I have had Shepherds ,15 in total ,over the past 40 years . Shepherds are the most incredible ,loyal, intelligent ,brave and honest in heart , dogs of all. ❤
Tripped over this link tonight. Freaking awesome. One of the best memories I have, of things we did with my dad, was him taking my brothers and me to the Innisfail center for a tour. It was many, many years ago and I loved it, but the biggest thing I remember was that they were just starting to ... I don't want to say "experimenting" with, but ... the Belgian Malionis (a breed I would love to have, but don't have the time to put into properly training one). Interesting to see that they have decided against them and kept with the Shepherds. I am also a horse lover and I know it takes a long time to get into the mounted regiment, so I can just imagine the time it would take to get to be a dog handler. The breeding program is way more intense than it was when we were there, but I get it. Keep up the awesome work and koodos to all the handlers that make the cut.
I’m 16 and I highly doubt I’d be able to work with k9s but I’d love too,I’d love to volunteer or work for a breeding or training program not to mention I take courses for companion animals already.
Most are German shepherds. But adopt, don't shop. Most dogs you get online or from the news papers are bred in "puppy mills" where they get little or no medical care, little or no socialization, kept in cramped cages in appalling conditions. It is a horrible business, but at the shelters you are saving a life.
Hello. Something I would like to add. Do your research, a German Shepherd is not for the first time dog owner. Find a reputable AKC merit breeder and talk to them. If possible visit the kennel. Get as much information as you can. Plan on getting a good trainer to help you. Please consider a GSD rescue group. The best GSDs I've had I've gotten from rescue, and not as puppies. Peace and be safe.
@@rachelmartin3631 if you want a dog for working you need to buy from a reputable breeder. Shelters just dont cut it. Theres a difference between a BYB, puppy mill, and actually good breeders. Dont go and try to adopt a dog for this. These dogs are specialty bred for this work and your average shelter dog will not be able to perform.
@@tehyamoberg3942 are local pd adopted a gsd from a rescue and it is now trained as there k9 unit dog it is possible a Florida pd trained a 3 year old pit as there drug/tracking dog it is not a bite dog just for finding lost people and drugs
They never showed the puppies nursing from the mother. Do they take the pups at birth & raise & feed these babies themselves? Also, it seems a shame that the mature dogs'll never get to experience the natural mating experience, when they are artificially inseminated. All in all, an interesting program.
I hope to God they collect eggs and sperms using anesthesia...on animals used for food all the process is done with zero pain assistance, its scrutiating for the animals
I'm so glad TH-cam recommended this series. Very interesting. Amazing, heroic dogs.

All good things to the guy who’s had all those puppies following him. That’s magical.

In USA most departments require you to be 21+ to join then it can take 5 to 10 years to get a dog partner
service dogs are a good way to go. there are classes you can read to the dogs ect to teach them patience.
Very interesting, it would have been cool to see the officers and dogs meeting for the first time though
Great show
Wait-how many constables are chosen to take the course each year? I’m not sure I caught that the first 10 times…
Impressive !
Low-key and I could be a great addition to a team.. especially when he’s invisible in the snow
Awesome
Can i apply to work here... Wanted to work with dogs...encouraging video...
You'd need to be a trained police officer first
You're special k9 Mounties save lives

What do youll do with the puppies that don't make it ??
They get sent to china and sold as chicken nuggets in a fake Mcdonalds named Micdolands.
They are adopted, some go on to make service dogs for people with disabilities. Others become family pets. None of them are euthanized.
Am willing to learn and undergo training it will always dream to work like this kind of work with dog
Maybe change the text above.. Royal Canadian Mounted Police, not Royal Canadian Mountain Police.
What kind of dog are these, i wan't to purchase one immediately.

Well at least I know not to jump on CEE Shaw's to get away from a dog.
Awww 🐾🐕🐾😉💙💜🧡🤎
People say a dog is a mans best friend,,,,but cat won't snitch on you like a dog
Mounties you're jobs all around
What happena to the pupps that dont make it thru.
Probably adopted out as pets
And what happens with the puppies that don't make the cut?
The background music is annoying.
This video would be a whole lot better without that annoying music in the background
I had to stop watching because I'm struggling to hear the narrator, it's a shame looks like it was a good series.
Canadian Aye? 😂😂😂
its not feel wonder right

The pups and moms stay together till 8 weeks old and during that time sounds are played to desentive the pups early on in most places
Spell Dog Backwards to know why Jesus is God. Because He made all things Good.
