Super clear and an easy share for clients, thanks Ben love your videos ✌ Biggest no-brainer for any business on mere dollars a day, low creative refresh burden too on Dynamic
I understand the logic but when we test it, it doesn’t perform as well as conversions. You have to remember that it’s not just who your ads are served to that’s optimised with conversion campaigns. Conversion campaigns also optimise when to advertise, how many times to advertise, which placements, etc.
Thank you sir for sharing this valuable knowledge. I have a question regarding this campaign. How many website visitors required before setup fb remarketing campaign???
Hi there! Love the content. Question: What if you have two websites for two separate businesses associated with your pixel? How do you target website visitors of only one site and not both?
Hi Ben - thank you for your videos - they are really great. I have one question - i always struggle with the detailed targeting expansion - you left it turned on. Why?
What you selected in custom conversion in custom RT ad? You didn’t show it? For traffic objective RT ads we can only select custom audience, but in conversion objective what to select for custom conversion type?
Ben, AMAZING video! I am just starting to get into retargetting and I would lile to know if there is a way to pre-build my retargetting campaign and have it start automatically
Thanks a lot :) Yes that should be possible. You just need to create a series of website custom audiences and exclude the right ones. I'd check out my most recently published video for more info on how to do that. There is a whole custom audience section.
If you were going to add a specific page to target, what is the URLconvention you copy and paste into the 'people who visited specific web pages' section? Is it just the full website URL?
2 questions 1. Should I exclude people who already made a purchase in my website? 2. You left detailed targeting expansion turned on. Wont that make the audience go from more than your website visitors?
Hey Ben- What’s the difference between creating the audiences here vs Running Catalog Sales objective? We have a brand that has hundreds of SKUs. Thank you!
Love this and your other videos, Ben. Very helpful - thanks. One thing though, when it comes to retargeting, what sort of advert creative should you use? I sell posters, how do I know how to sell to someone who has bought a music poster against someone who has bought an art poster?
Thanks Steve. I think it's easy to overthink retargeting creative. For the most part, I like to use ad creative that is very similar or the same to the ad creative I would use for cold audiences.
Does detailed checking/unchecking targeting expansion matter when retargeting an audience? Also, does it matter if I put LLA's under the same campaign?
I've been watching different videos from you and I have to say that you have good ideas and they seem like logical but in my country with 1.4 mil (Estonia) Facebook can't get enough information. What should I do?
Should the creative asset be differ for prospecting and retargeting? If I have first party data with partner and some great discount, should I directly do retargeting?
I prefer to keep creative consistent. I like the retargeting ad to feel familiar to people who have seen it before - remember that those people clicked through to your website so are obviously interested.
might be a silly question, or one that hasn't come about yet(usually one of the two with me), but can you retarget a link click based on the link itself? For example you are on podcast A and another podcast B, you have a specific link in the show notes for each, somebody clicks a link from podcast A and goes to your offer or where ever you are sending them. When they go back to FB/IG I only want to show them clicks from podcast A I have created as Ads, but not podcast B. Is this possible? I hope this was understandable.
Great video Ben. When doing All website visitors, do you exclude other landing pages? For an example, say I am doing another a campaign using a LLA to a certain landing page, should I exclude that page as well as the follow-up/retargeting pages?
Hi Eldon, thanks :) I think it really depends on what you are trying to achieve. Some businesses have very different offerings and want to segment people, others are happy for people to bounce between offers. I usually lean towards the section option and in that scenario I wouldn't add any exclusions.
Hi Ben, I have recently got a client and started managing his FB ads. The marketing agency he hired earlier had created tons of ads, campaigns, and audiences before. Now there has been a lot of learning in those campaigns, but I am unable to understand as the ad account is total mess. Client has no idea about the interface and how FB ads run. Do you recommend I create everything from scratch?
That is not an ideal situation and one we deal with quite often. I would recommend starting with fresh campaigns. But it is also important to go through the best performing elements of the previous campaigns. You can learn a lot that can really help you move forward.
Not a fan - a tiny proportion of budget is spent on those people, they often buy again and are reminded so they can in turn recommend and you can interrupt Facebook's delivery system.
Do you have to have a certain amount of website visitors each month to do this. My website is new and I'm only getting around 60 visits a month right now.
