I've never seen someone nail more impressions, or consistently carry every sketch so well. This is staggeringly Impressive Peter. Very happy to know how truly talented you are but sad to know only one season.
I think of how many hours of content they allowed Alistair McGowan to produce and it makes me weep. This is one of the rare examples of the material being as strong as the impressions.
Just discovered this...only exposure to Peter Serafinowicz before was as Duane on Spaced. Going from that image to his completely out-of-control Kennedy St. King had me howling with laughter. Excellent writing, dead-on impersonations, well-done show.

No more evidence needed than Channel 4 actually has a 24\7 youtube channel dedicated to 8 out of 10 Cats. Seriously. 24\7 hour channel dedicated to a panel show. Only Discovery or Christmas or Porn gets a 24\7 channel. Obviously there's a Venn diagram somewhere that corrolates Climate change, shagging and David Mitchell's middle class rage in a Santa hat into a profitable subgroup... Outside of me
Probably the most underrated sketch show ever. Astonishingly high hit rate for each bit. Hasn't dated like Little Britain. The performances live up to the quality writing. Brian Butterfield is a character for the ages... And Stevie is Stevie Gerrard, right?
I can come back and enjoy these episodes time and again. The humour is so original and densely-packed. Each sketch is like a buffet of comedy, full of nuanced details. And I'm so glad Peter didn't let them add a laughter track - it would have been totally wrong for this kind of subtle, often dark, humour.
Those shows didn't take off either. They just became more recognised after the fact, when their cast went on to become more famous for doing other things and drew more eyes upon their previous work. TMAWL for example, only got about 1.8 million viewers at it's peak. To put that into context, a rerun of the Japanese Grand Prix around the same on the BBC pulled in 2.8 million viewers.
@@jamesinhenley Yes, I am English. It wasn't really "well before" though, TMAWL actually began between series 3 and 4 of Peep Show, so it was aired concurrently and arguably still before PS really got to the full extent of it's popularity and exposure. To put into context, the Mark and Sophie wedding arc hadn't even happened yet when TMAWL aired. TMAWL still never really took off or got noticed at all until after it's initial run, when more people had become entwined with Peep Show after it's own run had ended and people eventually found their way to shows like TMAWL, the live viewing figures for the time corroborate this. Besides all that, clearly a large part of my original comment was referencing the Bruiser example given. Barely a soul would know or remember Bruiser if M&W via Peep Show, or Martin Freeman via The Office and his later woks etc never happened.
What a joy to behold, such an incredible range. A shame the show never got the attention it deserved at the time. I never caught on that Peter voices the character “Mild-mannered Pate” in Dark Souls II as well. Good stuff!

Absolutely brilliant show. I love this first episode now as much as I did over 10 years ago when I first watched it. I'm glad that pete has opened u a niche in Hollywood

"The court found in favour of the ghost which means that basically when I die I'll be in debt. In heaven."

how this didn't get a second series is beyond me
The BBC is notorious for cancelling good shows without giving them a chance, especially comedy shows.

The best - maybe the only - Alan Alda impression i've seen. Fantastic!
