In case this fails to anyone else, the trick is not the sanding, that helps too, but normal electronics resin based flux won't work, as soon as I used soldering flux (the brown stuff) intended for copper pipes it worked like a charm.
I really don't understand the obsession with soldering the wires to the battery terminals, it seems like overkill to me. If you use a battery holder the terminals are just touching the contacts and nobody thinks twice about it.
soldering a battery is not recommended use spot weld. if no spot weld use copper foil tape instead. then wrapped it with heat shrink tube

Solder wont stick to these batteries, i even tried it with a 60W soldering iron, does NOT work.
so how to fix this?
This is good but i recommend to use metal paste to avoid battery damage.
Luckily the battery didnt explode 😅
