    I really enjoyed how this video was setup, having different riders with different skill levels pushing this bike, then having your honest feedback about your personal riding level being more towards XC really makes this the most professional video I've seen from you. This is insane value for under 2k, local bike shops need to take note and offer better value to those who want a full suspension but doesn't want to spend over $2500 for the same spec bike. Polygon is creating tons of competition and they're my current favorite value brands by far, sick video Kev 👌🔥

    I can also attest to the bike. I've had mine for around a year, size large, 29r. It was set up perfectly out of the box. Shipped quicker than I expected and still handles incredible! I'm still learning and getting my cardio up but haven't had any issues with jumps and drops under 2-3 feet. Just a great deal!

    For that price, this sisku T7 is very impressive. I was considering a giant stance, but this T7's fork alone out performs giant's in-house fork, not to mention it comes with a dropper with 150mm...very nice...

    Got my Siskiu T8 in the summer of 2021, was delivered pretty much in perfect condition (with sufficient grease in the headset!), setting up the bike was relatively straightforward too (other than a flimsy dropper post cable attachment). Been rock solid so far, paint's still shiny while the bearings don't make a noise.

    I have the D7 and its head tube angle is 67 degrees. That may be more to your liking. Its considered a "down country" bike where the T7 is a trail bike. Great video!

    I have had the T7 for over a year now, only issue I had was the dropper lever was flimsy. Came in the box perfectly set up.

    I love my Sisku T7. The only changes I have made are the pedals and the seat. I prefer composite pedals and it was a cheap upgrade. I also swapped out the seat. I found that the shiny portions of the Entity seat cover tended to stick/grab my shorts as I was riding. Other than that, it's a very capable bike and can easily be upgraded to even more plush components if desired. It is by and large some of the best bang for the buck in the mountain biking world right now. Oh, and the first order of business is to yank out all of those reflectors unless you are riding trails at night. :-)

    My friend just got the Polygon Sisku D8 and he loves it. It's a little more at $2300, but it has a fox float front and rear setup and he absolutely loves it. Great purple and black color scheme with a Shimano SLX derailleur. I rode it and felt and shifted great right out of the box.

    I was super close to buying a T7 last year, when I did the math and the T8 was only $300 more, but came with a fork/shock combo that was worth about $1,200 more *and* you get a full Shimano SLX drivetrain. So, I ride a Polygon Siskiu T8, and that thing is a beast! 😀

    I was watching this video when I suddenly noticed footage filmed at Baker Creek Preserve's downhill trails in Knoxville TN. I've ridden there countless times and the first trail shown (right as Kev brings up his friend borrowing the bike) is called "Best Medicine." I've ridden that downhill so many times I flinched when I saw it. Anyway, I'm just commenting because that's a fairly technical trail and you get a sense of that from the clip. I've only heard good things about Polygon bikes and I'd certainly expect a bike spec'd that well to take a pounding. The footage shown of Kev's friend riding various trails at Baker Creek really is testament to that. That particular park is fairly hardcore and Kev's buddy is riding more aggressive lines than the video really shows. (Edit) Also just wanted to comment that when his buddy crashed, it really wasn't his fault. That's at the end of about a 1.5 mile downhill and the exit is obscured until the last second and is tricky to navigate. It's nearly impossible for someone new to those trails to NOT mess that up.

    Have had this bike for 2 years now the green/yellow 29r version and it's been a great bike that keeps up with bigger brand bikes. From Chunky trails to rock drops to the bike park it does it all. The T7 is worth every penny and then some. Where I ride is Souther California 65 degree head angle is perfect. Anything steeper will be very twitchy going down the trails I ride.

    Handlebar is probably ZOOM, you can see it on the sticker on the right side. It is worth noting that Shimano 410 hubs have cartrige bearings, unlike the 400 with ball bearins, and the cable in shifter probably fell out at 09:40 :). Overall, this is very well equipped bike, and it's hard to find something better at this price level.

    I really like Polygon bikes; they offer a great quality-price ratio. The color selection of their bikes seems to have improved. I personally owned the Siskiu D7, which was super lightweight, had excellent components, and felt awesome. However, I experienced three crashes, and in each one, my left ankle got stuck between the frame and the crank arm. Especially in one accident, I endured intense pain for more than 20 minutes before finding a way to extract my leg from the bike, all while being in the middle of a hill with no one close to assist. So, I concluded that there is an incompatibility between this brand and me, or it might be that the bike's design positions the bottom bracket too much to the rear in relation to the frame. In any case, my current bike is a hardtail that allows my ankle to fit between the frame and the crank arm loosely.

  • @cup_and_cone

    Hell of a lot of bike for $1700... would easily outperform a bike twice the price from 10 years ago. Pretty impressive how fast MTB has evolved.

    • @flowingmarc
      @flowingmarc ปีที่แล้ว

      At current sale prices, the specialized status at 2300 is way more bang for your buck than the polygon.

    • @cup_and_cone
      @cup_and_cone ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@flowingmarc Uh, that's 35% more money... that's like me saying the Status is a terrible value on sale at $2300, because for $3000 (35% more) you could buy so-and-so.

    • @flowingmarc
      @flowingmarc ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@cup_and_cone i dont think you understand what "bang for your buck" means. sure the status costs more but the parts makes it much more worth it as oppose to what you get with the polygon. yes u can say that about any other bike but when talking about price to performance, the status takes the cake. Now if the polygon was like 1400 as oppose to 1700, that would be more bang for you buck than the status. but for 2300, you get a fox float x, fox 36, sram codes, better dropper, and a much more capable frame with modern geometry. obviously if your on a budget then you have no choice but to get the polygon. but for those willing to spend the extra cash, should go for the status instead.

