Hahaha you can use a zenithal highlight to do that if you struggle again in future. Just a light misting form the top with white over black will make all the details stand out like mad
you being a tattoo artist in real life explains a lot. When you kept saying "pulling a line" and the way you freehanded the blue "tattoos" on this model, i kind of figured it out, then you said you were. Loving your work, learning A LOT! Thank you! I have been binge watching your videos since i found your channel. And thank you for letting me know about ca3d, amazing!
Thanks so much my dude. Hope to see you in more comments sections in furture. And welcome to the can of baked beans left in the sun that we call the channel.
12:23 LOL, totally understand that feeling from doing the same in my vids. thanks for keeping me company tonight while I work on a Wicked Falcon Commission in 1/4 Scale.
Awesome Ania came out looking stunning. Boy oh boy, I have a long journey in front of me to get to create anything even 1/10th looking this great. I do appreciate your pain you put in to share your style.
Man I loved making them just a pity they don’t do do well on here. I am trying to figure out how to add those bits of info into my normal videos though.
A friend of mine just gave me the link to your chanel today and im IN LOVE with your talent! Im watching all your videos because not only you are A GOD when it comes to painting, but you are also really clear on how you explain things, which I appreciate it! One thing I would LOVE for you to talk about is airbrushing, how you use the airbrush, how you clean it in between colors or not clean it, and how you get those amazing highlights and shadows with the airbrush! pretty please
Thank you so much for watching my videos. I do plan to do a video exactly as you are requesting in the future. Would probably be two or three based on the amount of information just for colour choices alone but yea I’m planning it for soon! I guess subscribe if you don’t want to miss out and turn on notifications if you want to be notified of new videos uploaded
Exceptional work painting this, every small detail and overall color scheme is just stunning man. Great tips as always and thanks for a great vid again!
Thanks for watching! And yea it’s really small on some of the details. That’s why I like to paint miniatures in my spare or down time. To keep those small detail skills building.
Your skin painting always amazes me and gives me something to strive for! Would love to know how you think your paints for your airbrush?! Love what you do dude!
Some times I do stuff and to me it’s natural but I don’t think maybe people need to know that. And I guess this is one of those things. I will make a video to show this.
I understand! Youve probably done that so many times its as common as breathing! I think i would be a very helpful quick video especially for those having a hard time thinning their paints properly ( me im those people).
great video again man. the skin and trim came out amazing. as for feedback for the video. for me personally i like things a little shorter and i think the TH-cam algorithm does aswell. there is sooooo much trim detail on this model, maybe its not necessary to show every single bit. i found myself skipping around a bit when you went back to trim sections just so i could find out more information about other processes you use. as always though man, the content is amazing. super helpful stuff!
I realise it was a really long one but as for watchtime I had more people watch longer so it’s a tough decision to make. I had more views on this then some of my recent uploads and average people are watching 3mins per video but the average watch time on this one is 8mins so I’m not really sure what too do. Trying to think how I can make the videos more exciting. Current meta for TH-cam is 18mins, again, not really sure what to do so just testing stuff out for now.
@@Groundeffected yeah i get you. so i just did a skim through a bunch of youtubers i watch on my subscriptions and checked out their channels. i would say across the board they are trying to hit that 10 to 15 minute sweet spot. however occasionally there is a video that hits the 20 minute mark. maybe in future for longer vids, try use the 18 minute as a cut off point? hopefully that helps as a point of reference. either way though, awesome content as always. really helpful tips!
Very intricate! I'd have to take sooo many breaks on something like that...lol great video, glad you were able to get it uploaded. Yes, what are your products for seam floating? I use things like apoxie sculpt, prefect plastic putty. What is your choice medium for this problem of getting perfect joinery. I'm a small dog guy so cats don't scratch my fancy to much 😆 .
For this one I used milliput it’s easy to sand when it’s dry so just filled the gap and sanded smooth. I can do a video on this sometime. Might be worthwhile for people to see?
With a model like this, where so much of the mass is forward of the contact point, do you make any provisions when prepping the print to counteract droop/sagging? I printed a 1/6 scale model a while ago where the character was leaping forward with one foot being the only contact point, it was hollowed to 1.5mm with a 15% grid infill, but a month later the model had drooped forward by about 30 degrees. Sad times as it was fully painted. I was using an ABS-like resin which I prefer due to it's breakage resistance, but I'm wondering if that flexibility contributed to the sagging? Great video - needs more cat!
Thought I’d replied to this. But what I said (probably replied to someone else lol) was the sculptor made really great keys for this model both feet are anchored well. Perhaps yours wasn’t anchored enough? But being really thin walled and slightly flexible probably doesn’t help much either.
@@Groundeffected It was Sanix's Captain Marvel - maybe one of their earlier designs as the keys weren't good and there was no attempt to hide cuts, still it has still made me very cautious about printing anything with a similar design. In one of your other videos you detailed mixing a flexible resin with a standard one so I was just curious if you'd encountered a similar issue. Will have to go with much thicker walls on areas that are going to be subjected to high torque stresses in future.
