    This is a great video on making pillows! It's one of the best thing that I've seen on TH-cam! Thanks very much for making this video!
    The karate chop was way more action than I expected for a sewing video!

    How do you hide the very last knot when you've machine stitched the pillow closed? Or, due to the back stitching, do you just cut off the two strings? Thanks for the video!

    Hi Jann, I see that this video was created a while ago, so I hope your're still answering questions. What is a good fabric to use for pillows. Does it have to be upholstery fabric? Thank you

      I like to use a good quality 54” wide designer fabric. Thanks for watching!

    Great video. May I ask how much fabric you purchased for 2 18x18 pillows. Guessing a yard, but due to the pattern thought maybe 1 1/2 yards.

    What about seam allowances? Or do you like it a little tight so the pillow feels full?

    • @JannNewtonBeautyOver60
      @JannNewtonBeautyOver60  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly. I do not add extra for seam allowances.

    • @JannNewtonBeautyOver60
      @JannNewtonBeautyOver60  ปีที่แล้ว

      I used a decorator fabric for this pillow cover. All purpose thread, and a medium sized needle. Thanks for watching!

  • @babblesp1367
    @babblesp1367 ปีที่แล้ว

    I tried sewing the bottom edge, but I couldn’t do it because it was just too tight. I had to hand sew it closed, and I hate hand sewing, lol.

      Sorry. It can be tricky, which is why I recently created a new video which shows a trick for machine sewing a pillow closed. It really makes it easier. How To Machine Sew A Pillow Closed - th-cam.com/video/cmAzGg81OmY/w-d-xo.html

    Just learning how to sew so my question might be silly, but why do you back stitch?

    • @JannNewtonBeautyOver60
      @JannNewtonBeautyOver60  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question! Backstitching helps to keep your stitches from coming out. Almost like knotting your thread when you hand sew. Thanks for watching!

    Thank you so much for this tutorial! You remind me so much of my middle school (I think) home ec teacher!! She was the sweetest lady! Thank you so much for that quick little reminder.
    Can I ask a question though…I am relearning how to sew….I have noticed when I back stitch my bobbin area is tangling. How do I stop that?

    • @JannNewtonBeautyOver60
      @JannNewtonBeautyOver60  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are so welcome! The threads tangling at the beginning of sewing is pretty common. I try to hold both threads with my left hand when I start sewing. That helps some. If it bothers you, you can also always start sewing on a little scrap piece of fabric first, and then onto your project. Still backstitching at the start of the project fabric. Hope that makes sense. I may have to do a video about this! Thanks for watching!

    Really enjoying all your cushion/pillow videos. What is the best fabric for making cushions/pillows.
    Do you use a canvas type fabric?
    Also to wash the covers would you unpick the stitches and resew?

    When you cut the 18 inches, do you account for a half inch of seam allowance on both ends?

      To make sure my pillow covers aren't too loose, I cut my fabric same size as the pillow form.
