I've been using this technique and I LOVE it! It is So easy and quick but still looks really nice all day. I have been using a light dust of subtle, glowy highlight under my powder foundation. It barely peeks through and gives a nice natural glow to the skin. Thank you for this video!

I just sat down to start my face and watch your video. I did everything you did to do a more full coverage face(were going out). Now I feel like I can put powder foundation on and make it look better and stay in place. Thanks for teaching me how to wear a powder foundation!

Rita, which brand did you use, of powder, and did you buff in circles? Or go with lighter hand? Also, did you use a lightweight foundation under it, or tinted moisturizer or plain moisturizer or concealer or what? Sorry for all the questions but I'm trying so hard to learn.

Great vid Lisa! I know for my over 40 oily/combo skin, I HAVE to use a primer to smooth and help it last (even in addition to the setting spray) or it will slide right off. Mature skin woes! 😜

I just started using powder foundation. I found this to be the most helpful video online of the ways that can work. I’m not a make up newbie, but I’ve always avoided powder foundation because I have dry skin. I love my face oils, but if I use them in the morning, my foundation slides right off. I am looking forward to trying my face oil tomorrow morning, and then layering my powder foundation over the top. This is also a new brand that I haven’t used so will be fun to try something different.

Lisa, quick and easy tips. I am a powder foundation person. I really liked the last tip when you said apply the highlighter right when the setting spray is still wet. I normally go with the three pan hourglass pressed powder which leaves a subtle sheen and then set it with a setting spray. But I will definitely try your tip! Thanks again for an informative video.

This was so helpful. Here's another little tip: I love powder foundation but I do use the sponge they come with, and recently I learned that if I use the sponge to 'buff' the product in, it gets a whole different finish and texture. It looks like skin, which is what I love.

I couldn’t really tell what it looked like to compare how liquid foundations are on your skin (as you’ve given us plenty of those close ups). Also, I would have liked to be closer to see the difference in coverage on the two sides. :)

Great tutorial on making the most of powder foundation. I’m 62, with dry skin and my MAC Studio Fix is my favourite travel foundation. I will be using that drop of oil technique.
I fly carryon only a lot so the TSA liquid allowance is reserved for the liquids I NEED.
But the other reason I love powder is that I can blast it on over spf, knocking out the shine, then just use the compact for touch ups on the go. Looks great for a no makeup look.
I love my liquid foundations when I am at home, not traveling or in a hurry so making the most out of my powder is really important.
    Thanks!

I do learn from you but for a person who is, more mature then you are & w/ noticeable undereye lines, it really doesn’t matter how much I prep my skin, a powder foundation looks ghastly. Could you experiment this on a person w/ real wrinkles? You have perfect skin so everything will look good on it.
Also could you do a video to show how to really cover up facial texture? For instance, I’ve had to use Efudex cream which makes my skin full of scabs. Besides putty, what can I do to cover up this mess until I stop using it?

Hi Lorraine, texture is hard thing to cover with makeup, but the best tips are to find products that can minimize the appearance and avoid products that can enhance the appearance. A good smoothing primer can help, aside from using a very full coverage thick consistency makeup, color cosmetics will more cover discoloration but it doesn't really cover texture.. if that make sense? Its tricky because a heavy full coverage foundation may help but it can also make it worse, I think the best thing you can do it hydrate, exfoliate and find a good smoothing primer

I just started using the Mireness bb cream and love it! It comes out a little grey, but settles to the right color on the skin. I try very hard to stay away from concealers and heavy powders because of the texture that they bring out. I have even given up on powder highlighters and do the cover fax on a stipple brush to buff it in. I didn’t actually begin wearing “full” makeup until I turned 50 (mid-life crisis?) and just want to minimize any texture or uneven tone. I will try these three tips with my It CC powder foundation and see if it works for me. I usually only use that over liquid foundation as a light bit of extra coverage on my nose because it tends to be pink.

Hi Lisa, so happy to see u featuring Mirenesse products. They're an Aussie company & I've been using them for many years. This was a great video; very informative. I'm def going to pull out my BB Glow Powder & give it a try. I've been using the Skin Clone over the top of liquid foundation (or Mirenesse Collagen compact foundation; which I really luv) & sometimes I can really notice texture on my skin (lines, acne scarring around my chin, etcetera) so maybe the Skin Clone is too much. I was using it as a finishing powder & as u point out it's not. Anyway keep up the great tips. See ya later alligator ... Sandy from AUS

I have found the Laura Geller balance n brighten powder foundation works best for my dry skin however it can be challenge to ship to Canada as it is not sold here. I do also like the It Cosmetics CC powder foundation because of the SPF for the summer. I like light coverage, just enough to cover my cheeks that tend to go red.

I like that foundation too! In rhe US they sell it at Ulta and online at qvc.com. I wonder if you could get it either of those places. Hope that helps.

When my skin was really oily, I would use powder foundation. Now, my skin is combination. So, I use your tip when using powder foundation. I lightly spray a hydrating face mist on my brush after dipping the brush into the powder foundation. It goes on so smoothly & evenly. Thank you for sharing this video. Cheers 😉🌷

I’m definitely going to try applying sooner after moisturizer. I’ve always thought the longer you can let your skin care soak in before makeup, the better. Perhaps that’s why I’ve never had any luck with powder foundations. Thanks for the tip!

I use the Mirenesse Anti Aging Flawless Revolution and love it! It came with a setting powder and concealer and they both work really well. I have extremely dry skin so I was afraid but I always look fresh when I use their products. Also, another great benefit is that it color corrects itself, so I bought Vienna for the winter months. When summer came and I got darker, it also got darker so I didn't have to buy another foundation. Definitely a highly underrated brand :)

Hi I love your videos. I'm having a hard time finding the perfect foundation and setting powder. I'm 57 years old, oily skin with large pores. I'd looking for a light weight, good coverage foundation that will not accentuate my fine lines. I know as we aged finding the perfect product gets harder. Could you recommend foundation and setting powder please. Thank you!!!

Wonderful Video☺ I've been watching another expert on TH-cam & thought it could only be done that one way. Found out now there is more than one way, & many combinations I could use, but must practice. In the end, powder will be fastest and if done right with skin prep first, will give the best result into later years, and I'm there, in the later years already.

I definitely did not know about applying a little bit of setting powder AFTER a setting spray. I think this trick will also help for when I’ve used a liquid foundation or stick foundation where setting it with powder will make me look cakey because I have drier skin but not setting it won’t help with the longevity of the foundation wear time either. For example, I usually debate on setting powder when I use the Maybelline superstay full coverage foundation. I usually have to mix it with a more dewy foundation and that gives me the right kind of finish where I don’t need to set it but can see some of it wearing off in certain areas by the end of the day. Awesome trick that I will definitely try!

This was very helpful. I normally wear mineral powder foundation and never could but my finger on it what was missing but when you said flat...that was it. So I think adding a very light dusting of something with a touch of shimmer will help. Also I have been using a very dense brush and buffing so I think I might need to change my application tool. Also I didn't know I should have my moisturizer still slight moist. So this whole video was for me. I really needed this one thanks a million...now off to play with these new ideas.

    1 - exfoliate
2 - hydrate with moisturizer & or facial oil
3 - choose a brush based on coverage you want
4 - set with a setting spray or glowy powder
Good tips & they aren't just for mature skin! I have a maybelline pressed foundation which I've never used because I didn't know how to apply it without it looking cakey especially in dry patches. I'll try these ideas.
