    Thanks for talking about the water/spraying issues going on down here. Great breakdown of the lake.

    Great breakdown! Beyond the habitat destruction from spraying, the constant tournament pressure has really done a number on the lake. It will be interesting to see how the Elite series fishes after weeks of other tournaments hammering the community holes that everyone fishes.

      Tournament pressure definitely can be a big factor when matched with less habitat.

    Thanks for doing a great break down for those of us who have never been to the lake. Great video!

    When I get the Bass Buggy 100% restored, I'm taking her to Florida to fish Okeechobee, The Everglades, The Harris Chain, and whatever else I can fit in while I'm there. She's almost there, but there's a few things I wanna do first.
    They were spraying the lakes around here to kill back the hydrilla and a bunch of anglers got together and put a stop to it. Now they just put them on draw down and it has pretty much the same effect...without the poison in the water.

    Great video. Got back from a week down there yesterday. You're right about quick changes. One area we were in really looked different at the end of the day vs. the beginning.

    there is a canal rim right to the north of port mayaca on the perimeter of the lake ...does anyone know the dept of this? cant really find any info out there and would love some local knowledge!!!! thanks

    • @SonarFishing
      @SonarFishing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s been awhile since I’ve been in there but I do believe theres good depth like most of the rim canal. I usually go left through J&S lock but turning right brings you there.

    Plan to fish the lake from a kayak

    • @SonarFishing
      @SonarFishing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A good place to launch from would be Clewiston or Harney Pond canal. Both of those offer relatively quick access to the lake, unless fishing the rim ditch or Kissimmee River is what you’re after.

    Lake Okeechobee so big but so shallow. Almost too shallow for a person to drown. If you want to live in a middle of nowhere, build a house on stilt in middle of lake Okeechobee. Noone will know you are there.

    I hate to tell you but alot of the grass you see on on the map is gone they have killed all the grass they blame it on the the hurricane but that's a lie most of the grass island's has been killed horse, bird, the monkey box, the west and east walls, ritter, coot bay, football field houseboat, bay bottom grassy island, long point pelican bay all these areas are just about Gone 😥😢😭.

    • @SonarFishing
      @SonarFishing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, the last time I was there in 2021 I was amazed at how different it was! Crazy how things change out there. They like to blame it on hurricanes but we all know why theres less grass than ever.

      Make the spraying illegal. Stop it. How do you think these lakes ever survived before we started messing with maww nature. Lake Apopka is a prime example of what happens when pesticides continue to be added to the lake. It's a disgusting stinking rotting lake that's barely hanging on
