@@-James-A she did. I just hate that episode. I meant for this to be a Stand alone comment not a reply lol. But it's just not a good episode imo. I don't like what a b!tch they turned Matty into.
Some of my favorites are: 1. Peggy refuses to let the Flyin' Hawaiin get a shoddy education and she fights the high school faculty, Hank, and Hank's club, only relenting when she was tricked into believing David was mentally challenged. 2. Threatening to kick out Luanne if she kept trying to destroy Bobby and Hank's relationship over her anti-Halloween nonsense. 3. Helping Hank find closure with his father by lying about his last words.
I agree! king of the hill would lose a ton of its charm if Peggy wasn’t so self righteous and goofy, I mean cmon “spa-Peggy and meat balls” is just fucking gold
@SAWhowhatnow tbf most of those villains are badass or enviable in some respect, Peggy is not really any of those things. She's still a great well written character though
I gotta admit that Cotton Hill was impressive for taking a punch to the face from Peggy without flinching. She's shown several times that she's physically quite strong, running fast enough to impress a star football player, sending Leanne flying with a single kick, and punching out grown men on several occasions. Granted, Peggy was weakened, but it was clearly enough force to make him bleed.
My favorite Peggy moment is when she gives Bobby a trophy for being the best him he could be. Bobby was already feeling bad because he had no trophies like his dad, but this little gesture meant so much to Bobby in that moment. This was in the episode where Hank carries the Olympic Torch.
Worst B-plots sounds like an awesome video idea! Always good to see people give Peggy the respect she deserves... "Some." She's flawed, but she tries and she cares. A-tier mom, tbh.
Right? At the end of the day, they are happily married and her son and neice love her. I think her "unlikable" traits are freaking hilarious when paired with poor sweet Hank and Bob's wacky self. Compared to other adult cartoon parents, Hank and Peggy are definitely A tier😂
While being flawed in hilarious ways, she was always portrayed as an excellent family member. She was always there and always looking out for her family.
Fun tidbit: I'm a social worker and explained that Titus joke about the penny and the light socket just today when explaining how parenting styles differ.
All the hate she gets proves she's, at the very least, a perfectly written and acted character. Annnnnddddd you say exactly that as I was typing this out, oh well. Peggy/Kathy Najimi are funny as hell, IMO, couldn't have KOTH without em.
I hated Peggy growing up, but in my adult years I’ve noticed a quality that makes Peggy so much more tolerable. She is loyal. More so than almost anyone in the show. Her and Hank are perfect together
My absolute favorite Peggy moment is in Jumpin' Crack Bass when Peggy hears someone breaking into the house, she alerts Hank and then breaks off a chair leg ready to absolutely beat to holy hell out of someone.
Peggy’s unfailing loyalty to Hank, and Hank’s total acceptance of who Peggy is, are actually very sweet and endearing qualities. They respect each other and aren’t trying to change each other, for better or worse, and that’s refreshing.
Personally, I think one of Peggy's best moments is in the episode where Bobby's allergic to Ladybird and has to live in the doghouse. Hank seemed to care a lot more about his dog's comfort than his son's well being. While Peggy was the only one looking out for her son's health and reputation.
Peggy's a character that's hard to like, but you get why Hank likes her. Her drive, passion, and compassion make a nice contrast to parents who either put Hank down or largely ignored him. Sometimes I wonder if Hank avoids bruising her ego because he wants her to like herself as much as he likes her. But it's been awhile since I've sat down and watched the show, so I might be blowing hot air. What I'm more confident in is how well Hank and Peggy work as a team. Hank's grounded, down-to-earth demeanor often holds Peggy in check, preventing her worst tendencies from utterly destroying her. Meanwhile, Peggy is more open-minded than Hank is. Granted, not saying a lot. But she's able to coax him into some new ideas sometimes, and can serve as a bridge between Hank and Bobby. Peggy kinda sucks sometimes. A lot of the time. But Hank and Bobby would genuinely be worse off without her, and that counts for a lot.