@@nrgspike good idea. Perhaps just print those parts with 3mm walls instead. I haven’t had any problems like that and a lot of wicked models for example lean quite a lot as they have some crazy good motion in their statues, none of my leaning statues have sagged some are a year old
For metallic applications, have you tried or thought about trying metallic alcohol inks? Molotow chrome pens come to mind. I know they make non metallic color pens, possibly they make different metallic colors also. the application layers are extremely thin and color saturation is intense. Using their chrome pens is a one pass operation for replacing or representing a chrome finish. Just an idea i love your work and am hoping to start painting figures soon. Thanks for the great videos.
I haven’t tried them no. But I would hate to have to try get a pen tip around some of the corners on the intricate details of the smaller parts. I will look into them though perhaps emptying them to use the ink with a brush would be my way to go as it would be virtually impossible to bend a pen tip like I do with the brush tip. Thank you for watching. And hurry up and start painting lol!
Another great video!! A request - if you recorded it, can you show how you attached the arms? You mentioned filling and sanding the gaps and that is an area I still struggle with greatly.
I unfortunately didn’t record that part. I always seem to omit the build part. I think I may have to be more vigilant and try to add more of that bit in the videos or even do one around prep on it’s own.
I do mostly I don’t talk too much about it but I do add a coat of clear on everything. I use different types too for contrast. And the colour shifts were from green stuff world.
Nice job! Personally I like watching you trim lol! It’s relaxing. Keep it up! Your info/tips are great! Can you do a model with a darker skin tone? Just wondering how you would approach that. Also do you have a vid just using brushwork?
I’ve just done one about blade but I didn’t really focus on the skin tones. I am planning a brush only skin tone video for as soon as I can catch up with the amount of work I’ve taken on. Thanks for watching !!
@@Groundeffected thanks bro! Also would be great to have a vid going through your glue and fill in process when putting your 3D printed parts together. You always have it so seamless! Do you suggest buying an airbrush?
@@jakedamus111 I’ve done a vid on glues before. I’m about to edit the filling gaps video actually. And yes if you can afford an airbrush it will make your life easier (once you’ve got over the first hurdle of learning how to use it , it’s not that difficult) but and airbrush makes things so much faster. But not necessary at the same time. You can do most of the same things with a brush just takes a bit longer
Awesome work as you always do those colors are insane! Correct me if I’m wrong I don’t want to be rude or anything but since those metallic trim, tattoos and all those time consuming task are a lot of work. It seems to me that the skin an hair are a little less worked out then what you usually do. Don’t get me wrong they’re still fantastic and way better that what I can manage to do. But usually you tend to have a little more color complexity, deeper shades, higher contrast on those area. And again awesome work the clothing is incredible the base is just wow. Keep up the awesome content.
You aren’t rude at all. I’ve purposely not gone overboard on the skin for this model. The hair is a tough one as it’s white so really hard to get more detail into a white hair especially as the client was very specific that the hair must be as white as possible. But I do do a slightly simpler version of the skin tones to offset the extra details on the skin. Another friend actually asked about this and I did still do the same technique for the skins it just doesn’t show up as much in a video formatted like this because those extra glazes and darker tones aren’t a huge part of the process for me so when sped up it looks like I never even did them but they are in there just such a short and fast part of the process that it’s almost missed. Thanks for watching my dude. Hope that answered your question!

Looking forward to those brush techniques videos. Pin striping 101.
Damn brush techniques. So simple yet so overlooked.
Holy hell... your freehanding is sooo presice and nice!!..
D.
I wanted to comment on how crazy the work here is, but I lost my words. Amazing!
Thank you 🙏
Damn son, you got game and steady hands. I had to re-print a model from 1:10 to 1/4 scale so I can see where the details are.
Hahaha you can use a zenithal highlight to do that if you struggle again in future. Just a light misting form the top with white over black will make all the details stand out like mad
Awesome line work. Great tip using the glove to avoid rubbing off the paint.
Thank you dude. No glove no love as they say.
Just subscribed (and liked), now I'm leaving a comment for the algorithm - Best of luck growing the channel!
Thanks man. That’s the best thing you can do to help my channel and I really appreciate it!!
30 minutes of pure fucking awesomeness, that gold scroll work FLAWLESS
Excellent video again Brent , that trim looked a nightmare
Man. It’s a hell of a lot of trim!! But my patience is in un ending!!!
Probably my favorite one. The trimming is a harsh work, but the result is stunning !
*The knowledge you have bestowed on me is not taken for granted*
Very nice detail. I appreciate the tips like taking a breaks from all of the tiny details.
Thanks man. Many breaks are needed. Otherwise the brain goes numb and mistakes start to happen.
WOW amazing as always. All that trim would have broken me lol
It almost broke me hahaha
