  • Awesome Home Made Slingshot Catch Box
    After useing a pitiful catchbox made from a swing set and blanket it was time to up my game and make a proper target box. We found a rain barrel on varagesale for $35 brought it home and made an ammo recycling, 3 target catchbox in about 30 minutes that works excellent! #targetbox #catchbox #slingshottarget #catapulttargetbox #catapult #recyclingtarget

    Also maybe place a small bag or sock over tour magnet so you can literally pull up the magnet, grab the edge of the sock or bag ans pull ot off reversing it so you literally pick up a full bag of ammo as the fabric separates the ammo from the magnet and its already bagged. Make sense as I didn't word it very well.

      Have you ever tried shooting those self resetting airgum targets where you shoot the bottom four and then the top one to reset it?

    This is a really well made catch box, good work. I am not very handy when it comes to making things, not very practical nor can I get away with any DIY stuff. I try but things just always turn out to be disappointing. Ok top of this o have very few tools. I've got very basic hammer, screw drivers, hack saw, and carpet knife. I've brought different materials to use ready,and now I'm on the look out for a candidate container. Looking at the video it's given me some confidence icxan produce a catch box, likely no where near as clean and well piut together but hopefully it'll stop and collect ammo and enable the hanging of some targets..... With all of this in mind what top tips would you have. Could I use the hack saw to cut the hole do you think or maybe even a sharp decent knife /or carpet knife possibly? And as I've jo drill do you think I'll get away with using a hole punch to do the holes without making too large a hole.,..? (Sorry if these are really silly questions, I am really this rubbish at making stuff...:)
    An idea I saw the other day a chap had used the cut out section to craft a set of doors with little hinges etc. Would there be any benefit to this?
    Could it be possible to cut the hole but leave hinges on one side to fold it open and use that as a door (if there is any benefit to a door (I guess ijcny mind it could keep leaves, duct and general crap building up in there. Mine 2ill love indoor between uses but in the summer I may leave it if there is no chance of rain, then a door could be handy?
    Sorry again for the inane post and once again brilliant job that catch box, if I don't totally muck my one up I'll be a happy man.
    Final thing want to say I found the video super useful for giving me an idea of what I need to do and how it should look, how much to cut out and things. Also enjoyed it more sewing you shoot the young one, he's a good shot hitting those 4mm at the distance you were.

    Getting ready to get started on making one myself. One suggestion I might make is to replace the paracord with some steel dowel rods from your local hardware store. The cord has nice flexibility, but the steel would have longevity. Otherwise, awesome design!

    • @ATOMark
      @ATOMark  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I was thinking about that but was concerned about ricochet. I even stopped useing metal flippers. I had a few rebound and hit me in the chest. This is why I went with rope. It is not so bad I can change the targets really fast and swap them easily if I want.

    I too am thinking of getting a similar barrel. I was using a stacking bin from Canadian tire but it's all shot out now. Also l am using a Titan magnatic tool to recover the shots. This is like a car antena with a magnet on the tip. It can be extended to about 24"

  • @Facewizard13
    @Facewizard13 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well it looks like the only flaw to this catchbox is when you hit that metal spinner, the rounds look like they bounce out. You could use the magnet on the string and pick up the shots that bounce out I guess. Good stuff...I might to to do this myself. Thanks for the video!

    • @ATOMark

      I actually switched these flippers out to plastic ones from wasp after one bounced all the way back and hit me in the chest. They are fine when they are new but when they start to spoon out they start to send them back. I would avoid them if possible.
