This woman is in full control of her instrument... no buck eyed expressions, no holding of the ear or throat. Enunciation and clarity, tonal quality, she's a true singer/musician and owns her voice. I said many years ago and i'll repeat it today, Thank you for the upload Agrant06.
And as evidenced by some of her live recordings with the rotary connection , it's clear she had the ability to be very loud/powerful and creative with her vocals.
It was an instant classic in 1975. Now it @ 40 yrs old it still sounds as fresh as a spring breeze. The late Minnie Riperton did not live 40 yrs but her wonderful videos, beautiful voice, and her body of work lives on forever. She's been often imitated but never duplicated. We miss you so,so,much Minnie. Thank You for this and all of your great songs. We were blessed to have had an angle in the form of you among us if only for a brief moment in time.Rest etrenal my "Perfect Angel.
I wish she could ve lived longer to make more wonderful songs That song at the end of the 🎥 Us was by the late Minnie Riperton Wonderful song that touched me
Minnie was a NATURAL beauty. Natural hair. Natural nails. Natural figure. Natural voice. EVERYTHING about Minnie was authentic and that's why I love her so much. Her prescence on and off of stage was BEAUTIFUL. At 20 years old I appreciate artists like her and music from "back in the day" more than I appreciate artists from my own generation.
I remember listening to to Minnie riperton when I was a teenager and I was amazed when a beautiful woman with this beautiful angelic voice. When I hear about her passing away I couldn't help feeling sad that her life was cut so short RIP😂❤
How the hell does this have down votes? She was so cold, this is live with no filter and a less than stellar mic and sounds even better than the album.
I'm a 90's baby and I found this song when I was playing my favorite game Grand Theft Auto 4. As soon as I heard this song I was blown away with super ultra mega vibes especially hearing her high pitched sound 😊
I love the overt sexuality of this song. What man can resist a woman in the mood. I love the black female singer/ songwriters of this era and the ones that followed in their footsteps. I've listened to some of the covers of this song. Minnie's is the best. I can't stop listening to it.
There comes a time in music industry when artist comes along who is the total package. Minnie was such a person. Listening to this song you hear her describe what true love making is, and how God intended it to be. The passion, sensuality, the intimacy. It's all there. She was truly a class act, not many could follow in her footsteps after her untimely passing. She even today is unparalleled in her incredible vocal talents. Some may be able to rival her. But you will never surpass her! A hauntingly beautiful song, it is only fitting that her amazing voice was suitable for such a romantic masterpeice! Timeless, forever timeless. Rest in peace Angel.
Interpret the song a thousand ways and it still comes out as the purest natural message of love.....and brilliantly executed with style. I miss You, Minnie!
💕 jeez Imagine if all songs were like this 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥mind blowing🎵🤗🎵 they did the right thing in giving it to us twice in a row👍🏽♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ take me high up out of this world into the universe where I love to be🌈🌈🌈💕
I saw her in concert in Norfolk Virginia left my seat and walk up to the front of the stage and i was truly amazed with her vocals no sound effect just pure natural voice 1975 -2023 ❤
One of the most sensual songs every written and performed. Minnie was the perfect artist for this song and the band was incredible. The drummer and bass player really laid it down on this song. So did the other musicians. Great job! This is one of those songs that likely will not be remade...ever. Who could come close?
This is actually her soul spirit expressing itself....we are soul spirit having a human experience...we have lost touch with who we really are... everything is within... everything outside of us is a distraction...we have all been lied to from birth...live in love ...r.i.p...minnie...god bless...
I am speechless! I miss Minnie like she was my Mother! Thank you Lord for giving us this Angel. Now I know what Heaven sounds like. I Love you Minnie! Thank you for sharing this video. If the world could listen to this, I know it would be a better place!
Their will never be another like Minnie I love the clarity in her voice so effortless lisyen can you hear the angelic sounds that comee from her mouth I mean truly beautiful.
