Junji Ito is one of the most renown contemporary figures of horror manga, with a career spanning over more than 35 years. From psychological terror to cosmic horror, Ito’s depiction of the genre covers a wide spectrum, even implementing humor elements.
Sculptor & figure creator Yoshiki Fujimoto has gained popularity of the years for his utmost precision in 3D design, modeling and painting skills. His works include many original creations, in addition to emblematic recreations of characters, such as his work on the Alien xenomorph.
We had the opportunity to attend the final steps of a collaboration between the two artists, creating another look at Tomie, Junji Ito’s most emblematic character from his debut work and learning more about the respect they share for one another.

I'm glad this sculptor didn't go mad trying to sculpt Tomie 😉
Lmao is that a reference to the sculptor chapter?
That'd be insane
Haha😂
What a gorgeous sculpture. The movement and expression feels natural as if it was a still from a movie.
Agreed. Who's better to make a Tomie figurine than Fujimoto-san himself?
The opportunities you guys find to see such talented artist and create a documentary is outstanding, the quality, the narrative, the actually interesting parts, not only technical but trivia as well, everything creates such a well developed narrative, you guys focus where things matter, not in a commercial way, but to those who are really into the overall curiosity around not only the artists but their art as well, this sculpture is gorgeous.
Thank you for your hard work, Archipel.
Thanks a lot for the kind word.
There's more in the works at moment, so please stay tuned :)
Every time I watch an Archipel video it gives me a drive and hope for the of art.

Absolute GOATs all around. The sculpture looks incredible and I wish I could get one.
Thank you Archipel 🙏🏼, I'm really grateful for your videos!
Thank you!
Fujimoto-san addressing Junji Ito as sensei always makes me happy: seeing such a talented and skilled individual being so humble in front of such a legend in manga history: you can really perceive his devotion towards meticulously replicating Ito's art. I think many can learn something from Fujimoto-san's attitude in this video. Great work Archipel, beatiful documentary as usual.
Great vídeo, thank you for making english subtitles

Awesome
genial
Merci!
Merci pour cette vidéo. Une belle rencontre.
I need one of this 😍😍
Actually what I expect is a normal version and a more "monster" version. Or maybe a combined version (like there's another head growing out). When Tomie is normal, she is evil and condescending; but when she becomes a monster, she is horrifying and pathetic at the same time. I think it will be a challenge to show the two sides of her.
I loved the video, but I missed the PT-BR subtitles.
Dos grandes genios trabajando juntos y el resultado es simplemente bello, lo mejor del mundo ❤❤❤❤❤😊😊🎉🎉
Gracias por ver!
🎉
🙏
Suhiro Maruo, Shigeru Mizuki, Kazuo Umezu, Shintaro Kago and of course Junji Ito show that horror has a beauty that our fear does not have the time and security to be able to contemplate.
We could probably add Hideshi Hino to this list :)
👍
🙏
Tomie🖤
One of the best horror villains ever.
