  • “Shultz’s Dream” is the name of the band and the song. The song was written on commission by Dom Flemons, The American Songster. It pays tribute to bluegrass pioneer Arnold Shultz (1886-1931).
"Shultz's Dream" premiered in Raleigh, NC on October 1, 2022.
The band is led by Dom Flemons (The American Songster). He is joined by Dante’ Pope (formerly of Crossrhodes), Brian Farrow (of Ganstagrass), IBMA Award winning banjo player Tray Wellington and Shultz expert Dr. Richard Brown.
Shultz’s Dream is a project commissioned by PineCone for the 2022 IBMA Bluegrass Live! powered by PNC Festival. Thanks to a grant from the IBMA Foundation, PineCone worked with Dom Flemons to assemble a band that would pay tribute to Arnold Shultz, one of the founders of bluegrass. Dom took the challenge one step further by composing this original song for the occasion.

As Bill Monroe (the Father of Bluegrass and - as a boy in Rosine, KY - a musical protégé of Arnold Schultz) would say, "Oh, that's powerful!"

Oh this is just great! I got to sit in the front row for this whole show and it was the highlight for me of the World of Bluegrass. So glad to finally get to see a part of that night.