Maya Rudolph's mother. Minnie passed away in 1979, I was 8 years old and I remember crying because everyone around me was crying. When they played a tribute to her of the music she produced, wrote and sang, in that moment, I knew we had just lost our angel here I Earth. There will NEVER be another like her...
Alicia Westfall I kept tryna remember where I first heard this song .... and then I come and see your comment then BAM !!! I watched road trip so many times how could I forget lmfao
Thus song came out in 1975. The year I was born. I love listen to Minnie Rippleton😃. She has a beautiful voice. She can sing circles around these new artist today.
When a lady like her was allowed to sing she opened a small universe of creative interactions and like many others who passed away in their young years they leave an unrivalled heritage. We miss you Minnie...
THAT WAS an awesome expression of what Minnie gave us in her voice. Having shared that eternal voice was beautiful. This woman's voice was & is untouchable. Sing on Minnie in our hearts forever.Bye Angel 👼
This is how to sing with sensuality and intensity. This is really really sexy. None of today's so called singers can do this. The VOICE!!! Minnie we miss artistry.
Greatest female vocalist of all time, she was beautiful and her voice was just as beautiful and effortless..my god this talent is truly one of a kind, it will be a long time, if ever until we see a vocalist tht can match her skills, abilities and sensual essence...wow
Feel ashamed I just heard this for the first time on the radio a few days ago - got it straight away. Where have I been the last 40 years??? Just oozes sensuality and a singing talent from some other world!!
Riperton had a coloratura soprano vocal range. Aside from her various hits, she is perhaps best remembered today for her ability to sing in the whistle register, in which she had rare facility. So angelic, master of her craft, u can tell she was just as beautiful inside as she outside. Her time was brief on this earth, but her mark was long, It's still felt 2day. So many try, but they all fall short, & that's because there's only 1 Mz Minnie Riperton, I'd hope if she was still here, she would've gone on 2 do more duets, & continue 2 mesmerize us with that Heavenly voice. So glad mu mom had great taste n musik.
I have always loved her voice, she was an amazing songstress, she will be greatly missed. R.I.P. > Minnie Riperton. Love you always. Thank you for the gift of song through your remarkable voice and high octave, pure and natural soul and talent.
She always sing on point, perfect pitch. Always ease, always at easy, always relax. Always a very well placed and neutral larynx, and a wondrous one to produce among the fluttery highest notes. And in that time of 1 take, a real vocal and musical marvel. A kind of singing long gone. Thank you for sharing this video. Now spread the word.
I absolutely love this song. It's like Minnie is leading me on a journey of love. It unfortunate that she pass because she had such a beautiful voice. As a 88' baby I can definitely appreciate her music!
Completely effortless!!! Often imitated but never duplicated! Have you ever tripped off of the fact that those with phenomenal gifts such as Minnie, Michael, Whitney, Jimi Hendricks, Tupac, Biggie, Amy Winehouse, Luther, and you know the rest but just as quickly as they are given to us, they are just as quickly taken away. They all seem to have had very short lives. These type people or gifts are never to be compared to others. They only come once in a life time. Thanks for sharing LORD. :)
OMG I have never watched her sing this. I was totally falling in love with her, daydreaming all kinds of breathless romantic fantasies of us... I ain't even lyin'! Exquisite, this is. Minnie at her very best.
I wish this woman had more time. She had a voice that could rival any singing diva of her time and beyond. Why do we lose the greatest ones. If I could say I heard the voice of an angel,I would say it was Minnie's. I guess God needed her more than we did. R.I.P. I love her music!

