    If those are 12V leds then they are WS2815. The BI and BO channel is backup signal. If one chip burns out then the signal will bypass that led and the rest of the leds will continue to work. I tie both channels together where I inject the signal and then run them parallel for the remainder of the run.

  • @jaremi40

    the BO and BI is Back-up Out and in, it is for when a chip fails. Normally when a chip fails no data is pushed to the next LED so every chip after the broken one just stops updating. BI is in parallel with DI before the chip , and I would assume BO is in parallel with DO but I'm pretty sure that this is his proprietary design because the others don't have a BO. The point is when a chip fails the BI signal still gets to the DI of the next chip, allowing the rest of the chips to still update color.

    I pick up cool little tips and ideas from almost every video of yours I watch but this episode saved me a fuckton of money and time soldering. I've known about ghost sequencers for years but had no idea they had come up with something for neopixels. I actually started programming my own sequences manually from an arduino and it was time consuming to say the least. I'm working on some custom rx7 tails and have over 60 channels to control in just one tail, not including the middle section with the third brake light. Love the knowledge man, keep doin you

      @@flyryde I've loved them so far! I've had them for 6 months and the only had one issue and that wasn't any fault of the lights. We got hit by a tropical storm and I submerged a fog light and flooded the housing. The company I got them from was super nice and sent me a replacement halo and all is well. My only complaint is that aside from the usual solid color wheel their control boxes are all preset sequences and colors (even though it has 200 presets). I was really hoping for the ability to create my own sequence/color combinations that fit my car better.

    • @triple_threat_lightz
      @triple_threat_lightz 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Vipertruckguy you can create your own color combos, on the menu when you select a sequence you add, remove, or replace a color there's 6 rectangle blocks you click on one make sure it's highlighted and you can change the color in that sequence, for sequences you can slow it down, get smaller or bigger gaps etc....

I'm seen enough videos to know I want customized patters/turn signals/brake light patterns/F1 braking flash, but don't know the whole process well enough to try just yet. I'd very much like to know more about how you do your design process as that's the part I'm the most nervous about. The last thing I want is to design it/buy all the parts/build it and it looks like a drunken 4th grader did it when I'm done:). Like in the headlights above, you mentioned the angles of seeing it/not seeing it and how that brought you to choose the top for drop down lighting, leaving the stock ones in, I thought that was pretty damn clever of ya:). I'm eons away from building mine, but when I see the wires soldered and your cable management, I think I could give it a try:).

    • @flyryde
      @flyryde  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Karopine haha, glad you liked that. I’ll give you one little piece of advice to put you more at ease with it all. Just do what seems to naturally flow. I think of customizing lots of things with the same idea as Judo, where you don’t force anything, or go against the natural design. I like to enhance what’s already there, as though it were meant to be that way.
      I see LOTS of mods that have no place in lights, like big ugly tubes, or shapes that don’t naturally compliment each other.
      If you can chop things up that are never seen, go for it. If you’ll have to try too hard to make it look right, don’t do it. Subtlety beats out Tackiness every time 👌

    looks great! you wrote few weeks ago that adressable LED weren’t enough powerful and dangerous since if one fail the others leds will not light.. I agree but adressable is so nice to work with. do thoses led has comprable lux output as the one you normally use? regards

    • @flyryde
      @flyryde  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sebastien D'Amours what I mentioned before now was that the addressable aren’t as bright of a solution as normal LEDs. That’s because tons of crazy bright LEDs can be packed super close together without heat issue. These addressable will suffer from heat issues as it is, especially when sealed inside an HID or Halogen.
      I wouldn’t sell custom tails with addressable for brake lights, since it’s then a safety issue. If someone slams into you from behind, and says they couldn’t tell you were braking, sues you, and wins... you’re gonna want someone to blame. Not worth a few hundred bucks to sign up for all of that nightmare. That’s my take anyway.
      Addressable is cool, but mainly for special bonus effects that can be enjoyed in low light, like at night.

    WS2812B and SK6812 are outdated and should no longer be used in a vehicle application... SK9822 and SK6822 are preferred over SK6812, and WS2813, WS2815, or WS2818, should be used instead of WS2812B... But HD107S is probably the best addressable chip currently available, it is an upgraded variant of the APA102, APA107, and APA102C chipset... APA102 and its variants are commonly referred to as Dotstars (adafruit), while the WS2812-13 and the SK6812-22 are often referred to as Neopixels (adafruit). Neopixels are the older style... I would recommend a HD107S or other APA102/107 variant, especially when attempting a more permanent installation on a vehicle.

    EDIT - There had been a problem with Ghozt Lighting's discount not working correctly with the Flyryde promo code, but the issue has been resolved and entering "Flyryde" at checkout gets you a nice 10% discount on the Blueghozt controller.

      Imdb Truth what did you buy?

    • @imdbtruth
      @imdbtruth 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@flyryde I was about to buy the Blueghozt Lite controller for $99.99, which actually comes out to $113 with shipping and tax.
      But yeah, you should tell them to forget that promo code... It's just not a good look for them to be issuing coupon codes that only offer a 0.3% discount, I'm offended on your behalf... But it's also not a good look for you to be cross promoting for them and telling people to use your brand's name as a promo code that's only worth 0.30 cents for every $100 spent... No discount is better than that discount... A 0.3% discount just makes people be like WTF why'd they even bother with this promo code...

      Imdb Truth Thanks for catching the bug. They fixed it and are issuing you a refund for the amount that should have been discounted.

      @@flyryde Thanks bro, but I hadn't actually placed my order yet, so there's nothing to refund at this point... I did go back to their website and tried again this morning, but unfortunately it still only gives the same 30 cent discount... I've contacted Ghozt Lighting via email to ask them what's up with this...
      The only reason I'm even aware of their products, is because you featured it on your channel... So I just don't think it's cool of them to only offer a 0.3% discount for your subscribers... I'm not looking for a huge discount, I mean 2 or 3 dollars would be better than nothing, but 30 cents, that just kinda irritated me.

      @@flyryde Ghozt Lighting just contacted via email and confirmed that the discount code should be good for 10% off, which is a very nice discount! I'll talk to them and get it worked out... With a nice 10% discount, I'll definitely be buying today. Thanks for your help bro!

    Custom headlights I'm building for a Chevy avalanche. I will be figuring out some type of diffuser I just can't figure out how I want to do it I should have bought denture LEDs but it still looks pretty cool. I use Arduino and everything runs off of ESP 32 so pretty soon the whole truck will be done and I'll sinked together.

    Your previous videos you talk smack on any adressable technology, but now (with your vendor hookups and shoutouts of course) they're dope and the shit? Meh..

      Matt Young pay attention. My video didn’t talk smack, it poked at dumb ass comments from know-it-alls who shoulded all over over me with theoretical ideas and pontification about things they clearly haven’t experienced with their own eyeballs. “You should just use addressable LEDs instead of all that wiring.”
      I don’t know dude, pretty ignorant comment if we’re gonna play the call people out game. I don’t, and won’t use addressable LEDs to build GTR bolts, as I stated in that video. I will use the thing my buddy Cory said he really wanted, and I’ll use the best possible parts available, not just something a rando company hooked me up with.
      You always know if I said it I think it.
