Put the Soft TX16S springs on the AG01 minis, you may need to increase the screw length (M1.7 course thread) on the adjustment mechanism (for a little more adjustment range) OR just put a little spacer under to tension the spring a couple of millimetres. Before I changed the screws to longer ones I just cut a 2 mm piece of 18AWG wire and put it under the spring tension mechanism (the bottom of the well, where the tension adjustment screw would push against). I just had to do it for pitch, or was it roll, I don’t remember. Only one axis.
I like all axis adjusted the same to around 20-22grams at maximum travel. Except throttle of course, I like that with zero resistance or tension.
The longer springs (from the TX16S) keep the tension very similar throughout the movement range, and don’t increase so much towards the outside edges.
I love it! So much better! I hate short springs… or stiff springs for that matter. I want a small amount of linear tension just to hold a good centre, not fight my movement.
You said it all - smooth, continuous, light tension from 1000 to 2000 is on point. I feel like I have it. However, I may open it back up and give your experiment a try- makes absolute sense. The Zorro springs have a very small amount of turns in the coil. I appreciate your feedback...🍻
TX12 user here. I have run hundreds of packs with it, and the gimbals are holding up really well. They're not Hall sensors, though, and are going to get noisy sometime soon. I was planning on getting the AG01s when that day arrives. However, based on what you've said here, I may opt for the stock Hall sensor units instead. I have no issues with the stick feel on what I have now, so I would probably be happy with them.
I don't dought your theory at all, the stock Zorro gimbles are very nice. I had the first QX7 and those gimbles were physical touch potentiometers. They started to fail and my memory of those stock gimbles and the upgrade "Halls" are still not as good as the Zorro stockers.. Please, if you will, come back and let me know your results. I just want newer FPVers to know, the gimbles are very nice and they are in no means needing to be upgraded to make the radio great - especially for 100 bones...🤑
@@propsoff I blew through the gimbals on my old Jumper T8SG. They got really noisy, forcing me to dial up the expo on the radio to ridiculous just to deal with the spiking. It was like flying with a pair of old Atari 2600 joysticks: full off or full on, no middle.

@@propsoff I went with a popular coal-fired joystick. My favourite from that era was the Kraft. Five simple switches, bomb-proof, and thumb-driven. Still the best game controller of all time, imho.
@@propsoff As you asked, I'm back. Got the AG01s today and whacked 'em in toot-de-sweet. Went into my TX12 easy as cake. I've only flown a single pack with them on my daily driver [2-inch, 2S whoop] and I can honestly say they shattered my expectations, and I was keeping them real. These units are brilliant, and I recommend them to everyone who can afford 'em. They will make your flying experience that much the better. Like I said: one pack was all I needed to tell, and I've been at this hobby since 2017. They're that good.

I appreciate your feedback. The AG01 gimbles in the mini version are not worth the extra money ($99us).. If I knew then what I know now, I wouldn't have popped the extra cash...🍻
nice! I love the zorro but my grips need to be reglued on as they just came right off. but the feel of the sticks I like a lot more than the tango 2. AGO are tempting but I think it going to run down the stalk and so tempted to buy a tx12...
I agree, I do like the Zorro stock gimbles over the Tango. The grip/battery covers seem to pop off too easy - especially if you squeeze while you fly. The TX12 seems likeable, but I'm done buying...🤣

Does the throttle stick have a rachet adj?
I have looked at five Zorros here at the race, not seeing the ratchet feature. Apologies, I don't recall the AG01 Mini having a double sided cam...🤔
Thank you for the reply, after more research unless I’m mistaken it does not have a ratchet like the TX 16. However, there is a tension adjuster screw in the back of the radio that you can tighten it. It makes it a little different to move back-and-forth which is just all I want it I don’t care if it’s ratchet I just want a little bit more attention Suply set it for the throttle it stays there but not too much.