One thing I disagree with is that Hank did have a loving relationship with his mother. Tillie always was a doting mother, then and now, to Hank, but with all the chaos of being married to Cotton, she was often cowed into submission and lived in her own little world with her figurines, until she worked up the nerve to ditch Cotton for good. She was also stubborn and determined like Peggy, but in a much quieter way. Perhaps that's why Hank always gave Peggy a bit of leeway when she got all stuck up. He saw how Cotton always put down his mother and crushed her spirit, so he couldn't bear to do the same to Peggy.
It’s also very apparent that, for all her flaws, Peggy does deeply, genuinely love her husband. She’s fiercely loyal to Hank and the primary reason she hates Cotton is because he treats Hank so badly. Peggy can be narcissistic and selfish, but she does appreciate that she married a good man and she treats him well despite her other flaws, and despite Hank’s flaws that she puts up with.
In regards to butterfly effect of Saving Buckley, there's a really good quote from Max Payne 2 of all things. "There are no choices. Nothing but a straight line. The illusion comes afterwards, when you ask "why me?" and "what if?". When you look back and see the branches, like a pruned bonsai tree, or forked lightning. If you had done something differently, it wouldn't be you, it would be someone else looking back, asking a different set of questions."
Peggy has done right far more than 5 times, and all the times she's wrong it's usually made to be comedic, often resulting in some punishment for her. People still hate her for some reason and I feel this is in part due to certain episodes that stand out more. I still think she is over hated by people who have issues with their own mother, but again... it's meant to be funny for that exact reason.
I think her lowest point, was purposely helping lucky to fail getting his GED, and I know, she was looking out for luanne, but that was incredibly messed up, lucky was a decent man, wanting to get an education, and be a person to make luanne happy, but peggy thinks he was bringing her down, but let's be honest, luanne as she was really wouldn't have gone further up in life except as a hair stylist, luannes not the brightest, and lucky in luannes life really wouldn't make her any dumber in my opinion
One thing I’ve always liked about Peggy is her loyalty to Hank. She always introduces herself as Peggy HILL, not just Peggy. She may not be good at many things, but damn if she doesn’t love that man.
Square Peg doesn't even get an honorable mention? That was the first one I thought of. She got over her upbringing where she was afraid to even discuss the birds and the bees, and got over a threatening Dale and many other people trying to shut sex ed down, all because she believed in the power of education.
Every time I see a KotH fan proclaim Peggy to be a terrible person, it gives me pause, thinking "These people must have had such an easy upbringing." My mother was more like Peggy's mother, and my father like Cotton Hill. To say it was rough is such an understatement; it was Hell.
I have always had a soft spot for Peggy, even though she's so awful most episodes, because the exact time the parachuting accident and learning to walk again stuff was happening in the show, I was having to learn how to walk again for the 3rd time as a kid. I knew exactly how difficult it was and the amount of pain she was going through and she didn't quit and even though it's a cartoon it was just nice to see someone going through what I was going through.
The episode where Cotton uses Peggy and their mutual hatred of each other as motivation for her to recover faster from the skydiving accident is easily one of my favorites. Cotton gets a very well deserved grave plot in a VA cemetery (even though he doesnt use it) and Peggy uses the motivation of literally dancing on his grave as motivation to recover MUCH faster than she would have with traditional PT. Cotton DOES have an ulterior motive, but he genuinely works hard to help Peggy. They both put their all into that.
One of the things I like about Peggy is she is one of the better Mothers on the show. Other then when she stole the turkey because she was jealous of Bobby she does accept her Son for who he is.
Peggy was definitely like a “wrestling heel.” I do feel bad for Peggy for having a toxic relationship with her mom, and respect Peggy for breaking the cycle and being a loving mom.
Peggy is that woman that every office has where people don't necessarily like her, but she's good at her job, and cuts through other people's BS to take care of business. She might have her flaws, but at the end of the day she's effective at getting stuff done.
