After years of reviewing task management apps, notebooks, calendars, time management systems, building workspaces and databases, reading papers upon papers on productivity, plus 6 years of college, plus almost 4 more years of informal learning, I know a thing or two about how to get organized to do some learning and today I’m going to spill the tea
- so instead of following my usual mantra, which is, there isn’t a perfect productivity system, because everyone is different, I’m actually going to guide you step by step through my dream productivity college setup - if, when I got into college, I knew everything I know now about being productive.

Great video. One recommendation - I'm apprehensive about having multiple databases for "Notes". I have one flat "Notes" database across all of Notion and then leverage tags to indicate what they belong to. This way I can create multiple linked databases to the same "Notes" database and then just use filters to show what you want under a particular workspace/subject.
I have that too. Filtering for each view is great because I don't have to find the specific database that my note is in.

I am still narrowing down A productivity system for personal , work, kid, and now school as I will be going back to college in 2024. I have a Notion since its inception and have had used it exclusively for school for my first four years. I had to go to work full-time and school got put on hold. Anyhow, this by far seems pretty straight forward, simplistic, and covers everything I have been looking for, at least from what I believe. I am going to try this and get my way around this before school and get a good sense of their TickTick and Notion's co-existence. Many thanks.

Muito bom video Mariana. Seria otimo ter tido o notion enquanto estava a estudar !!! Hoje em dia eu uso esse sistema, uma database no notion com tudo que aprendo, seja a ouvir podcasts, livros, notas necessárias do meu trabalho, cursos, tudo....uso 1 unica database para tudo e depois tenho vistas com filtros. Para as tarefas uso o tick tick. Portanto...concordo a 100% com o sistema que sugeres !!! Mas diz-me uma coisa por favor: onde compraste essas etiquetas transparentes com uma bola de cor na ponta?? Adoro!!

Hai.... that's a great vdo.. can you please urgently make a vdo or advise if the ticktick can be integrated or sync outlook calendars? There are multiple outlook ID I have to use as part of work. And want to sync them at one place...
Setting up notion templates really confuses me but I like this one for the class I am in now. Is their a way to download or import this template to my account?

It’s funny you say notion instead of roam or obsidian because it’s clear it’s a lot more program focused and less inter connected using the linking system. Doesn’t seem as effective connecting the ideas as the aforementioned.
I wish I have seen this video 9 years ago when I was admitted to law school.
Notion is great no doubt but since I have to write my notes in german and everything is underlined read when I edit it it is really annoying. WQith fixing that it would be great

Would this be work for someone with inattentive adhd?
Same thoughts- We'll forget it's within our software and where to find it unless we habit stack. I like my notebook and will stick with that for dates and overall module details but might try Notion for class notes. It works for us if we read our notes aloud :) Good luck!

Someone please help! I marked all the classes and exam events on my TIckTick calendar but now they all start crowding up in my inbox for some reason. I have tagged them all appropriately as shown in video. Please advice if you know anything.
Have you just tagged them or filed them under lists? Because if they're in a list, they shouldn't pop up under Inbox
@@mariana-vieira I just tagged them, it's not under any lists. Bcoz I thought in the video you only put the Subjects under lists, not the classes...

What about someone with autismand adhd?
For us, I'd recommend simplifying the system even more so we don't get executive dysfunction problems while using it. I use a program called Obsidian. I use it as a simple text manager app. I write my class notes in it, then make notes about important subjects and link them using [[double square brackets]]. I like making the notes interconnect and my ADHD brain loves it like a game, while my autism brain enjoys the routine of making new notes every evening.
With the task management, I also use TickTick, but I only have a School tag instead of all the tags Mariana used. I put my schedule in there, and whenever there's a test or study session with my classmates I log it there as well. I find the pomodoro timer is very helpful for keeping track of my study sessions, because my ADHD brain is very happy to have a 5 minute break for every 20 minutes of studying.
If I wasn't clear on anything, please let me know and I'll try to elaborate.

don’t store notes on something that could become a paid service at any point they could hold your notes hostage
You can export your notes, if that’s a concern
Great video but you are FLYING on the computer, I can barely see what you are clicking on unfortunately
I don't think it was intended to be a tutorial on how to use the app, but rather a high level overview of the system you could have in place.
It's a guide, you could look for tutorials for those apps
Notion didn’t exist ten years ago
All you need is a pen and a paper and some discipline to do all this.
