I still don't get why people hate Emin this aggressively, she's nowhere near as pedantic as most recognized artists, she's just doing her own thing... Probably some kind of jealousy.

Of course we're jealous...just like we're jealous of artists who become famous even though their art is not that good e.g. Rothko, Jackson Pollock, Tracey Emin, Robert Ryman...a toddler could do that easy art. It's just very surprising how such simple art sells for hundreds of thousands or millions when so many people can easily replicate it. I appreciate difficult art like Leonardo Da Vinci's, Michelangelo's and Raphael's.

You can also learn to appreciate a poem you previously didn't care for by looking into its context, hearing about the poet and what ideas they were going for, what frame of reference the poem is built into. I'm sure you would agree not every good thing is obvious at first glance ?