I like Peg-leg comforting Luanne after the situations with Trip in Pigmallion Tried to protect her, ended up reinforcing Luanne's ability to whoop ass by her own self. Pigmallion was a great episode to call out Peggy's overstepping and accepting that Luanne should make her own life decisions.
Man, I’ve been waiting for this episode. Peggy catches so much crap, and much of it is deserved, but just like you said, that’s the intention of the writers. I think sometimes towards the last half of the series, the writers would sorta get low on ideas and just say “eh, let’s have Peggy do something ridiculously narcissistic”. One of my fav Peggy moments is small, but it meant a lot to me: when she quietly rinsed the blood off the grill of Hank’s truck when they come back from La Grunta. That was such a warm moment.
I'd love to see you cover the worst B plots! For anyone who doesn't know this, Henry Winkler played Arthur Fonzerelli on Happy Days, a caricature of a 1950s stereotype of a juvenile delinquent.
Being an entertaining not real person on my tv is better than being an annoying not real person on my tv. Did I mention how it doesn’t matter what the characters have actually done bc they’re not real? Bc being annoying to the audience is the closest you can get to being real, and that’s even worse
She drove off the road, so bobby couldn't read the sign. She literally risked her and Bobby's life. So bobby couldn't read a sign about the hotdog eating contest.
@@TheWedabest you know I plumb forgot how they got there. The image of Bobby Hill happily catching a fish with his bare hands was more novel and impactful than some reckless driving played for laughs in a funny cartoon b plot. But that’s just me. 🤷♀️
I appreciate how she fought for Connie to be able to wrestle. It ties to her being put down from playing with the guys, and showed an interesting dynamic between caring for her own son, or the girl "picking up the bat ripped out of her hands."
Peggy is one of my favorite characters. She's not one of my favorite people, but she is a fantastic character. She has some of my favorite jokes in the series. I'd love to see a video on the worst B plots. I'd also love to see an episode on the best B plots. I feel like most people agree on the worst of list and the result is a list of episodes I'm probably already skipping anyways, but a discussion on a best of list results in a discussion where every person is right and it's fun to watch everyone's suggestions. Also Cotton wanted the military plot because a civilian cemetery is no place for a child's birthday party 😉
Next top 5 times the cast was in the most danger. Peggy's birthday on the train and the gun guy showing she can't have a fun time. The guys in the water without a way to get back on the ship. The tunnels that Hank had to scream at the guys to escape. Hank and cotton running for their life from the Vietnam guys. And so on.
You forgot when Dale and Bill bury themselves alive in a bulldozer. Or when Bobby, Joseph and Connie get stuck in the caves. (Can you tell I'm claustrophobic?)
@@radagast7200 just made the list of stuff off the top of my head. We also got the tornado where Hank was being blown away Peggy skydiving. Bill working out too hard. And everything dale does
@@kylegarrison6216 yeah and funny enough they wanted to make that non canon in the deleted scene same with Hank being a new Yorker Also the mc mansion would also be a dangerous episode since everyone would have gotten hurt too. Oh and Peggy causing a mustard gas situation
Merna, is one of the scariest characters on King of the Hill. Its the way she's drawn, and her contrast to Lucky. Like the whole episode I was like "if this bitch snaps I think Cotton is gonna make it 50 men and 1 lady"
I always considered that one of the more obvious dream episodes. Probably Peggy’s dream rather than Bill’s this time. But including a celebrity, the inconsistencies with established canon and her mother’s extreme behavior would all indicate a dream in which she’s trying to work out her issues with her mother. Which would be why Bobby isn’t interacting much with his grandmother, the dream isn’t focused on him.
Bill cooks with charcoal? Surprised Hank wasn't berating him over that, saying that he is poisoning that meat while ironicqlly overlooking the agent orange drum
Quick thing, if buckley was too injured to blow up the mega-low mart then hank would still be out of the job since buck fired had to close arlen's strickland Maybe buck could have transferred hank to whatever other Stricklands buck would move to but thats a maybe
i love that you always include Leanne's expression when she goes forkin crazy. the animators know that when a woman makes that expression, its time to get the hell away from her.
