What a sweet, charming, and lovely young man. I loved him in the show. My favorite moment is the LOOK he gives Nick when he suggests he try playing rugby. It's perfection.

I saw a theory about Tao's hair a while ago that I really liked, that it was for Elle because she got suspended for her hairlength, so he grew it out in solidarity. But I guess there was not any deeper meaning behind it 🤔
tbh i feel like they just saw how beautiful and cool will gao looked and thought they had to make him somehow less ~you know~ hehe
Yes, I've seen Alice confirm this. Unpopular opinion but I actually like his (Tao, the character's hair, not the actor) hair, it fits him 🤗

Tao's hair IS ICONIC. It's my FAV physical feature about him.
How fascinating it is to hear lovely Will talk about all the bts details of different scenes like dancing or fighting. I'm super interested in TV shows/ film productions so this was very informative. Massive respect for him for absolutely mastering those intense and hard scenes!
He did such a great job!
Oh, and if you're not moved by the last scene with Nick and his mom, you must not have a soul. Almost everyone starts tearing up 🥲. Two great actors playing off each other, just superb! And if Kit doesn't get a ton of UK acting honors and/or an Emmy nomination, there's no justice in the world. Joe is amazing, love him, but Kit acted up a storm. Sooooo compelling, so good.

Lovely to hear from William, haven't seen many interviews with him :) I'm not sure why the questions were cut out of this particular interview, it made the whole thing feel a little disjointed (maybe you were tring to cut down on length, but I kinda like long interviews haha). I thought the style used for the previous interviews with members of the Heartstopper cast worked fine and better showed how engaged you were with the person you were interviewing. No hate, of course, but maybe this is useful feedback going forward?

Yes, haha, it definitely wasn't by choice and had we known it would needed to be cut, would've structured our questions differently :) We are still grateful for the time we had with Will, and do have a couple more interviews coming that should be kept at length! Stay tuned!
And your hairstyle in the show… It is iconic and I think many people are going to copy it. Truly awesome

Just a few thoughts:
Imagine my lack of surprise that William Tao is a cat person 😺
Everybody hated Tao's goofy hairstyle but also we all begrudgingly agree it was iconic💈
So cute that Will and Yaz actually went to a play and had a meal together 🥰
One of my fave Elle/Tao moments is when they meet up and do that little cheesy dance 🤭
Imagine the pressure of having to perform a staged fight in front of a stunt co-ordinator who worked on Bond 😳
We need the Louvre scene between Tao and Elle for our sanity 🇫🇷

Hi! We've addressed this on our socials, but we were asked by William's team to make cuts in the interview. It had to be cut by more than half, and we wanted to include as much of Will's responses as possible (hence why you don't always hear the question). We know it's shorter than what you're used to from us, but we hope just as sweet. Will was wonderful and while we're disappointed we couldn't share our entire conversation, we hope this offers some valuable insight into Tao and the show :)

Love Heartstopper, love Will & the cast ... Heartstopper reminds me of my high school time when I was in all boy school and I was gay back then.. then I came out as Trans and then had all the surgeries to become a woman. Heartstopper is the best
