      I wouldn’t say an “easy 20 per night”… He was notorious for disappearing on offense and was always right around 20. Pippen was at his best when you had him simply distribute on offense and focus on defense. That’s why he was such a great pairing with Jordan. Two all-time perimeter defenders and Scottie wasn’t going to be trying to dominate on offense. He was typically pretty passive there.

      Stoudamire wanted to get traded to the Blazers in 1998 because the Raptors didn’t give him enough help on offense, so he got what he wanted carrying less offensive load on the Blazers.

    Great upload. It's ridiculous how many skilled post players were on that Blazers team. Rasheed, Sabonis, Pippen, Smith, and Bonzi Wells could all do damage on the low/high block. Too bad for them they ran into a very motivated Shaq. The WCF was the true Finals that year.
    7:06 Pippen's playmaking was a thing of beauty in that sequence. Stoudamire and Anthony were average point guards so Pippen was the best playmaker on that team. Without him the Blazers didn't have a fast break.

    What's with the SLOW-MO commentator voice though??!! Pippen was playing like he wanted to add a ring to his 6th; you can tell he was in the groove just by reading his body language and multiple change of directions on a dime, and dropping those dime passes too!

    According to nba.com, Scottie Pippen was basically everything Micheal Jordan was, without the high ppg and with a lower shot percentage. And yet Scottie had something Micheal Jordan didn't and that was more rebounds, (slightly) more assists, and, in general, better leadership. I don't think I'm the only one who thinks Micheal Jordan was a bit too narrow minded in his pursuit of victory and this made it hard for him to lead a team. Scottie Pippen, by contrast, was not as single minded. He enabled his team better. I think most of this stems from MJ's athleticism and good shooting arms. That was how he won games. In comparison, Scottie Pippen had to use his team more to win.

      Nagh, You misss some points, pal. MJ "created" Scottie and Scottie could become No.2. MJ's strongest linclination towards his comptency is such that Bulls had been able to take 2 3 peats. Without him, I bet Bulls had never been able to achieve. Scottie just grew enough to be like Michael.

      +Tony Parker Remember, Mike wouldn't have won those six titles without Scottie. Mike couldn't shoot NEARLY as well as Scottie. He got his defensive edge from playing alongside Scottie in those title years. Scottie was slightly taller, his hands were bigger, and his arms were longer. Pippen could punk you more often than Jordan offensively. Pip is underrated to this day, and doesn't get the respect he deserves from most people. There is a video that is chock full of comments about Scottie from his teammates, contemporaries, coaches, and other experts. Do your research, bro.

      luke bryce Naw Scottie wouldn't have won 6 titles had it not been for MJ, they both worked well together no doubt but let's be real he ain't winning shit without MJ. Mike was a great shooter with or without Pippen lol. Pippen was not known as a scorer never has been, MJ was a way bigger threat offensively than him. I've seen both play man, MJ was the team but him and Scottie both worked great together.

    How did this Blazers team lost to the Lakers is beyond me.
    They had veterans legends a little past their prime in Pippen, Steve Smith, Detlef Schermpf even Arvydas Sabonis who's not a legend per say but was a unique center. And a copule of young hungry bucks in Rashed Wallace and Bonzi Wells, not to mention prime players in Brian Grant and Damon Stoudamire...

    • @JSwanKilowJ
      @JSwanKilowJ 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      part of the problem was that Sabonis fouled out, albeit on some iffy calls. the Blazers had to rely on either Jermaine O'Neal or Brian Grant to guard Shaq, an already nearly impossible task, and neither one of them really had the combination of height and strength to do it. it was also coaching decisions that hurt them. they decided to come off of Brian Shaw, and he started the spark with the two three pointers that began the comeback rally. I think what really did it was Scottie Pippen fouling out. he was the leadership and their confidence. once he was out, they kind of lost their way. but even so, Lakers escaped from that game by the skin of their teeth.

    This was the last time the Malone/Stockton era Jazz played past the first round of the playoffs. They got massacred the first 3 games of this series and looked like they were going to be swept in humiliating fashion but they came back with a lot of pride in G4 and G5 and made the much more talented Blazers work for it.
