This is the second time I've watched this movie. I could never forget it the first time. It has stayed in my mind for years. Now I've watched it again tonight, 01/15/2025. It has touched my heart in such a profound way. Isn't that like God? To lead us through the scariest, worst storms of our lives in such a quiet way? And because we don't know the Spirit, we don't recognize He Is leading us and protecting us at the same time. Then revealing it was Him, all along the way. He never leaves us nor forsakes us, just like He promised.
It's movies like this that reminds us of the perseverance snd strength of our ancestors who forged the way for us. It was "survival of the fittest". We must b cognizant of all the hardships they went through to make us grateful for all that we r currently blessed with. 🙏 TU GOD for the time period u chose for me ✝️ . I m reminded I m always n your hands. ❤
I would like to add to that, that in every generation we have our own hardships but are always thankful that they are not as hard as the generation or two before us, although I have always wanted to be from the Golden age of beauty and fashion. Vanity oh vanity.❤

Even during the Holocaust when millions were tortured and killed? Or died of terrible starvation? Millions! The way I see it is God does whatever He wants. It is not always loving. Much of the OT is not loving. I do not understand this concept of a loving God. His ultimate purpose may be good. But people are suffering everywhere. This is a test of perseverance, not love.

I would have taken the coats and hoods of the people who died. I'm sure they wouldn't have minded. Also the canvas that covers the wagon would make a great tent or cover from the snow. That's when I started losing interest. It just wasn't smart on her part when you are trying not to freeze to death.
I was thinking the same thing. There was a lot of suspension of reality in watching this movie, starting with how nobody would survive a harsh winter in a thin cotton dress.
Or would have made a temporary home for the winter in the abandoned wagon. Staying until Spring. Just leaving shelter to Wander in the cold made no sense.
Yeah, why didn't she take the man's socks with his boots. Why did she take coats and blankets from those frozen people. The story is good except no one should be that stupid to leave survival things behind like she did.
I have seen and believe that the good Lord is always telling me to go and move forward when there is conflict or doubt in my life at one time or another, he says to never look back, keep moving ahead and just have faith he will see me through all my difficulties. I have had many in my lifetime and as I have gotten older I now realize to just keep trusting in the little faith I have and I am always telling everyone my motto "God's got this" when they are going through difficulties themselves. It helps settle me and keeps me focused on him and even today I had fear of a situation and was given scripture that fear is not of the Lord, and I immediately felt that in my spirit and settled right down. Amen.
Beautiful kid though. She could have waited out the winter by the lake eating fish. Plenty of resources on the way like other people's belongings to warm up, camp in a carriage 😢

If you want to see what not to do, this is the movie for you! I live in a remote place where we have to be prepared to do without sometimes and use what we have. This one is totally unprepared for that kind of life and there is a reason why people travelled in large groups to get to another location. Husband was also clueless and surprised no one ever taught them anything. Just getting frustrated watching the bungling of absolutely everything needed for survival so giving up on this one.

I’m pretty sure pioneer women didn’t wear dancing slippers for everyday ( especially on a long journey). Most wore boots and more practical clothing. I enjoyed the movie , but it was very unrealistic and historically incorrect.
Pretty good movie of faith but the description says there was an accident in the beginning. From what I could tell her husband was killed by bandits or thugs that is not an accident

Unrealistic movie! Hard to believe she survived over a frozen night wearing a dress, sleeping on the snow, while other people died of low temperatures. If you want to loose your time you can watch it,
It made sense coz the movie was about faith in God. How she survive without proper clothing and food ut's bcoz she was protected by her God without her knowing.
Her dress should have been ripped and torn..and really didnt eat anything...wonder how long she was out there for??..looks like the boy didnt want to be rescued....wild and free...wonder what he survived on
