    Some people are reporting that the Comet is not showing up, perhaps in the free version. I'm using the PLUS version and even then it doesn't show up when you search for it, you just have to aim north at roughly the right time and zoom in a little and it should appear. If it's still not coming up just use the free web version that I linked in the video description. Good luck and clear skies!

      Wicked clean shot man, looks perfect. I had my shot all planned out over the mountain called Half Dome in Yosemite NP here in California only to realize they now require vehicle permits because of this Wuhan Virus and them being sold out a month out. Got some clean shots @ the Lick Observatory near San Jose instead the other night but it just wasn’t the same due to the lack of good scenery composition in regards to where the comet was positioned to the landscape....Keep up the great content

    I am into late middle age now and I am so sleep deprived I feel like I did 3 months into being a new Mum at 22!! I just know that this is so special (and UK skies so unpredictable) that I can't miss any opportunity to get out there however ill I feel - I think I'm going to be processing images for months! I got into astrophotography about 6 years ago & have spent so many hours star hopping to find tiddly little faint comets and hundreds of stacks of images for little green blobs & last night I was standing in my kitchen waiting for the kettle to boil and looking out my window at the comet AND its tail with my naked eyes! I just can't get over it...

      @Jeff-jg7jh 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LucyJazzy85 I can understand the excitement. My shot is nothing compared to some of the others I've seen including this one(and those clouds!). I risked a whopping big fine to get mine. What a night.

    • @LucyJazzy85
      @LucyJazzy85 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jeff Nielsen you’re being too modest and you have only solidified my not-so-humble opinion... not only is your picture historical and a great piece of art, but it’s even better still because it comes with a terrific backstory ... the planning, the intrigue, myths breaking of laws, the risk! “An artist’s work is never done...” and as a photog myself I know the feeling of “I would-ah, should-ah, could-ah...” so don’t compare your work to that of any other’s... beauty is in the eye of the beholder, yes? Besides... a true photog will do nearly anything to get “The Shot” even if it means risking fines, trespassing, and even personal safety (I’m sure you have climbed that tree, hung from that bridge, clung to that 50 metre wall, just so you could “get THAT shot” ... ) I love it... YOUR shot... all the more so BECAUSE you took us all on your journey and we all felt the excitement... and those of us who ARE photogs know firsthand how much effort goes into the timing, the composition, the execution and the blending of a perfect backdrop with the actual subject.... ( especially with digital bc at dusk you can either shoot the sunset but the green trees go dark, or you can shoot the green trees but you blow out the sunset... therefore it’s necessary to blend two exposures...). LOL 😂 What was my point?? Oh yes. Artistic merit. I am standing my ground on my opinion... I would definitely buy your piece should you decide to make prints (and sign them 😁) and I’m quite sure others would as well... of course I am in America so there’s the conversion factor... perhaps I could even get a “finders fee”!?! 😁Yes, I am teasing you now... (sort of...) But at the very least, I have made my point, and you have made a new fan and a new sub. 💜

      I'm in the eastern US as well. I found it, but it's really tiny here for some reason. It's about two fists 'south' of the big dipper in the evening, an hour after sundown. It looked really small and dim, no bigger than a star. You'd need a good telescope to make it out. I had cheap binoculars and I could barely see the tail.

    outstanding vlog mate, im just down the road from there so be scouting a nice view point next few days for an earlier view. I would just say, for YT view retention purposes, sad to say I know... maybe put the app tutorial at the end, like a " this is how" … I don't know, you've got the experience, but id love this one to blow up, it deserves it, and I think maybe that's the 1 thing that may hold it back. just constructive, ledge vlog tho, peace

    Cheers mate. Awesome night.
    After your first video I went out with the sight of "meh" conditions. Sadly they worsened and I couldn't even see any stars outside. So this was an unfortunate day - not even a good sunrise came from it.
    Since then I'm planning like a madman for location and time and I really hope that I can get a shot of it.
    One thing though: I am not really that experienced with the grid so when I see 4-5 degrees up - it seems REALLY low. But in all pictures and your videos it seems "okay". Is there a rule of thumb to get a feel for the height so I roughly know if my composition could fit? I don't want to be on site and then realize that 5 degrees is way too low and I will never see it and wasted a night.

    If there's any posable way, power line will mess up a great view, they will! It's an unwritten law or something! The end results were amazing!

    Great video and finally gave me a way to plan out a shot for this. Going to be aiming for Sunset due to my location and the comet's height so maybe not as ideal (it'll be falling down in the sky vs rising) however should be fun and interesting to see what I get.
    In photopills you can actually do away with the black pin and lock your Azumith to a set degree if you want so that you can just move the shooting location around. Or lock it to the black pin and reverse those two to drag around the black pin where you want to actually shoot from, then swap them again. Done that a few times when I wanted something to be very specifically placed in the frame.
    Now if I could figure out a way to get out in the AM somewhere for this I'd be super happy, however my area is still on semi-lockdown so like all the camps, parks, etc are a no go and downtown at 4-5am is kinda the same thing :(

    Oh, man! I love this video and all th emotions we all can probably feel whenever the pieces falls perfectly into place! Many claps for you and all the effort to put this content up. One thing, I’ve seen it tree times already, hoping it was not me letting some info pass by, but can you share a bit of the settings/equipment you used in your timelapse? Mostly focal length... it was insane! Congrats!

    Great post, and amazing images!! You might want to check out an app called Star Walk 2, I have no affiliation with the app or the developers. The app uses an augmented view with your cell phones camera so you can point it at your subject and then swip through time and see exactely where an object in th sky is located in relationship to subject on Earth.

    I am trying to view the comet from San Antonio, Texas. I am not looking to take any professional pictures or so, I would like to see it and njoy the moment. Do you or of you reading this know anything about the actual visibility and timing of the Comet? I am using the App you mentioned, how accurate are the timings and actual visibility using that app?

    Get out and see this Comet before it goes. I found you don't necessarily need a long exposure/tripod to get a good photo. Even better, view from binoculars. Amazing how this is a naked eye comet and much talk about it is silent.
