As a local there is one thing I would recommend with Exeter. Get involved in the local community, don’t isolate yourself to just the student community. We need to have the student population involved here in the city to help us thrive as a city, so don’t be afraid to get involved, wether it’s through a local charity, becoming a scout leader (guides, cadets etc) or even getting involved in local politics. Do something to contribute and be a part of the city.
I go to exeter and absolutely love it!! Genuinely couldn’t recommend it more i have met the best people and the campus has such a friendly and welcoming vibe xx

Basically the main reason I want to go to Exeter is to surf. I go woolacombe most years and I’m a decent surfer. Go out the back, catch the green waves and fire down the line kinda thing. Getting a board for this summer myself and am heading straight to croyde as soon as my last exam is over. Looking forward to studying there in 2022 hopefully
Mate I trusted you reviews. However after started my course at York I suddenly realised that despite the city being lovely, the whole student community is under an acute depression. Everyone is so depressed here. What an awful experience.
I went to Exeter for a week. To be honest it's the worst decision I've ever made! As a working class northerner, I found it very difficult to fit in with the predominately white, middle-class and upper environment. People were not very friendly to me or my twin sister. There was even an incident where racial slurs were shouted at one of my flatmates. Of course this is just my experience, everybody is different. I wish somebody would have encouraged me not to take League tables so seriously (although I understand why they are important to some)!!!! Finding a university which suites you as an individual is much more important than the status of a Russell group university.
Really? I didnt want to believe the stereotype but ive seen loads of people saying this. I firmed exeter and im just a normal working class northerner, not posh or rich in the slightest so im quite scared i wont fit in. Im tempted to go through clearing and try and go to leeds but that might be a little too close to home
@@abbiebaldwinbaldwin Hi Abbie, Im currently at Leeds Beckett (I also live near Leeds) I ended up going through clearing, its the best decision I made as Leeds Beckett is a highly underrated university. In my opinion Exeter really does fit the stereotype. However, I would take into account the fact that when I went during the pandemic and we weren't able to mix with lots of people, maybe if I was able to socialise more I would have met more people I could relate to. Do you know people who are also going to Exeter? And have you been to visit the uni?
@@laurahoward980 no I’ve never been I just looked at photos and went on google earth to try and see what the city and the campus is like. I don’t know anyone else that is going either, and I’m not a huge fan of the modules Exeter offers for my course but I love leeds modules. It’s hard to get a scale for the size of Exeter from online but it’s seems pretty small with only a few main streets of shops (I could be wrong idk) but leeds seems much bigger, but I do also want to experience a new city. I’m just so stuck idk which to choose now. I also have a twin sister btw hahah

Exeter is an ok place, however, Leeds is a lot more inclusive and diverse. Even though I had my twin sister, I still felt very alone at Exeter, they even split us up in our accommodation during the pandemic. I don't believe they actually care about students mental health. I'm obviously extremely biased, I could have just been unlucky with the people I met. But I would say trust your intuition and play it safe especially during these uncertain times.

Just received a scholarship from Warwick for 50% off tuition fees, £2000 yearly bursary, and a lot of other support for my A levels, and a 2-4 reduced offer to study BSc Economics. Now that I have this I was thinking of applying to Oxford as I really don’t have anything too lose, and it’s worth a try to enter, who knows I might get lucky.
@Big lad I will start year 13 in September, but it’ll be number 5 I think, because I already hold a scholarship place at Warwick for economics (mentioned above), with the offer ABB instead of A*A*A
So, we got surfing, beach, night life, bar to carry on drinking or recover in the morning. We got a gym, swimming pool, gardens, places to relax. Erm, can you learn anything there except partying?

@@madisonwasai6884 you only make one statement that you send to the five schools that you apply to; having a good personal statement definitely helps, but your grades are the most important factor. I have an advisor from ‘Across the Pond’ that helped me with the entire process.
I went to Keele for undergrad and Warwick for postgrad. If you are a southerner, avoid Keele! I had no choice, this was through Clearing. Stoke is absolutely horrid. And everything said about the city is true. With hindsight, I should have gone to Exeter for postgrad. South West universities have a lot to offer. Warwick was vastly overrated. Campus really ugly. But I banked on the reputation....

@@arshad8420I read about Cardiff because it's one of the uni's I'm looking at but gathered information that,the transportation is even expensive than London.Being an undergrad,I put all that into consideration.Im also looking at York(but not sure because of their weather), Loughborough,Bristol or Brunel.

Doing a postgraduate degree at Exeter Uni. Did one diploma at Bristol Uni before, and I must say the Admin Team at Exeter Uni is much more supportive.

yes, Exeter would be a good place for surfers and I've seen many board shops on the high street, I'm not a surf lover, though😂