    • @terencebracamonte2783

    • @TheWrigle
      @TheWrigle ปีที่แล้ว

      65 degrees seems perfectly in line with pretty much any decent 140-150mm bike these days. If you aren't riding trails that justify a 65 degree HTA, you probably aren't riding trails that justify a 150mm fork in the first place. There are plenty of shorter travel bikes with steeper HTA. It looks like Kevin would be better served by an XC rig then a long travel trail bike. Don't know if it is fair to call something a negative when it doesn't suit your personal use case perfectly. It is actually good to see Polygon making bikes with modern Geo. That used to be the downfall of many budget brands. Decent parts but outdated geo. Seems like the budget brands are catching up as geometry settles.

    Polygon are brilliant. I don't know why anyone would get anything else at the moment. I got an Xtrada 6 for my son a couple of years ago when he was 10. He soon needed a shock upgrade to an air unit, but I knew that going in. (The 7 wasn't available here at the time.) Based on the overall quality of it, I got a T8 ordered for myself. Awesome bike, zero complaints. Replaced the Orion 4+4 brakes with SLX, but that was for feel alone - they stopped fine.
    He's outgrowing (and outperforming) the Xtrada now, so I think I'll get him a T7. Tempted to steal his new frame, I like the more subtle colour better than my retina-scorching pearlescent purple, but I think he feels the same way unfortunately.
    TL;DR Polygon good. Why would I spend NZ$1700 more on a Canyon etc. with lower tier components and near-identical frame (looks and geometry) with less travel? Or another 2.5K on Specialized? Thats a lot of $ I could spend on totally-unnecessary-but-nice bits for the Polygons.

    Glad to see you're doing a review of a bike from Bikes Direct. I have an entry level Gravity bike, which is the baby brother to Guerrilla Gravity bikes. For the money and what I do with it and the limited modifications I've had to make to it, it is perfect for my needs. The polygon bikes are a little more advanced and this one would probably do just about anything asked of it for your average trail rider. I almost bought one of these but it three times the price I paid for the one I have and the use that I use it for, it didn't seem like a good financial decision.

    Agree that trail bikes seem to have become too slack for the average rider. Climbing and XC style trails are a big part of a lot of peoples’ riding but marketing has convinced everyone that only stability on the descent matters. 66.5 or 67 is the sweet spot for general trail riding IMO.

    I've owned 3 polygon mtb's. I feel they are still the best value for money if you are purely focusing on components. If you comprise and get cheap components, it will greatly impact your riding experience but if you are an enthusiast that is really intune with suspension and geometry, there are other brands that work more closely with pro teams and work on geometry and suspension design more in depth, caynon is an example of this.

      Seems way over hyped. I've seen one instance where there was a tiny crack started by the seat tube weld in all the user groups I'm in, and they had a replacement super fast. My '21 t7 has been all over the country, done tons of big air, large drops, and huge crashes, and is just great.

      Don't believe everything you read on the internet. Most cracks are happening because people are either not setting up the fork for their weight or riding. The other issue is people overforking the bike.

    Im worried about buying a new bike because of the geometry. Steep head angles dont bother me and work best on trails I ride. My bike that has a chip is set in steep position.
    Would be interested in what this weighs also.
    Im used to under 30 lb. bikes and not sure I would enjoy the extra heft.

    The 29er version is pretty heavy. That was probably my biggest complaint.

      I also highly recommend taking the bike apart and greasing main contact points. Cranks and headset bearings. Mine was bone dry

    How tall are you and how did that medium frame fit you? Polygon’s website puts me on a large frame (I’m 5’10”) but the large only comes with 29” wheels and I like 27.5” so hoping a medium will fit me

      I’m 5’10” and prefer medium frames. This one fits me well

    I always liked these, but the sizing makes me hesitant. I usually feel best on large frames but don't want 29's. I heard you mention this one was on 27.5, so a medium frame at best, how did it feel on the trail?

      It kinda sucks that 29 seems to be the last man standing. I have 26 and 29 full sus bikes and I prefer the 26. I can accelerate a lot better on the smaller wheels.

      @@johndef5075 yeah my old bike was a 26" and my current one is a 27.5. I don't have much seat time with 29ers other than messing around on friends' bikes, but I don't much care for the steering dynamics. 27.5 has been perfect in my experience.

    In your defense, it used to be 500 dollars more lol. I paid 2199 for my 2021. I'm mildly amused that your only real concern is that it isn't an xc bike.

    I really don't "get" the extra pistons in the brake caliper. I've had many multi-thousand pound cars designed to go 70 plus MPH with single piston brakes. Your adding resistance to your input with extra pistons and the pistons are likely smaller. The power of hydraulic brakes is very high mechanical advantage. AFAIK, adding pistons doesn't increase your mechanical advantage.
    If they have a genuine benefit, could you do a video on it?

      Yeah. That part of the video was filmed and edited before I was actually able to ride the bike myself. I only had 10 mins with it to get some pre-used footage before it got hijacked by another rider. I went by website specs for the voiceover and didn’t notice it was actually Deore until later 🙃

    Buyers beware!
    Everything will be bells and whistles 'till those crappy frames crack at the seatpost/toptube.
    Do yourselves a favour and carefully do your research before spending any money in this "budget" bike brand.
    Remember the old saying:
