LegitDigitSky frankly, it's an epidemy of youtube where somebody who has no relevant/notable experience in a field googles a bunch of things, and makes a video about, not asking experts or people who deal with typography daily. Channels such as Kurzgesagt get it right, they research properly. Channels such as half as interesting do this right by making videos on events and such, where the research needed is simple. But this? This is taking an extremely complex, deep, and difficult field of design that everybody seems to take for granted, and takes it for granted by limiting the research to a bunch of google searches. There are things said right in this video, there's things said wrong, and people with no background in type have no good way of telling which is which. As boomer as it sounds, Google is hardly ever enough to do actual research on this sort of topic.
You have to like how they only used Helvetica for many fonts. Helvetica was used on the beginning episode titles and closing credits of Muppet Babies (1984-1992), the closing credits of season 1 of The Transformers: Generation 2 (1993-1994).
Hi, thanks for uploading this video. I like the content. The background sound is terrible we could not hear it clearly. The guiding voice is too fast and both background and voice are overlapping. Can you please fix it and upload it again.....please.?
LOL. The only reason why Helvetica was chosen by so many brands is because they save money on printing and stitching label. Nothing to do with fashion or design.
The sound on this video is terrible. His voice is to low and the music is to high
Yeah... I´m from Brazil and I speak Portuguese. My english is well but in this video, I had a big difficult to understand what the guy was saying
Talks too fast also 😅
That could be another video
Easy opportunity to name this episode Behind the TYPE
TYPE BEAST
2:16 Whatever high pitched dog whistle sounds are in the audio for this video are driving me absolutely *INSANE*.
I don't hear it, though if I scroll back slightly I hear something like a train horn. Of course I know people's hearing vary greatly.
I hear it too
1:57 The new Burberry and Balmain logos are NOT Helvetica. Do your homework right!
He didn't say they were......
This is probably the worst researched video on typography!
nice negativity bro

@@murdasky nice finger pointing bro
@@nuloom nicely stated! Kurzgesagt gets it very right indeed!
@@nuloom what are the things said wrong?
0:41 not helvetica
My personal favorite helvetica version font is swiss 721.
I just installed HelveticaNeue font to my samsung phone and it's hella pleasing to look at compared to the stock android font.
like usual, hypebeast about 20 years late on something that has already been covered in fashion.
Helvetica was used on the closing credits of Sesame Street from 1982-1983 (season 14).
Mitchell Davis was way ahead of his time.
Man this played like an Action Thriller
0:15 is a .... mistake. Die is not die like death its german for the and die doesn't sound like dye and neue does not sound like nooey
Sabbath black is gonna be the new wave

Too bad almost none of the fonts shown as examples are actually Helvetica. Not all Sans Serif fonts are Helvetica.
2:55 did you just confuse CALIBRI with helvetica??? they have almost nothing in common, how could you mess up THIS bad??
It just reminds me of the old iOS Days
American Airlines planes used to have Helvetica on them, but the AA planes in your video do not.
You have to love how they only used Helvetica for most fonts
Very educational 🏆
The guy talking is not understandable
I love it... It's my current font on my phone
Helvetica standard

I loved this video, well executed!
PC is not a operating system. Windows don't have Helvetica, but Arial. Not all fonts you show are helvetica.
dude prolly speaking around 3.00 AM
voice-over guy is going to sleep? man i'm asleep
My professors hate this type
1:57 Why
Why is the music so loud
hot topic: the audio in this video is alright and i heard everything he said
Every brand who uses helvetica is a clone
Agreed, especially those three that changed
Tom Fitzgerald now it's harder to distinguish the brands by looking at the font
I hear nothing goddamnit
design is c o o l
Bro, speak louder
hi I'm totally not from a Helvetica Standard meme video
sorry but instagram (and american air) does not use helvetica!
We breath Helvetica
Awesome video, hypebeast deserves 10mil followers at least
Mass conformity. Sign of the times.
You talk too fast and your sound is not balanced
Helvetica in word is called Arial (a bad looking copy of Helvetica)
voice sounds like it's double speed... hard to follow for students
The biggest myth in design is that sans serif fonts don’t have any personality...
While "Trajan" is to films
Every punk art nowadays are using this font