She was my Pint-sized POWERHOUSE, that commanding Angelic Voice I will always be drawn to, it is like the sound you would expect that the angels will call you to the pearly gate to be greeted by Saint Peter, I thank God for allowing me to live in her era of music to hear what truly & wonderfully gifted vocalist like Minnie sound like, especially in these times of Autotune etc. Minnie's voice came from the soul, be it romantic tune or otherwise, in my opinion-there was or is None Better, and new jacks-PLEASE don't/stop play yourselves by trying to remake this song, save yourself the embarrassment, and besides this needs no tampering of any kind, even if you are a good singer, it happened before when Luther remade "Always and Forever" then had to the audacity to impose his own little flav- There will never be another like you Minnie, we love & miss you and we know you are singing in paradise, our "Perfect Angel" Rest Well. DJ TONEY B. Philly
I agree with everything you said. I was born the year and month that she passed, something I just found out watching this video. As for remaking the song no one can do it as well as the great Minnie, but I just ask you to take a listen to the sample cover on my page. You will be pleasantly surprised.
I am young but my mother raised me on this music...Luther, Marvin, Teddy, Deniece Williams, Diana, Chaka, Al Green,Jackson 5, Temptations...I can keep goin...Im only 22 and I still listen to this real R&B and I am so happy my parents and aunts had me listening to music like this...music is not like this now at alland I am really a youngin saying this...like my 1st CD was Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu and Marvin Gaye...this music lifts my soul
Saw her sing this in person and I have never heard a voice like it since. Recordings do little to nothing for the real sound of this angels voice in person. So glad I was blessed with the chance to experience it.
...and the things she was singing about way back then were so sensual. I was too young to know anything about it but I guess that's just inherently apart of our being. 31 was too young to leave us.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MINNIE! You are my favorite artist of all times. I wish I had a chance to experience your music while you were here. You are truly an angel whose legacy will live inside of me forever.
Looooved this song since I was a child. Dad use to play the cd all the time...crazy thing is, me and my sister had no clue what we were singing until we were old enough to understand lol
I hear this song and it makes me feel so damn good inside her voice is a gift from heaven and so very missed I swear her emotion to it was so real and touching. I play it at least once a day. it's 2016 and it still rocks.
Wow...I still get chills listening to her sing! I'll never forget the day I heard that she had died. I was in college, and I broke down crying on my way to class. I've never done that before for anyone in music industry, at least not like that.
I know how you feel. I did that for Minnie and when I heard the news about Phyllis Hyman. I didn't have the same reaction when Whitney, Donna nor Michael died but still mourned their loss....
I cried too although i was a child. She died around the same time Donny Hathaway did....it was devastating. I cried when Aaliyah died too because she was so young and sweet and promising. Also when Phyllis Hyman passed 😢RIP to all the great ones.
Regardless of our different interpretations, it will never change the fact we both KNOW we're listening to a very talented person. She will always have a beautiful spirit! much love!!!
Although she was out before my time, to see & hear her, Minnie is truly one & only! This is an Epic, Classic!! No one, I mean No One sounds as heavenly and reach those notes like she does! RIP Angel singing in Heaven!
This is the sexiest song ever.

Such an underrated artist! She's one of the best singers of all time and will always be!
Minnie, Lisa Fischer, Patti Labelle, had/have incredible ranges! This song deals with spirituality!!! We love you Minnie!!! RIP
Yep.... but Lisa, Patti and Mariah all lack the clarity of tone. Minnie is totally in control.
One of my ALL-TIME favorite songs.
I can't get enough of this song!
My soul melts every time she hits that note. Man I looove this song. It's a baby maker for sure
This definitely is soul stirring music right here!! I am so sorry she passed on...😢😢
Regardless of our different interpretations, it will never change the fact we both KNOW we're listening to a very talented person. She will always have a beautiful spirit! much love!!!
Although she was out before my time, to see & hear her, Minnie is truly one & only! This is an Epic, Classic!! No one, I mean No One sounds as heavenly and reach those notes like she does! RIP Angel singing in Heaven!
You don-t have to be a soulfreak like me to like this. She still is one of the greatest!
Beautiful lady. You can hear it in her voice.
i love this song so much. as a little girl i loved Minnies music.
i remember when she died and i was so sad. thanks for playing it twice. B-)
