@@emanuelevitale5325 Or a _very_ good friend in aggro boros. It requires the hand to get dumped. The lower the curve, the more powerful it becomes.
@@emanuelevitale5325I ran aggro boros in 2HG. Which I will admit and preface is slower than 1v1 BUT I had to discard that case and it would have been amazing for that game.

I feel like this set is so close to being very fun but they yet again pushed the powerlevel a bit too much and the new boosters make the issue worse.

I think you hit the nail that aggro is a major Bo1 issue. I was having very little fun playing magic for a while, then switched to playing only Bo3 and my enjoyment has been night and day
Thanks for your comment about not doing so hot in your earlier drafts. Makes me feel a bit better about my own miserable performance. Best I could do so far was 3-3. Sealed was better, likely because of variance and because in the very first days, nobody knows what they're doing... 😅

Sure, if you were at 8 or less life, it might be worth considering, but giving your opponent A DEMONIC TUTOR rather than going from 16 to 14 against a board of 1/Xs?! You are never dying to that 2/1 menace...
How on earth did someone get 2 Mole Gods in draft. My experience in draft is my pick 1 rare isn't even something you'd want in a deck.

@@boxingboys oh, there is no doubt that he is above average at the game. It actually takes more than that to keep a positive win rate tho. He is very good at multiple aspects of the game, bc he has been playing for many years. This set is really swingy tho. I don’t really care for sets like this. If you can pull one or two bombs and draft agro around them, it’s like impossible to loose when in the play; and pretty much set on the draw as well if the OP has any slow plays. Do that and you’ll be winning on turn 5 every game. Not much fun at all. Just gem farming.
@@jasoncollins218I've discovered one silver lining of Arena's shuffler/RNG nonsense - I'm playing a lot more paper Standard and drafts, and I'm enjoying it because that was the majority of my Magic life from like '97 til I quit in 2008. I'm grateful for Arena being there to help hook me back into the game during Covid, but I'm beginning to migrate back now that paper Standard is back and I've got a great crew of old buddies that draft twice a week, including several og pros. 🤘

Do anyone had "graphical" issues since last upgrade ? The blocking arrows indications are simply missing and we got dirts instead of the arrows when creature attacks :{
literally everything just works worse since the last big update. I had power/toughness not showing for a bunch of creatures for no apparent reason. also had the arrow issue too.
Yep! I got that bug! It ruined a couple of games for me
most of the old card sleeves are blacked out for me since the update on tuesday. it's hard to tell how many cards are in my opponent's hand at a glance. at least sparky isn't greeting me on the home page after every match anymore

Ouch :( Good deck and yeah aggro decks are pretty strong. I think the Disguise mechanic does slow down the game in a good way, but I wish the formats were slower.

Curious why you value shock so high? I haven't played this set much but it seems a little slower, and the most common shock target has ward 2.
so its 3 mana to kil it vs Murder being 5 mana to kill the same creature?
Agreed murder isn't that amazing in this format, but atleast it can kill a transformed creature.

31:15 I REALLY feel like Sanguine Savior is MUCH better when played face up (if you have the mana for it). Pretty much draining for 2 every turn is more valuable than theoretically gaining 4+ life off the flip trigger.
Like, he wasted 2 mana cuz he just flipped it up later!! Maybe he forgot the Thoroughfare could make Black mana to play it face up.

Went 7-2 in my first draft with RB aggro, so many people trying to force the durdley 5 color deck that just gets mauled by any decent curve

Really not loving play boosters. They make draft worse with too many rares and mythics, but they don't feel as good to open as set boosters. Just the worst of both worlds.
Watchdog is great in boros
The mythics are complete *BS* and MOM levels of "You win" but white is also insufferable with its "Now everything is indestructible and they have a bunch of fogs, enjoy passing turns if you don't outright loose!"

I played two copies in a golfari draft of recent and got destroyed by gruul and boros aggros, 0-3. Guess how many hands i had turn two useless menace boy?

Crimson Pulse is insane, right?
On paper it's great, but I've played against it and had my opponent deck themselves. Bombs in this format are so good you can just out value that or create a threat they don't have an answer to.

Formats have definitely been getting more and more aggro-focused over the years. It's almost like they took the lesson "Games should push towards ending" and exaggerated it into "Games should just be over and done with as soon as possible".
Honestly I wouldn't mind if you didn't play the set it's boring as hell.
This format is better than the last format, by a lot.

Not to be to harsh on Nummy here but he's complaining about Boros decks while playing a Boros deck himself. I've been playing the game for a year now and I'm pretty sure the matching algorithm favors mirror matches. It's a very simple (and somewhat lazy) way to try and force fair matches.
My favorite kind of empirical data.
The reason you see a lot of mirrors in limited is that the better players play the best decks a lot more often and since the pods are unranked, those go into the diamond+ queues and lead to disproportionate levels of aggro.

@@emanuelevitale5325 As you'd expect in a game of random matchups. There's also the fact that these W aggro decks are atm the best deck so the further you go up the wins in a draft the more likely you are to be playing against similar decks.
That's not true. You'll see so much WR and WU because statistically those decks perform well and so many people draft after statistics.

I've been playing draft consistently since LOTR, reached mythic in WOE, LCI.. and this set feels very .. bland?
There was one time I got tireless tracker from the list and that was fun.. but I'm only practicing for the qualifier play in. Gonna hold onto my gems til the next set
Set is trash just like every set for the past 6 years. Go broke Hasbro. Can't happen soon enough.
