It feels like the time is just flying by, I can't believe it's already week 16! I think the floors will look beautiful when they are all installed together, it's easy to feel like it doesn't match when you see all the planks separated :)
Haha I like how you assumed that when someone asked about a 'bit of color' it meant that we all had dark red walls. Yikes! I am sure a bit of color means just not everything stark white. It seems that trends are turning away from that now. We recently redid some rooms in our house and chose white with a touch of light blue for our bedroom. I love it! It feels very calming. We also chose a drop of grey for the livingroom because we have grey stone on the new fireplace and then a drop of beige for our basement but JUST A TOUCH because I hate builder beige. It's a preference to have some color and not everything white for sure. I've done the all white too but then started adding back just drops of color now. But I don't think people are doing red since 2005 when everyone and their mom had a red accent wall in the main living space. I did it and then a few years later HATED it! Now when I see it I immediately think someone hasn't painted since the late 90s early 00s.

I always think white is the way to go when u first move to a new place, then as you get furniture and art in you can figure out the vibe you want to go for in each room, and maybe do an accent wall or different colours in some rooms if you feel it would work😊

My husband is a contractor and built our house from scratch. From choosing the plans to clearing the land ourselves to paint - took him 3 years, nights & weekends because he still had to work, of course. I loved every bit of making all the choices. I totally understand your attention to detail - he had to wait 4 days to frame the living room wall so I could decide furniture placement in order to decide on how many windows. 😂 It’s been 16 years now and we’ve started making aesthetic changes because your style changes over time. It’s all worth it in the end, I promise. Looking forward to watching you enjoy your new home. ❤️

My ex-hubby & I owned a commercial reno co., & stayed busy; however, we had a 3-wk lapse once between contracts, so we kept our crews busy by gutting our home & redoing everything- even lots of furniture! I designed my 3yr old daughter's rm, & bc I was one of those Ty Beanie Baby Moms, she had sev 100 (lol). I had a shelf built high up, 8in from ceiling all around her room, & put the beanies up there - too cute! The shelving was made using dbl crown molding to match new chair rail. I also chose everything for the 4th bed/office - made a budget, got a daybed, huge armoire that hid the computer, light sand-colored med shag carpet, & layers of pillows/curtains all in matching cream/beige - just beautiful! Am loving watching your reno! It'll be so worth it when it's done! It's fun to decorate, & I can't wait to see the final result!
So my husband and I basically renovated our entire first home. All new vinyl siding, brand new kitchen, brand new bathrooms, flooring, scrapped the ceiling , new garage door and some plumbing. We bought it when the market was down and made a profit off of the sale when the market went back up and in turn we bought our dream home (which we just by chance) we originally wanted to build but I happened to come across the listing and we got it! So blessed and thankful. We learned SOOO much from renovating our first home and found out we are capable of doing so much more than we thought we could!

Looking great so far!!! Make sure to check you kitchen cabinets before installing to make sure they aren't damaged. I just received my order of kitchen a cabinets and a few of them came damaged. Although we were told that it happens, now it just pushes our reno timeline back.

@@imtaramichelle I have Chantilly Lace in my home and it's a very stark white - it will make anything with a yellow undertone look dingy like your tiles which are warmer. I'd look in to painting the bathroom a color vs. Chantilly lace as you'll have the same problem! It's the stark white against the yellow tiles which is what you don't like. You could do it that sea pearl color which would look nice against the shower tiles and make them pop like you want!

I have the exact blinds. Love them. Make sure you get blackout curtains. If you don’t get the black out ones, during the day it’s amazing Bc the light come in through the blinds. But at night, If you have lights on you can see straight in. Just keep that in mind.

Tara I’m in the design field, am also extremely picky about flooring, and I’m also not a big fan of a “Gray” floor and I personally think your floor choice is beautiful it’s going to come together so wonderfully I can tell !!! It ALWAYS feels super stressful making big and expensive decisions and even the most professional of the professionals doubt their decisions or get nervous to see them lol it is all going to come together in the end and you’ll be much happier than seeing piece by piece and questioning each decision before it’s done!

The floors look perfect and love the crisp white paint best. Everything is coming together nicely! Also, I think maybe since there is a lot of blue on the walls, that can be reflected and give the room a cooler tone, which could have made the wood for the floors appear cooler/grayer. After they sanded and painted white, the wood floors should appear more of the actual tone.
Have to say, I’m kinda sad the little fireplace in your study won’t be functional. Even with a tiny gas fire? Imagine working in there with the glow of the fire, and the background crackle of (fake) wood…. On another note, LOVE my start somewhere sweatshirt that just arrived, and have snatched up a pink hat too.
I can see where your coming from on the wood tiles. At first they did look grey but I think that’s because of the lighting in the room. I agree with Marcy- when everything is put together your gonna love it 🤗 ❤️

My whole apartment is painted in Chantilly Lace and I have zero complaints. You'll never get tired of it and it doesn't clash with anything.

The floors look perfect and love the crisp white paint best. Everything is coming together nicely! Also, I think maybe since there is a lot of blue on the walls, that can be reflected and give the room a cooler tone, which could have made the wood for the floors appear cooler/grayer. After they sanded and painted white, the wood floors should appear more of the actual tone.

Have to say, I’m kinda sad the little fireplace in your study won’t be functional. Even with a tiny gas fire? Imagine working in there with the glow of the fire, and the background crackle of (fake) wood…. On another note, LOVE my start somewhere sweatshirt that just arrived, and have snatched up a pink hat too.
I can see where your coming from on the wood tiles. At first they did look grey but I think that’s because of the lighting in the room. I agree with Marcy- when everything is put together your gonna love it 🤗 ❤️
