  • Let's find out what's going on inside these agates and other mystery rocks that were sent over to us to cut! A huge thanks to Kurt for sending these over so we could cut them and share how it went with everyone. I used my 10' lapidary wet saw from Hi Tech Diamond to cut all these rocks open, their link is below!

    Gosh I’m just addicted to these videos! It’s always so fascinating to see what’s inside these beautiful rocks. The geodes with the sparkly crystals inside are cool too, if you ever find those! Keep making these awesome videos!

    You are such a great guy to help out others and cut their rocks for them. That's so nice. Even though the rocks weren't super exciting they were cool nevertheless. Thanks for sharing.

      @@AgateDad Thank you. It was awesome, just hooked up the vise and almost have all ot the protective gear for my son and I, just waiting on his respirator mask, hoping it fits. I was going to ask you which saw blade do you use for agates and geodes? I went to go get the green one on Hi Tech and use your affiliation code but then didn't have it anymore and wasn't sure if I can just use the red one they provide with it?

    • @OregonRocks
      @OregonRocks 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AgateDad Hey man, just used your code for a discount on Hi Tech Accesory saw blade, I signed up for the affiliation myself and got approved but was wondering how you got a code to use after you partnership. Is there another level after affiliate that Hi Tech assigns a discount code to you or does someone need to use your affiliate link first before one is provided. Sorry if you don't know the answer to any of these. Lol just knew I needed a blade to handle the thicker denser material and wanted to thank you for your link that got me 5 bucks off. Haha

    Those were all, really unique and you can never tell until you cut them open. Sometimes, they will surprise you. My favorite one was the very last one. It had eyes and that beautiful swirly pattern on the inside. So beautiful. But u think all rocks are beautiful in their own right. Thanks for the help and for the fun:

    They are beautiful.
    It's amazing what's inside them.
    Yesterday we cut open some Australian Agate creek Agates.
    Omg they are beautiful.
    I'm not sure whether to tumble or face polish.
    Do you tumble your halves, or only face polish them.
    There's a video on my channel if you want to see them.

    We go up to lake Superior and along the shore all the time. Loved the CRYSTAL CAVE VID! I've always been confused as to which rocks are what on the inside? We have buckets of rocks (Gkids & I) from lake Superior but no way to cut them :( . How do you know which direction you should cut them? We were just getting started into rock polishing using an old red TumblersTumbler (aprx 35yrs old) from when my kids were kids. Yup it fried on us at 1 1/2 wks, lol. Looking for a new reliable model on a social security income. LOL.

    The one with the fossil imprint is probably Fossiliferous Chert. It is basically a pseudomorph. The fossils were embedded in limestone or sandstone and then the whole thing was replaced with chert. I have a small specimen with crinoid fragments in it. Unfortunately, you see what the chert usually looks like. Other than the imprints, there isn't much to them.

    That last one was really interesting. The red matrix ... I'd want to sit and stare at that one a while.
    How many cuts do you find you're getting out of each blade? I'm still on my first, but I ran out of rocks to cut.

    • @AgateDad
      @AgateDad  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I’m cutting smaller stuff I can make it last what seems like forever, occasionally I cut bigger material and that takes a lot out of it. I can’t put a time frame on it though.

      I figure around 7-8 hours per inch thickness. I use Amazon blades, and I'm not gentle on my saw.