She also chewed Buck and his son out when they were screwing around at the Propane Hall of Flame event and got them to fix things by setting up the "VIP suite" and getting Hank off the hot seat
I didn't know Peggy was purposely written to be annoying. She was still a better Mom figure to Luanne than Leanne ever was. Also: B plots! B plots! B plots!
Peggy killed Trip tho. She's the one who activates the killing spike. She may have activated the stun part that at least temporarily cured him, but as I remember it, she's shown button mashing and then the spike starts. So there's a chance that without Peggy, Trip could have been cured and given Luanne a generous settlement, attached to an NDA of course.
Despite her flaws, I don't hate Peggy as a character. Sure, her arrogance gets on my nerves, mainly because I can't stand arrogant people, in general, but she seems to have good intentions, for the most part.
I'm guessing luannes parents as two. Butting into Hank and cottons relationship three. The medieval king guy as four and luannes baby situation at five.
Bill deserves a lot more hate, he has betrayed everyone on rainy street multiple times even after they've been there for him and even saved his life on multiple occasions.
It was very small but Peggy calling Junie Harper out is probably one of if not my favorite good moment from her. Not only because the line “Do not try to one up me or I’ll one up yours” is fantastic, but because she’s pointing out that Junie isn’t superior to anyone for any reason, as anyone can and has done what she has but doesn’t go around being a total ass about it.
Just found your channel yesterday man and I’ve watched probably every single KOTH breakdown you’ve put out. Great stuff man keeps me less bored at work!
I like that you tried to be fair with Peggy here. I'm not the biggest fan of her personality shift in some of the later episodes either, but she has her redeeming qualities. Also, yes, a countdown in the worst b-plots sounds fun. Maybe a fellow up with your favorites could be good too
You've recently gotten me to rewatch King of the Hill, and after watching episode after episode, I understand even better now that Peggy's ego is as subtle as a freight train trying to make up for lost time. P.S. This was a shower thought and I told myself "I'll write this comment the next time he makes a video about Peggy" literally a week ago.
My favorite was when she advocated for Hank to go to the shooting competition with Bobby, even though he’s a terrible shot, and Bobby very much is a great one. Even if he’s embarrassed by his own inadequacy, it’s something Bobby wants to do with him, that he would ordinarily advocate for, and that he shouldn’t crush Bobby’s dreams like that
Let's not forget the ep where she took down the Alamo company by giving the execs the tainted beer from Mehico after seeing the CEO rebuke Hank (she doesn't even TAKE CREDIT for it, Peggy the woman who made Spa-Peggy and Meatballs and Apple Brown Peggy)
I would do a reshuffle. Switch 2 and 5. There's a reason. Earlier in LeAnn saga, LeAnn was curling 5 gallons worth of sand, perfectly balanced on a broom, one handed. Don't know the weight in sand, 5 gallons of paint is 50 lbs. And Peggy stopped it, no recoil, dead stop.
5 gallons of sand depends a lot on the type but if we assume it's construction sand you're looking at about 1600kg/m^3. A gallon is 0.00379m^3, so multiply that by 1600 and you get 30.32kg or 66.84 pounds per bucket. So yeah, Leanne is curling no less than 70 pounds if you include the weight of the shovel and a little leeway since the buckets were overfilled. Damn. Peggy should've taken up boxing with Luanne.
Some of my favorite Peggy Hill moments: Winning that Boggle tournament despite being dead last after the first round, and managing to find the word "acquaintanceship" in the process Showing her artistic side with her propane tank sculptures and doing taxidermy with Dale Getting her money back from Vayzosa. She may be naïve but she is a hell of a schemer Standing up for what she believed in by refusing to just give David "The Flyin' Hawaiin" a passing grade despite pressure from other schoolnstaff, the boosterclub, and even Hank. Even David felt she was right and sought tutoring from her.

