Ilayaraja is a musical revolution. Time will come Tamils will appreciate his genius. At least the world has recognized him and schools in Europe studying his music. In India he is not recognized. India is not his level yet.
I am proud to say Shri Chandrasekhar was my inspiration to learn the guitar. I used to go to his house in Tnagar where his group the " Missiles" used to practice. I learnt many Shadows and Ventures melodies just watching him play.

Interviewer had no clue about most of the songs. He was quick to move to the next question. While he was respectful towards the guest Mr. Chandrashekar, and was generally pleasant, the lack of any research on the subject was appalling, to say the least. He neither had any idea about the body of work of the musician, nor any good understanding of the Tamizh film music of the 80's and 90's! It's not surprising, though. Most TN journos unfortunately fall in this category, be it in big TV networks or TH-camrs. Having said that, I thoroughly enjoyed the anecdotes shared by the guitarist par excellence, Mr. Chandrashekar. Thank you for that!
The title is misleading.. it is not Sekhar who did the background score, every sound we hear is from Raja sir's notes. All Sekhar did was to split Raja sir's notes for different instruments. Unlike our musicians who can play anything out of kelvi gnanam, western orchestra need notations for every instrument seperately for every sound, this is where Sekhar assisted. His contribution is mamooth, there is no doubt about it, bit it has to be clarified that background score is written by Raja sir only, helped by by his team in various ways, and played by Hungarians at Budapest, thanks to Kamal. If we have to say thanks to Kamal for helping Raja sir to have the Budapest musicians play for him, we have to thank Sekhar, Puru and his entire crew as always for making Raja sir's imagination to come true.
Mr.Rajaram Bala, what I thought and wanted to emphasis just upon listening to this interview had already been written by you. Mr.Chandrasekar was bit hesitant in praising Maestro in some places. All compositions are by Maestro only. Chandrasekhar was just musician playing Maestro's compositions. The music notes of 40 kgs composed and written by Maestro were just just fed into the computer and segregated for that 90 piece orchestra by Chandrasekhar. That was it. No doubt, it was a great assistance to Maestro. But the wonder was those composition (scores ) weighing 40kgs of Maestro's work hand written by Maestro himself. Mountains may fly, Oceans may dry but not the music of this legendary composer, Maestro, isaignani ILLAYARAJA. He is the God of Music - Jeeva
As a person lot of people might dislike Raja sir, but in terms of the music he has given for us, I often feel he is directly sent by god, to do mind blowing achievements and ever lasting music..The god of music Ilayaraja sir ❤❤

One of the most honest - speaking in an interview I've ever watched. Made me laugh heartily and cry on hearing many spontan😅eous descriptions. A God blessed musician like him can talk but honestly, innocently and sincerely only. His references about the Maestro are devoid of any flattery or exaggeration. May God bless him with good health and faster healing. No doubt God creates little Maestros too to help the Great Maestros he creates.

Interviewer had no clue about most of the songs. He was quick to move to the next question. While he was respectful towards the guest Mr. Chandrashekar, and was generally pleasant, the lack of any research on the subject was appalling, to say the least. He neither had any idea about the body of work of the musician, nor any good understanding of the Tamizh film music of the 80's and 90's! It's not surprising, though. Most TN journos unfortunately fall in this category, be it in big TV networks or TH-camrs. Having said that, I thoroughly enjoyed the anecdotes shared by the guitarist par excellence, Mr. Chandrashekar. Thank you for that!

The title is misleading.. it is not Sekhar who did the background score, every sound we hear is from Raja sir's notes. All Sekhar did was to split Raja sir's notes for different instruments. Unlike our musicians who can play anything out of kelvi gnanam, western orchestra need notations for every instrument seperately for every sound, this is where Sekhar assisted. His contribution is mamooth, there is no doubt about it, bit it has to be clarified that background score is written by Raja sir only, helped by by his team in various ways, and played by Hungarians at Budapest, thanks to Kamal. If we have to say thanks to Kamal for helping Raja sir to have the Budapest musicians play for him, we have to thank Sekhar, Puru and his entire crew as always for making Raja sir's imagination to come true.
Mr.Rajaram Bala, what I thought and wanted to emphasis just upon listening to this interview had already been written by you. Mr.Chandrasekar was bit hesitant in praising Maestro in some places. All compositions are by Maestro only. Chandrasekhar was just musician playing Maestro's compositions. The music notes of 40 kgs composed and written by Maestro were just just fed into the computer and segregated for that 90 piece orchestra by Chandrasekhar. That was it. No doubt, it was a great assistance to Maestro. But the wonder was those composition (scores ) weighing 40kgs of Maestro's work hand written by Maestro himself.

Unfortunately, he passed away recently.
One of the most honest - speaking in an interview I've ever watched. Made me laugh heartily and cry on hearing many spontan😅eous descriptions. A God blessed musician like him can talk but honestly, innocently and sincerely only. His references about the Maestro are devoid of any flattery or exaggeration. May God bless him with good health and faster healing. No doubt God creates little Maestros too to help the Great Maestros he creates.
