But I can see where your coming from and I do understand as to why he did considering his background.

Compare that to Aoi willing to take everyone to the grave with her, in order to honour Sakura (as she thought) and still have a ratio of like 6:1. I appreciate that he didn't change into a paragon nice guy like say Fuyuhiko after chapter 2. It was much more in character, for Togami to still maintain a lot of cynicism towards relationships and his main motivation being killing the mastermind is what carried him through the rest of the game.
Also, chapter 5. Who was he suspicious of? Kirigiri. Who ends up trying to get an innocent classmate killed in chapter 5? Kirigiri. (And in the anime, instead of Byakuya being the one to directly accuse Makoto, it's Kyoko accusing him. Byakuya even says "I knew Naegi wasn't guilty" in the anime when Makoto's execution fails)

Tbh I have never understood why Shinobu Togami isnt the captive member in UDG in Danganronpa: Togami she is the other main character is Byakuya and just from the fact that Sonia Nebamiando is the main villain we can deduce that the story takes place near the same time as Ultra Despair Girls and Ultra Despair Hagakure, and oddly enough Shinobu is one of 4 characters whose statuses are listed as unknown the other 3 being Haiji Towa, then Takumi Hijirihira and Misaki Asano (the latter 2 being the protagonists from gaiden:killer killer) I personally choose to belive that she is alive and also she is a cyborg so she has that

spoilers for the Danganronpa Togami trilogy: I do agree, however at the end of the book series, it is revealed that his memories of her were stolen in the same way his school memories were. He was given an offer, aid the Remnants and essentially become the king of the world but Shinobu will die, or he will lose many memories relating to his talent and he will be a victim to the despair and forget his sister exists but she will be able to live; he chose the latter then his memory of even choosing to save her was taken from him too, her living on was the most important thing to him.
Those memories of her *could* be recovered, considering the Future Foundation was able to give the THH survivors their memories back, however at the time of the killing game, Byakuya unfortunately thought he was entirely alone minus Pennyworth. Shinobu is implied to still be alive by the end of the novel trilogy, and she could have survived the trilogy, so one could hope that they could eventually be reunited. I apologise for rambling.

I'm not surprised he's not liked but I'm still disappointed. he's definitely a very subtle character in a way that he's written and everything is easily overlooked if you're not a lore digger or if you just don't care. Despite how bad his actions are he still is one of the most "human" characters in the series. ESPECIALLY compared to other antagonists, so many characters are very cartoon-ey but the way byakuya is written immediately puts you in a defensive position, and I love that about him

I think Byakuya wanted to save his skin on the very beginning. he's not the only character who can point fingers of who's suspicious or not. Remember Toko? I can see why Toko think they click. They both have trust issues and wanted to save their skins. But, they start to change because of Makoto Naegi. For Toko, it wasn't enough so she had to see Komaru to find her first friend. She only considers Makoto Naegi as this guy who saved everyone.

I'd argue in regards to Chapter 2, many things in tradition can be tossed aside if you can make a gain from it. I would not be surprised if Togamis have, in the past, done similar or worse to serve themselves.
