  • Dear Sewing Friends, in this video we are going to pull out our knit fabric scraps and make something beautiful! All of these are really easy to sew, and some are even no-sew! These can also make beautiful gifts and special items for you and your loved ones. I hope you find these ideas useful so that you can make something from your knit scraps as well!
STRETCH INTERFACING - the stretch interfacing I had at home was passed down to my from my mom, so there is not tag attached. I would suggest light/medium weight knit interfacing for this project, as it will add stability, reduce puckers and make sure that your applique holds on. On the store bough t-shirt the interfacing was also applied on the inside of the actual t-shirt (not just on the applique part), but that was due to embroidery on the animal part, and I am assuming they tried to conceal all of the threads. Therefore I only added interfacing on the actual applique. Here's a knit interfacing that might work for this project - Pellon EK130 Easy Knit Fusible Interfacing 20'' White (www.joann.com/...)
    STRAIGHT STRETCH STITCH - www.singer.com...

I thought I was not going to do the headband right for some reason. It was to simple. Your showing how to fold it was much more easier than telling me. They are adorable. Just like you my friend. You truly are an inspiration for me. So glad that I got back into sewing. The best part about it is when I showed my daughter she said will you make me one, then she said or maybe I can make it myself........so happy. I also just finished making a baby scrappy quilt and that was very challenging but so rewarding. Take care.

I always use all my knit scraps, make dolls clothes for my daughter, sew small bits together to make dish cloths and cleaning cloths, I use them to stuff projects, scrunchies and use the long rolling up bits to make fabric baskets. I love knit fabrics.

I was looking for a way to make headbands! A friend of mine asked me if I could make some for her and her kids. She'd like them to be made out of light fabric, just to cover her kids ears from the wind, as they are somewhat sensitive to that. The ones for her should be just to keep her hair out of her face.
Thank you so much for sharing!

By the way, to your last comment (there are so many, I read, but sometimes don't get to answer all) - I am not a fan of dresses, as for versatility I do prefer separates, BUT I am planning a video (probably next week) about how to turn ANY of the tops I do tutorials for, or any other tops you have into dresses! That should give you some creative juice :)
