      It's been like that for years with Asus. Only Strix-E and above has the seven segment display.
      The good thing is that other brands such as MSI / GB / Asrock started to implement them on their mid range boards.
      Asus didn't want to follow the trend it seems.

      @@GerardFreeman every motherboard over 300$ is a waste of money (unless you have very specific use case, but it is 0.01% of people). You can buy really nice AM5 motherboards for 150$. I have no idea how Intel will compete with AMD this year, AMD is better in almost every aspect. Also last gen of Intel will be around providing better price to performance while having the same performance lol.

    I would probably pick the Asus Prime Z890-P WIFI as the most basic, like the feature set on this one better for price comparison it is quite a bit less expensive than the Tuf version. I was thinking about getting ASUS again, but disappointed in the feature set compared to other manufacturers and now leaning towards a Gigabyte board due to addition of LED readouts and adding Start and reset buttons on their motherboards. Asus appears to be wanting to still charge extra for these features which should be standard

    The F can do 5, the E can do 6 m.2 ports without limiting the PCIE x16 slot.

    • @TechTesters
      @TechTesters  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It's pretty typical due to the lane limitation, but I'll look into the details of Hero vs Strix E/F, as that doesn't sound great.

    • @GrYnDonGaming
      @GrYnDonGaming 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Still better then last gen, the only way you can get past the limits of the cpu lanes is to go xeon and that can be 10k plus...

      @@GrYnDonGaming THe original Z790 Hero could handle 5 gen 4 ssds + 6 sata ssds + 1 gen4x16 GPU with no limitations.

    • @Waldherz

    Something worth mentioning, AFAIC, is the number of supported thermal sensors. Placing temperature probes at strategic places in the case (e.g., on a tower cooler, or at the GPU backplate) can give one really nice smooth fan control (avoiding spikes from internal CPU sensors, for instance).

    Not sure were you got your math at but 11months ago I bought the z790-f wifi and the price was 269.99 and now the z890-f wifi is 499.99 the 230.00 difference almost double, I bought it in oct the day intel released the i9-14900k. thanks for sharing

      But at that point the z790-f was already out for a good while. The original msrp wasnt very different from the new z890-f.

    The Z890 ProArt seems a bit underwhelming, especially at its price.. I have the ProArt case on standby for my new build. But leaning towards the ASRock Taichi or Taichi OCF. Maximus Hero may be my other option, depending on price, and features.
    I'd definitely like to get a CAMM2 motherboard if possible though. Heard they're supposed to launch before the end of the year. Be holding off until they show up to the scene.
    I'd plan on doing some overclocking with the 285k Air Cooled + CAMM2. I've always been an enthusiast for air cooling my systems.

      I'll have to test if you can use these Thunderbolt ports for display out, I'm pretty sure you couldn't on previous gens (except for boards with DP IN). But at least things like Quicksync should be usable now.

    We keep losing expansion slots for nvm-e. I'm probably in the minority of users who'd rather have the versatility of expansion slots for add-ons (sound/capture/ethernet/nvm-e...). These humongous graphics cards usually cover any expansion nowadays!
