The Butterfly Effect by CH is just sooooo good! Incisive, informative, pertinent AND entertaining every second. So much more observant than any of the other commentators across the board. I’m just a hobby road cyclist, but I’m still riding 50 years on (I’m 76), following the tour since the Lemond years. I can say I’ve learned way, way more about stage racing watching the Butterfly Effect for just these last 19 stages than I had in all that previous time. Chris, you are the bomb, for sure. Thanks!! And I hope you continue with this channel and format for years to come.

Mohorics Interview was so emotional and heartfelt, and I had an epiphany when he mentioned the guys in the Groupetto up the mountains.
Netflix needs to make a documentary about the Groupetto, the suffering, the drama, the camaraderie that crosses the boundaries of the teams. Those are the stories we don't get to see because the focus is on the winning riders up front. But staying inside the time margin over those crazy climbs makes every single one of them a winner. Arriving in Paris and finishing the tour, even if in last place is an extraordinary achievement that costs so much energy dedication mental strength and pure will. Hats off to all riders.

Man Matej gave such an emotional post race interview that should go viral. And he dedicated the win to Gino and the Team. The average person will never know what these riders go through.

Spot on. In other words: whenever Philipsen is in a group, two things happen
    - attacks upon attacks (especially from Lotto ;-)
    - NOBODY is gonna ride for him apart from his own team
While part of that is true for any sprinter who wins 3 stages or more in a year, Jasper created a whole lot of this himself as well.

How do they ride at warp speed considering the number of days they already raced? Amazing. But, Chris you are absolutely right, Mohoric’s interview was so real, and so touching, I started to choke up. So mention that all 150 TDF racers are capable of winning, and that he was fortunate to be given the opportunity is so humbling. Also, my hat goes off to Bob Roll who predicted the winner. Finally, a thumbs down to Jasper who blamed the motorcycles for his loss, and made no mention of his boneheaded tactics. Thanks Chris, great job once again.

I love what Mohorich said after the stage in an interview. Cyclists work so hard, give up so much to be at the level! The emotional toll and the impact and risks of professional cycling on oneself, family, and other cyclists! He expressed that he feels sadness and joy of winning. Sadness because not everyone can win and they all deserve to for their efforts, and what they all give up to be where they are! This was so beautiful and well said.

This was one of my favorite stages of my all time TdF watching. Every time we see the peloton, there is disarray. It is in almost everybody's interest to catch up to the breakaway but it is in nobody's interest to help Alpecin catch up to the breakaway so Philipsen can win the stage. Every time we see the breakaway they are in full out cooperation mode. Very cool. I was rooting for the breakaway once I thought they had the remotest chance of actually winning. But it seemed unlikely for almost the entire race.

    • @a.westenholz4032
      @a.westenholz4032 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Agreed. The yellow and polka dot are reasonably easy to spot, the white not so much considering who wears it and the UAE team colors but still visible as it stands out from the other UAE jerseys (but will we find it harder and more confusing next year if UAE are still in mainly white and some other guy on another team has the white jersey?), but the green, while a lovely color, totally ends up blending in with all the regular team jerseys. It's a lovely color for a team jersey but not for the green jersey which should be a brighter more visible green so you can clearly distinguish it from the rest. Too many times even when the JP was sprinting or somewhat on his own- so clearly visible, the green jersey did not stand out and I had a hard time noticing.

I couldn't believe riders were working with Philipsen knowing he would win the sprint. Should've made MvdP and Philipsen do most if not all the pulling. Yes, it would've been harder to catch the 3 up front but then you wouldn't ha e to go head to head with the green jersey.

Chris I have got two questions,
First, Why do you name Victor Campernarts "ma' man" ? Probably you have explained somewhere, but I couldn't find, pls excuse if you have to repeat that.
Second, Well, is there a strategy of the team Lotto to put this guy in breakaway, or is just his decesion, and what is the reason for this, because they/he knows that he cannot winn the stage, more than that, Caleb is not anymore in the race, so what's the reason to just exhausting yourself, could it be just for the image for the team/itself, or for sponsors, or for what?

@@ChrisHornerCycling I don't think so, or if they did it didn't have much effect since next day he was out in front of the media saying how he didn't think he had done anything wrong. So whether or not they tried talking to him, Jasper is choosing to not listen to the general criticism from other corners and even show a bit of reflection. Most unwise in this case. He is fast making himself into the "bad boy" of cycling and not in the good likable way. I think there's a price for that unpopularity- both with other racers and with the public- that he may be fast but also liability to have on the team.

tomorrows stage is where Annemiek van Vleuten won last years Tour de France by putting almost 4 minutes into the number 2 and about 6 minutes on the number 3 in that stage, so its a very hard climb.

Do you think we could see Tadej Pogacar at the Vuelta this year?
    I think that’s a great possibility.

Difficult to say. Would really depend on how he recovers after stage 17 and if he and the team can find a reason why it happened. Sometimes when the body explodes like that you may be better off with some long recover. 🤔🦋🤞
