A spile is a a small wooden peg or spigot for stopping a cask.
I certainly did not expect my first ever first-guess solve to be on Fibble, but it was the first word I thought of
I was, indeed, yelling "SLICE" at the screen since your second guess
No hard mode just lookin for contradictions got it in 1 today!
