    The Blazers crowd was rocking back then. My first game was in 1999 and the crowds back then just seemed like they had more energy and excitement and they were LOUD.

      If you look at it, this Blazers team had better talent than the Bulls except for MJ.
      Sabonis better than Longley, Rasheed not quite the defender Rodman was but more talented and much better offensively, Damon Stoudamire better than Ron Harper offensively but not on defense. But the bench of Portland was even better with Schrempf, Brian Grant, Greg Anthony.

    Portland had so many great players.
    I did not remember they played againts Utha- for Utha it was over- They where at there prime in 1997-1998 . John s and Karl malone had a great run
    and should have won a championship -so much effort for so many years.

    I was at this and every Portland home game that year. We had The Rose Garden rocking and rolling. Truth be told, we dreaded facing Karl Malone. Absolutely one of the toughest competitors I've ever seen. We had the better team than the Jazz at the end of the day. A fun game. Electrifying playoff basketball. Go Blazers.

    To think Malone and Stockton went against a completely different Blazer squad in the early nineties with Drexler, Porter, kersey Williams and got beat by them at least a couple of times in the playoffs, now 8 or 9 or ten years later, they're both still there getting beat by the same team with completely different players, I don't think Trail Blazers are words Malone or Stockton ever want to reminded of.

    Several thoughts
    1. Portland was the much better team.
    2. Utah was lacking offensive weapons.
    3. Bryon had a good game but he sure choked at the most important time. He only had to make 1 basket.
    4. The Jazz were on a decline at this time.

      Jermaine O’Neal was glued to the Bench in Portland. The trade work out for both sides, Pacers got Jermaine to thrive with them being a starter and the Blazers were able to bolster their frontcourt depth getting back Dale Davis to support Arvydas Sabonis.