Then she had a problem when hank did hire her!
People who hate Peggy more than Buck or Cotton or Nancy don't make any sense to me.
I agree 1000% She gets way to much unwarranted hate, not that she's a saint, but she's better than a few characters I can think of😂
Escuchame? Or w.e Peggy says when she means to say excuse me in Spanish 😂 my g.f haaaates margarita hill.
Cotton is the worst
Being an entertaining not real person on my tv is better than being an annoying not real person on my tv. Did I mention how it doesn’t matter what the characters have actually done bc they’re not real? Bc being annoying to the audience is the closest you can get to being real, and that’s even worse

Two small but lovely moments with Peggy and Bobby: when she teaches him to “fish” and that hug she gives him when he’s pulled from the Boneyard ❤
"Why don't you edit the yearbook, Peggy? You're so good with paste and scissors."
Cotton’s Plot is a great episode
The King of the Hill squirrel channel has incredibly consistent content and schedule.
We also got the tornado where Hank was being blown away
Peggy skydiving.
Bill working out too hard.
And everything dale does
The tank incident would easily be high up there since Bill accidentally drove the tank to the middle of a war zone with the guys inside
@@kylegarrison6216 yeah and funny enough they wanted to make that non canon in the deleted scene same with Hank being a new Yorker
Also the mc mansion would also be a dangerous episode since everyone would have gotten hurt too. Oh and Peggy causing a mustard gas situation
In the reboot they need to give Bill a break let him find love for good
It would be great if Khan's mom returns. They were a lovely couple.
I think Peggy would be unpleasantly surprised to discover that getting kicked in the goodies is also incredibly painful for women.
In that episode, she was bluffing, and after everyone left, she was limping.
Merna, is one of the scariest characters on King of the Hill. Its the way she's drawn, and her contrast to Lucky. Like the whole episode I was like "if this bitch snaps I think Cotton is gonna make it 50 men and 1 lady"
No one makes you learn something quite like Ken Titus 🤗🤣
Bobby and his grandma never interacting was always weird to me
Bobby probably reminded her to much of Cotton. Hell, they're spitting images.
2:45 HOLY SHIT I never knew it was an Agent Orange Drum!!
That's like a Simpsons level visual gag.
The more important thing was that I never saw a propane tank?
Bill cooks with charcoal? Surprised Hank wasn't berating him over that, saying that he is poisoning that meat while ironicqlly overlooking the agent orange drum
Quick thing, if buckley was too injured to blow up the mega-low mart then hank would still be out of the job since buck fired had to close arlen's strickland
Maybe buck could have transferred hank to whatever other Stricklands buck would move to but thats a maybe
i love that you always include Leanne's expression when she goes forkin crazy. the animators know that when a woman makes that expression, its time to get the hell away from her.
2:28 Is that Titus? Man that's a memory unlocked.
Yep, so underrated
Love that old show!
Really glad you mentioned Peggy's recovery. I was hoping you would cover that emotional journey in a video. Thank you.
"i am not a fan of Peggy Hill"
How can you say something so controversial yet so brave?
She also chewed Buck and his son out when they were screwing around at the Propane Hall of Flame event and got them to fix things by setting up the "VIP suite" and getting Hank off the hot seat
Seriously, they made little toys of squirrels in tanks now. SWUIRREL TACTICS!
("Donburi squirrel tank")
I saw tyhem at the store and had to go tell Squirrel tactis
I'm so glad you played the "She's bluffing. Finish her!" line that Kahn yelled. It makes me laugh every time.
Honorable mention: when Peggy threatened to kick out Luanne when she crossed the line with her anti-Halloween bias with Bobby.
Trip purposely tells her to pull the wrong lever
@@Commander_Bern you're right. That's what I get for trusting my memory.
Her take on Phoenix AZ is nothing but facts
As a former Phoenixian absolutely... I cannot stand going outside 6 months of the year.
