That's what biking is all about. Making the time to head out early, grabbing a hearty breakfast en route and savouring the local scenery. What's not to like. Love it. Take care.
Hello to the both of you. Monsal head is such a lovely spot to stop off at have a sit on 1 of the benches and just admire the stunning views. Cracking food at the Yonderman.
Love wetton mill area - great narrow adventure bike lanes to meander around on - cafe is a lovely location - also great at the Tea junction/ Hulme end 👍 nice vid guys 😁
Hi Richard & Carole. I remember visiting Monsal Head many times over the years. Started as a 7yr old with my mother, walking down to the viaduct rail crossing and then being able to walk through the tunnel, which you can't now of course, or going the other way for a mile or so. My back yard as a child but now 63 with fond memories. Great video 😀👍
@tescan1961 Thanks. You can actually walk or cycle through the tunnel now. The rail lines are long since gone, but not that long ago, they opened up all the old tunnels and installed lighting.
@@Banditmanuk I didn't know that, thanks for letting me know. I think another visit is in order, it was a spooky place going through that tunnel as a 7yr old with no torch 😅
@tescan1961 If you park at Hassop Station near Bakewell, there's a great cafe and cycle hire. From there, you walk through Headstone tunnel, then over Monsal-dale viaduct and then through Cressbrook tunnel. You can carry on to Millers Dale if feeling fit. It's a brilliant experience walking through the lit tunnels and probably less scary than using a torch
I get it at least once every ride. Usually, after riding a while, then putting the leg down straight then back on the peg. Takes about a minute to subside. It will need to be much worse to stop me riding
@@Banditmanuk There's always stronger pain killers as a last resort. I'm getting some arthritis in my left thumb now (which I broke in a crash 44 years ago), which is just starting to limit my distances.
@the_mad_leprechaun 😆😆 They were glinting. That part of the Peak District at Monsal Head is about an hour and a quarter away, so not exactly close but doable for a breakfast. It was a super enjoyable ride with little traffic
@grahamatkins8845 Sadly, you're right about the age thing. I'm only 60, so I'm just hoping it doesn't get too much worse. It's one of the reasons Carol & I keep doing bike trips and tours. Do it while you can 👍👍

@johnbellamy6449 Arr, we've just been at Triumph this afternoon. It was busy. A friend has offered free tickets to the British Superbikes at Dono, so I'm off there tomorrow. Hope you're keeping well. Cheers
Walked to the Mill a few times and had a cuppa over the years but never made it there on the bike. In fact it’s been years since I’ve taken the bike up to the Peak District. One for next year I expect. Can’t beat a cold sunny ride though. Exhilarating.
@ianbaines9705 Since they opened up all the railway tunnels, the cycling/walking from Ashbourne along the railway line is amazing. Riding through the old tunnels is an experience and a marvel of engineering in the day. It also takes you over that viaduct shown in the vid.
I saw you at the JCB Biker Breakfast but it was a bit warm, so we were just heading off. @michaellilley6725 Strange you should mention the Rode receiver flying off. We've just bought a new set after Carol's sender packed in. About the second trip out going a bit quick, the new receiver flew off the Insta Camera and was only saved by the cable and microphone adapter! I've now got a spare receiver and 1 good transmitter.