A member on your Facebook Group who's also part of your coaching programme mentioned in the coaching programme you recommend using the Reach objective to retarget. But in this video you recommend the Conversions objective. Could you explain this please?
I think you may have me confused with someone else. I don't offer a coaching program and I don't recommend using reach for retargeting. I much prefer using conversions
Hi Ben, when you duplicate your winning ad set for scaling, do you use the existing post or just simply duplicate the ad set ( previous comments like share will not be transferred) thank you
Good question but I do not duplicate my winning ad set for scaling. I prefer to scale the existing ad set - that way you benefit from the learning that has already taken place there. Here's more details on my approach to duplication: th-cam.com/video/pUjScwP2zc8/w-d-xo.html
Hi Ben, thanks for the valuable information you shared. I have a question for you about my new online business. Long story short, I just launched it 2 weeks ago, I have a website, and I sell a few online home workout programs. I have a very tight budget because of the pandemic and the ONE on ONE PT is basically.. dead. Question : Should I start with a Traffic ad to lead people to my website about my new business? or Conversion ad for people to purchase my products? or both? Note: 1. I got pixel installed on the website, people can pay through my website. 2. Currently I don't have any "add to cart" and "purchase" in my website so when I set up a conversion ad, Facebook says I'll get zero conversion which it's happening now. Hope to get your advise, thanks!!
You are very welcome :) I'd start with conversions and use the lead conversion event. Or you could use Lead Generation as an objective. I'd start by watching this video for more info on conversion campaign set up: th-cam.com/video/Y352gPvIMB8/w-d-xo.html And this video on Lead Generation set up: th-cam.com/video/8pQM67NlIVA/w-d-xo.html
Hi Andres, no it does not I'm afraid. Unfortunately there are lots of people claiming that it does but Facebook have been very clear on that. It does help fill in some data holes (people not consenting to cookies for example) but it does not replace the lost iOS 14 data. It's still worth getting set up though.
Hey Ben great video, I got a quick question. Let's say when I target Website Customer (WCA), would I also target everyone that did ATC,IC,PUR? And if that's the case, should I exclude Purchase, if the product isn't a repeat product.
Hey Ben, I've around 300 visitors who have landed on my landing page. There are 3 days since I've launched my retargeting campaign but it's still at zero $ spend. I remember when I tried ecom in 2020, retargeting could be launched on day 1. Is there something different now? Thanks 🤙🏻
Hey there Ben, you always advise to put your retargeting audience in your CBO - however my adset is barely spending anything and I do have a decent sized warm audience.. would you recommend putting it in its own campaign in this scenario? or will the CBO direct more funds to the adset over time.. appreciate any insight as always :)
Hmmm that's interesting, we almost never see that happen. I'd probably give it a bit more time (14 days or so) and then break it out if you are still seeing the same thing.
I sure do. Here's the link to find out more details: www.leadguru.co.uk/consulting-sessions/ They are usually booked by companies with larger budgets given the price point but it may be an option for you. I can certainly provide helpful info.
About retargeting. I still wonder. My last audience just central jakarta. When i using pixel why i get consumen out from Jakarta like east Java, Bali,Sumatra? What this can happening?
Did you have a problem in the last phase of BOF retargeting when the audience is very small, with the delivery of ads? Its small audience but very very hot. About 500 peoples.
I have the same question, I've tried re-targeting with a relatively small audience of a few hundreds of visitors, and the ads were just not being served. Does this mean that retargeting only works if you have a relatively large website audience?
Good question. I’d get website visitors retargeting set up right away. Facebook won’t start delivering ads until you have a few hundred people in there. But there’s no downside to having it set up and ready to go
Well running and spending is the same thing. The ads won't run to your audience until the website visitor audience is large enough. Because of that you won't spend anything on that ad set, until the ads start running :)
Wouldn't the size of your website visitor audience depend on the breakdown between Android & IOS users? Saying these audiences would on average experience a 30% doesn't seem like an accurate data point.
WRONG - Picking customers from 180 days ago is NOT the best strategy as you claim "they are highly to convert" but chances are that if they have not purchased in 6 months (180 days) they probably bought something else or don't need a product anymore.
And how many campaigns have you tested that on to prove your theory? Test it - one ad set with a shorter time frame and one with a longer one, keep everything identical. You'll most likely get more sales from the longer timeframe option.
