Also, understandable to be filtered about ep 1, specially after reading your reason why. It is not a bad anime honestly, it even is one of my favorites (nice action scenes, good strategy, classic fantasy that I adore, good music, great characters and relationships, gritty and makes monsters feel like monsters, etc), but yeah, it's just not for everyone.

The true nature of this "small box" is an artifact believed to possess the power of "resurrecting the dead" in this land. As the protagonist and her party get entangled in the desires of those seeking the "resurrection of the dead" revolving around the "small box," will they be able to bring an end to the series of events?]] And this is just conjecture on my part for the meaning, "When the snow melted away, Yet my world frozen and grey" could symbolize the Guild master dealing with her father's death, but is unable to be over it. "You brought me the seeds and buried them deep in me" could be the vampire girl and her other companions sowing ideas and thoughts into the GM's head about the 'small box' and the rumors surrounding it, while "They say you'll never be erased. You still live inside me, inside me", could be how they try to say despite GM's father being gone, her memories of him still live inside of her. The "Whose life are you offering?" is possibly referring to antagonist characters who are possibly trying to use/sacrifice her to bring people back from the dead and she's possibly growing mad from all of it. "You're gone like the wind. Chasing you, I breathed in deep, swallowing the dust that used to be part of you" could once again represent the GM wanting her father back and quite possibly hoping that the rumors surrounding the small box are true.

The series is great. It just goes a bit too far (for most audiences) on the first episode in showing why you should hate that world's goblins. It's technically a really solid cold open for the series, but it definitely filters out a lot of people with less tolerance to those themes right away.
@Shadow6OO I've never been shy from talking about my past, but trigger warning for those who don't want to see the subject: As a victim of SA growing up, the result of any show touching on that theme is an immediate drop for me. I don't want it to be, but it happens and very aggressively sends me down a spiral even if it's one scene. I don't want to explore a world that close to home. I dropped Heavenly Delusions at THAT episode and will never return to it. I was depressed for almost a week after that because it kinda came out of nowhere. Which while being the point, isn't at all what i signed up for. You can actually find a video on this channel from right after that episode aired where i say I'm skipping a day or two for mental health. That single scene is why.

She and her husband (Tyson Hesse, the reason the Sonic movie was saved lmao) have their own merch line called Koibeat if you just like the style. If you've seen other videos of mine with a fish with a man's body, that's from Koibeat. Honestly really great quality stuff, i love their work.
Based on the manga at least most of the story is about adventures you often see when playing tabletop RPGs, with a focus on goblin slaying of course. If you're interested in those types of stories I would recommend you continue following the story (I should note I don't know how well the anime executes things). Personally speaking I just see the goblin atrocities less as shock value and more as reasons why goblins are not to be pitied but I can see why it puts people off. In other words don't follow the story if the occasional goblin atrocity is not for you.
@@calvinwill1663it still feels like cheap shock; they didn't say it was 'goblin atrocities' that put them off, it was cheap shock. there are ways to handle what it tried to in a way that is respectful, even if it is brutal and shows the entire thing. it just felt like fantasy to me. not for everyone, and it's not because some people don't have the stomach for that topic but because there are good ways to handle it and goblin slayer was not one of those. it's cheap

Yeah lol. I've got my limits, that's one of them. I've dropped series before for the same kind of thing. I don't want that in my escapism 🗿

I gotta be honest I do not think the show is worth watching even after the first episode cheap shock.
Based on the manga at least most of the story is about adventures you often see when playing tabletop RPGs, with a focus on goblin slaying of course. If you're interested in those types of stories I would recommend you continue following the story (I should note I don't know how well the anime executes things).
