    The Line6 Helix line (which includes HX Stomp and Stomp XL) has greatly improved amp tone ever since firmware update 3.50. I recently bought a Stomp XL partly because of this update. I intend to use the IR feature with an Epiphone Alex Lifeson Les Paul, which has piezo pickups under each saddle.

    Thank you Leo for a non biased and very informative video. I think I know which one to buy now. I am leaning more towards HX stomp because of stereo In, stereo fx loop, better sampling rate and more usb in-out. Also I want to be able to add two or three more external pedals and an expression pedal as well an build a small pedal board with them. Once again, thank you very very much. Also, all the guitar in this video was amazing. Very nice playing! Rock on! 🎸

    Not a single word about tone capture?! If this feature is working well, it could be the main attraction. In some moments I felt GE 250 sound better, in others Stomp was better. From other reviews of GE300 and GE250 (including yours) I think these pedalboards have a better dynamic than any other brought in comparison. My impression was that I can hear every pick's attack. On the other hand I felt Mooer has always too many harmonics, probably due the synthesis, but I think a cutoff from 4KHz and above could solve this, and as a result the sound would be more natural.

    • @LeoGibsonGtr
      @LeoGibsonGtr  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, in my opinion the best feature of the GE 250 is the profiling procedure available with the Mooer GE Labs app, that comes out after this video was done. I've done few video about it, that you can check out here: th-cam.com/video/z76P-AZWq4o/w-d-xo.html ore here: th-cam.com/video/GSA9BSXaWng/w-d-xo.html

    Hello again Leo ! Great video and great playing as well as usual !
    As i mentioned in the comments of your previous video, i am considering the new POD Go and the GE 300. This video was really helpful since the POD Go should sound exactly the same as HX stomp and Helix given that you use the same amps/effects and same settings and the GE 250 should sound the same as the GE 300. Hopefully the differences of these units will clear further when they release the manual of the POD Go and the pedal itself. The GE250 and HX Stomp sounded quite different, both good though.

    2 amps, 2 cabs, and maybe a reverb and you can have two people play on one hx stomp which I think is really cool. It is a basic sound but, with dual mono inputs on the fx loop, you can technically both have your own pedal board hooked up to your independent chain, making the hx the modeler for both peoples amps but then each person can use their pedal board to add effects in. Good handy fly rig for a dual guitar situation

      The price of HX Stomp just does not cut for it. It says it has one of the two CPUs of Helix Floor/LT processors but it is only limited to 6 blocks which is a big shame.
      Helix LT can support up to 32 blocks if there is enough DSP power. Therefore, HX Stomp should support up to 16 blocks. It seems HX Stomp will support up to 8 blocks with a new update. Really, I am so excited (irony). Line 6 is ridiculous now. Also Boss GT1000 Core is much better than this rusty tin.

    I see more effort in your comparisons than in many others... you deserve way more views, given there's sooo many guitarists ^^
    As for my conclusion due to personal preferences and circumstances:
    - I cannot forgo the practicality of the GE250 vs the Helix Stomp, while the Go Pod would be heavier, bigger and yet have less processing power.
    I'll have to finnagle any issues with the SQ5's nearly unlimited routing and my only other pedal, the H9 could help out with stereo stuff...

    Excellent comparison video again! I think the sounds of the two units are not so different than the GE250 vs Headrush Gigboard. Yet I prefer the Mooer a bit more. Although I agree that for recording quality the HX is better. Unfortunately, I have very bad experience on my MacBook Pro using Line6 software, recently I had to abandon my UX2 device because it doesn't work on my system since an OS upgrade. So my trust in Line6 has significantly degraded.

      Is that line 6 fault or a result of an update that Apple made that did something weird to the functionality of the software line 6 put out? I guess like why be more mad at line 6 than say Microsoft?

    • @Active-guitar
      @Active-guitar 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JosePineda-jn8jk If there's an operating system update that effects applications, the vendor of the application should follow that and fix their software. At least if they are professional and want to keep the customer. I used the software version that is (according to Line6 webpage) built for my OS X version and it didn't even able to update the driver...
      I tried some other audio interfaces as well and they worked fine. So why should I keep blaming Apple?

    (Gonna repost this as a standalone comment)
    I am a longtime owner of the GT-100 from 2.0 update and beyond and used it on several of my own recordings up until recently and I can say that it's definitely NOT a fair comparison with the newer multi-effects units on the market.
    First off is the I/O: not only is it just limited to in/out with no XLR, but the USB outputs are limited and in my case it seems it's susceptible to ground-loop noise whenever it's connected to a Desktop PC to the wall, regardless if you're recording that way or not. I also have this issue with my fender Mustang GT-100 amp but this was solved by going out of the XLR output of the amp and into the input of my IK Axe I/O. Therefore the Mooer's XLR is a prime feature for me to grab to reduce the possibility of noise issues in my bedroom of a studio since I do everything in box through Reaper DAW.
    Speaking of noise, the Mooer 250 inherits the intelligent gate from its 300 brother, of which Glenn Fricker from SMG demonstrates extremely well, as I have the same interference issues as well while recording high-gain stuff from either of my amp modelers. The Mustang GT-100's 2.0 update also gave it a G-String decimator effect which makes the Boss Unit's plain ol noise gate kind of look inadequate when you have the formerly mentioned items competing with it.
    Besides that, the only real gimmick features the Boss GT has is the custom amp feature (also going to mention that I have always used third-party IRs when recording so for both I never use the onboard stuff) and the very specific Boss effects like the terra echo and the weird accelerator thing.
    So at the end of the day I think Boss needs to reconsider their mid-ship modeler and drop its price, it's not really worth being 500 dollars anymore, and I bought mine brand new from sweetwater years ago.

      Thanks for reply!! I'm searching for a handy amp modeling and multi effects pedal to use on easy gigs/live recoding....In the previous vid(GEvsHA), I would choose Ampero for the better sound to me and slightly lighter .... After this vid found that HX STOMP is much lighter! which is an important factor to me, but my concern is that if HX STOMP is good enough to do on easy gigs by its own? It is hard to decide if I could only choose one....and there is lack of 1vs1 comparison of their tone in clean channel on TH-cam. If HX STOMP's tone is good and it goes well on its own, I will go straight to it!!

    Well done. Might get flamed for this but ….. GE-250 sounds better to me. Fuller and rounder. The Stomp has that digital top-end sizzle that screams 'modeler'. Harsh and brittle. Hi, really great reviews and the music to test is awesome. I'm kinda tired of all those metalhead oriented reviews. Is nice to find some kind of rock/prog vibe because it shows more of the variety of sounds inside the pedals. Maybe you can tell which you think have the best/natural sounding and more featured delays and reverbs -ambient or post rock...-? or the I better seek for other multieffects pedal for that matter? (maybe the ampero, Line 6 POD Go, Zoom or another...). Greetings from Perú. Keep on with the nice content!.

    • @LeoGibsonGtr
      @LeoGibsonGtr  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Alvaro, first of all thank you so much, your appreciation in my videos and music really means a lot to me! As regards delays and reverbs / ambient music...well, it is pretty difficult to answer...the BOSS GT 1000 offers all the boss pedals that in my opinion are pretty nice and powerful, the line 6 Helix (POD GO included) also offers a lot of nice effects, last but not least, the Mooer GE 300 (and the GE 300 lite) is also packed with effects. Maybe you can check out some of my videos, about these units...I think that these are all great pedalboards! Thank you for your message!

      @@LeoGibsonGtr Thank you very much for the support. If only I could buy the GT 1000 $ :') ... I think I'll go for the Headrush Gigboard -I watched it in your other videos :D-, for its easy access and tone. The ability to stomp the effects in four switches and tweak parameters on the touchscreen while playing (kinda shoegazing...)seems to be more similar to the real pedal experience. Not a huge fan of presets. Also, $450 in Perú, a pretty good deal!. Best regards! keep rockin'

    Mi sa che abitiamo molto vicini :)!? Grazie ottima recensione ed analisi! Ho preso di mira il GE 250 per i suono più cristallino, ho un vecchio Line 6 Pro e quel suono un po "ovattato" rimane anche nel HX STOMP peccato. Grazie comunque.

    Wonderful intro, very nice! I still tend to the Mooer, but one of the sound samples was clearly better from the line 6 ( for me)..I would wonder where the Gt 100 would be in the ballpark to your most recenr series of little " great"" modellers? Is Gt 100 sound wise outdated with these? 👍🎶👌

      Thank you so much!!! You mean the GT 1000? I don't have the GT 100, but I have the GT 1000 and it would compare to higher price unit...like the Helix LT...I'm thinking about a video comparison of these two units....

      @@LeoGibsonGtr that will be great, I am convinced the Gt1000 is a perfect sounding platform with a multitude of features! As I knew that you have no Gt 100 or Gt 001 I was wondering where this Platform stands
      compared to the recently introduced and tested ones from you..its the Gt001 and 100 is pricewise in the same ballpark..but these Gt processors are around for a while..may be you know about whether the new ones do better in sound, feature wise the Mooer, Hotone and Line 6 are stunning..my opinion?

    • @LeoGibsonGtr
      @LeoGibsonGtr  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, the Gt100 and gt001 are out in the market since a lot of time and in the last 2/3 years the amp modeling technology has really improved a lot. I don't have tested the 100 or the 001 but considering their age, I think that it's not so fair to compare them with such newer units that benefit from the tech improvements of the last years. On the other hand I think that the GT 1000 is a great unit that I still have, in the same price range of the Helix LT, so a direct comparison could be fair and pretty interesting...I will work on it...

      Technically the Mooer isn’t a beginner gear. It looks like if it’s a beginner’s pedal, but if you check it, is not quite a beginners thing considering the price.