Despite her flaws, I don't hate Peggy as a character. Sure, her arrogance gets on my nerves, mainly because I can't stand arrogant people, in general, but she seems to have good intentions, for the most part.
Also, it appears Bill is not grilling with propane....
When Bill was making the family recipe BBQ he built a wood fired pit. A Louisiana man does not BBQ with propane. 😂
The B Plot idea would be great for a video!!
I'm guessing luannes parents as two. Butting into Hank and cottons relationship three. The medieval king guy as four and luannes baby situation at five.
I appreciate Peggy as a nuisanced character. She has profound persistent flaws, but they all have a logic to them and love for her family.
I really liked the one where she outsmarted the guy who sold them PHDs with the fake casino and the wall safe.
"you're not gonna do that again!" I miss being a child of the 90s
Bill deserves a lot more hate, he has betrayed everyone on rainy street multiple times even after they've been there for him and even saved his life on multiple occasions.
Bill saved the hill family and saved the guys from a live fire range!
I'm glad you made a positive video about Peggy. I love Peggy!
I honestly appreciate that you made this!
I like that you tried to be fair with Peggy here. I'm not the biggest fan of her personality shift in some of the later episodes either, but she has her redeeming qualities.
Also, yes, a countdown in the worst b-plots sounds fun. Maybe a fellow up with your favorites could be good too
When you used the clip from Titus with his dad letting him put the penny in the power outlet hit such a nostalgic spot for me
4:16
Best scene of the entire series
10:00
Props to Bill for not being *THAT* desperate and doing the right thing by just leaving
Ken Titus sighting
You've recently gotten me to rewatch King of the Hill, and after watching episode after episode, I understand even better now that Peggy's ego is as subtle as a freight train trying to make up for lost time.
P.S. This was a shower thought and I told myself "I'll write this comment the next time he makes a video about Peggy" literally a week ago.
Pls do the weakest b-plots.
Thanks for all the great vids!
My favorite was when she advocated for Hank to go to the shooting competition with Bobby, even though he’s a terrible shot, and Bobby very much is a great one. Even if he’s embarrassed by his own inadequacy, it’s something Bobby wants to do with him, that he would ordinarily advocate for, and that he shouldn’t crush Bobby’s dreams like that
Wow, I did not expect a clip from Titus in this video? Nice.
Love how kahn said shes bluffing finish her
Let's not forget the ep where she took down the Alamo company by giving the execs the tainted beer from Mehico after seeing the CEO rebuke Hank (she doesn't even TAKE CREDIT for it, Peggy the woman who made Spa-Peggy and Meatballs and Apple Brown Peggy)
B moments sounds fun.
Peggy is definitely someone you hate. But when you love her, you LOVE her.
Can you do a review on each episode and each season
Peggy learning to walk again was one of my favorite episodes
both Peggy and Cotton got to shine
Some of my favorite Peggy Hill moments:
Winning that Boggle tournament despite being dead last after the first round, and managing to find the word "acquaintanceship" in the process
Showing her artistic side with her propane tank sculptures and doing taxidermy with Dale
Getting her money back from Vayzosa. She may be naïve but she is a hell of a schemer
Standing up for what she believed in by refusing to just give David "The Flyin' Hawaiin" a passing grade despite pressure from other schoolnstaff, the boosterclub, and even Hank. Even David felt she was right and sought tutoring from her.
Boggle?

Definitely wasn't expecting a Titus clip in a KOTH video, but it was a welcome surprise!
I've been following you for about the past year or so. I absolutely love your breakdowns of KOTH episodes and characters. It really is a show that resonates with a lot of people, but especially us Texas natives. I really feel at home watching that show because I can relate and know people like that IRL! I about fell out of my seat when I heard you were from Longview. Keep up the good work man. Always love seeing your insight and content. Much love from a neighboring fan in Tyler. 😄
it's a good day for a new Squirrel Tactic
My favorite peggy moment is tricking that scammer with a fake safe in the hotel
