      @@noahsabadish3812 Yes he confirmed a new album is coming out very soon. A few months ago he said he was doing the final touches and mixing so I think it will be out by the summer. He's been playing unreleased tracks at his live shows all year. Look up "Jamie xx - Breathe". It's one of my favorite unreleased tracks from him and I sure hope it's on the album.

      When I saw him at Made in America fest in Philadelphia, we were lil bit intoxicated and forgot that he was playing that night ….???? (which is absolutely ridiculous because he was the whole reason that we even went there lol) but anyway we were semi close to the stage he was playing at thank god so we heard him begin his set with this song…..holy shit we booked it over to the stage so fast lol In that moment I was one of the people in the video haha I was like just thinking “oh my gosh, oh my gosh oh my gosh” 😩 I will never forget that moment. When I think of that concert now, I tear up every time because it was so so so perfect.

      @@LB-vb4uc Saw him last year at Park life, he closed with this. I also was a little "intoxicated" when the synthy bit came in i damn near cried, was with a bunch of my close friends but for a minute i felt so completely alone but in the best possible way. literally gives me shivers thinking about it.

    Jamie is something else, one of the best samplers easily. While most of the stuff on this channel is some basic looping of an old jazz/soul track and adding some drums, this level of creating a melody/rhythmic structure with a complex layer of samples taken from the most obscure stuff is what not many are able to do. Burial, Jamie, the Avalanches ofc, those kind of guys

    • @jjustapple
      @jjustapple ปีที่แล้ว +11

      While I don't disagree with you, the Think Break is not exactly obscure, it's a classic jungle breakbeat and it's been sampled by generations of producers in all kinds of genres. WhoSampled shows that it's been sampled a whopping 3368 times (and that's only counting the stuff that someone's bothered to put in there). It's a cool flip though.

      I just came from the keep it real sample video on here, which could be seen as exactly what you described. But it’s way more than just putting drums over soul samples. Most of the time it’s just as skillful and creative as what Jamie did here.

    I always wonder how you find these samples! Also Jamie Xx is one of my favorite artists, such an incredible creative soul. I saw him headline at Art With Me ‘22 in Miami, such an impressive show. He had themes/ motifs through the set that he’d reference like a specific sample of “Dance!” that tied multiple genres together. 2 hours of awe inspiring music ❤

    I followed this and was able to recreate everything EXCEPT for the tails of the snare hits (they come at the "4 and" of each bar). There's some kind of reverb and other processing that makes them sound kind of like an open hihat. Simply stretching them like in the video definitely doesn't sound right. Anyone else able to figure out exactly what was done?
