The fact that you are calling the two sides Federalists and Centralists means you did more research than 90% of the people who’ve covered this conflict already
If it’s one thing I know, it’s the Texas Revolution. Being a native Texan and history buff, I’ve deep dived into the history. Making sure my information is up to stuff. One thing you might notice in the later videos, I quit calling them those terms as we get to the Declaration of Independence. Now the fight is between two countries.
Love your videos. Don't ever stop. Also although you said you wanted to step away from the ACW but I hope your return to it eventually as I was really looking forward to your video on Antietam. Regardless keep up the good work
Heck yeah!!! Warhawk is back! I love your style. You taught me a lot about the early Civil War that I had no clue about. You really put it into a perspective that showed just how intense and high stakes it was for all sides. A tenuous power balance and brutal slug match; what a terrible thing for our countrymen to go through. If you ever delve back into the mid-late eras, I'm there!
Just found your channel. I’m a history buff and a native of San Antonio. You’ve clearly done your homework. Very well done, I’ll be sticking around and I look forward to watching more of your work.

Well done! Not only have you did an excellent job presenting a battle I never even heard off, but you showed the Mexicans soldiers and the commanders as professionals.
Just found your channel and I am impressed. The production quality and the amount of researched information is astounding! Can’t wait for the siege of the Alamo and the second battle of goliad (the massacre). I was just there. Truly hallowed ground in Texas.
WATCHED THIS WHOLE PLAY LIST. First time yesterday....found it very informative, and it seems your team stuck to facts and kept personnel oppion clear, great on that. .The way you present the Texans its a surprise that they won...Will deffently be back to watch other vidio sets.good luck on next.
i cant help but wonder how different (if at all?) this summary would be if you had access to sources written in spanish. nevertheless, excellent video!
I like that you have done a series on the Texas revolution. Because there are not alot of videos about it on TH-cam, at least not this detailed. Also I have been to both the Alamo and San Jacinto battlefields.
The given number of Texian dead and wounded during the 3 day battle to take the Town's Plaza just don't tally with the Mexican dead. This is close quarter house to house fighting and would have left probably equal numbers of dead on either side. Mexican moral never broke during their steady push back into the Town centre. They had a small company of sharp shooters in reserve and twice flanked the Texians [both beaten off]. Wikipedia gives different numbers completely. Anyone have any idea of the real numbers of dead and wounded during this intense 3 day battle during the overall siege. Also sieges of length in this period would have produced many non-combat dead. Any thoughts and points would be great.
Awesome vid and it happens that i don't know a lot of stuff about this war only the Alamo battle with Bunn and Crocket died and more men and the battle after Alamo but i don't remember the name so very good info. Can you continue with "The French and Indian War" too that i know some stuff but i would love to see the next vids about that war too. Thanks for the vid have a nice Sunday.👍👍🙌🙌
Another well done video. Will you have a video out to commemorate the Battle of the Alamo in time for it's anniversary on March 6th? I'll be looking forward to the next video in the series. The "Ben Milam Tree" is still standing to this day and you can see it on a river tour.
A+ It’s kind of strange after watching your civil war stuff where thousands of soldiers fought a battle to watch this series where battles had less than 200 people.
Your channel is amazing! The most I as a finn has learned about U.S battles history. Especially the civil war. Texas is ofc an important part as an border state and one of the most recent joined states, and the contemporary situation looks a bit like finland, we got rushed by "refugees" from russia, and closed the border.
And nothing new with intrusions from the opfor. Most people arriving at our border are combat aged men, from Syria, Afghanistan etc.. Plus our international police branch estimates 40% of about 150 workers at the Russian embassy in helsinki are on espionage mission.
I read somewhere that the reason the Mexican Army's marksmanship was so bad in these battles was because the French & English had sold them old Muskets with barrels so worn down they couldn't hit the broadside of a barn? In your research have you come upon anything like this explanation?
Oh yes definitely, the Mexicans bought all the surplus rifles from the European powers. Probably guns used during the napoleonic wars. Not only that but what I told another, they also bought poor powder as well. Theres a few reports of Texians being shot but the balls just bouncing off because they had no power behind their shots. When the Texians captured Mexican powder, they would just dump it because it was useless compared to the powder they have.
@@WarhawkYT thank you, I had heard about the bullets bouncing off but I had always thought that was obvious propaganda. However hearing about the Powder being so bad it all makes sense now. Again thank you. Keep up the good work love your stuff.
Great video and love your civil war series! Man, it is so crazy how poorly the Mexican Army's forces are. I get that most of the army was demoralized and had no interest in fighting, but how are they still numerically superior but yet still can barely graze the Texans? I am guessing most of the Mexican army was conscripted and fired their guns only a handful of times ever before being sent into battle. Not to mention the Texans superior rifles, commanders and fighting spirit.
Yeah, their men were not happy being there, their guns and ammunition sucked. Actually at Concepcion, one Texian was hit by a bullet and it bounced off because the Mexican powder was horrible. Did you watch my army composition section?

Then Burleson is like: ok, lets attack, but again they were like naww.....but then again they were like but now were bored. LOL.....just LOL.....
Besides the Alamo and Coleto Creek, the Mexicans have a hard time killing the Texians. The texians used modern rifles compared to the brown besses of the Mexican army. Yeah that might be the standard infantry gun of the day but also, one note people don’t take into consideration is the quality of the powder. The powder that the Mexicans used was cheap and did not have the same hitting power compared to the texians. There are reports of some Mexican balls bouncing off the Texians because their powder was so useless.
