    MY EBOOK RELEASE! - If you are a current or future law student, I have created THE eBook for you. As a first-class law grad who has managed multiple responsibilities, a TH-cam channel and secured a Magic Circle training contract, I thought it would only be right to create my own definitive guide to law school. From preparing, to productivity, to assessment technique, this covers everything you should need to know about how I did it all - and how you can too.
    I have also created a guide to securing those all important vacation schemes and training contracts.

      Hey I'm also applying for gdl next year. I wanted to know what is the student teacher ratio? Also is the staff/ teachers supportive? Friendly? Also how often do you have to give presentations or participate in debates? Sorry for asking so many questions I'm just a bit nervous cus I'm an international student and will be paying so many fees there's no way I can drop out. I just want to make sure that this uni suits me.

      You can, but they will tell you exactly what you need when you get there and you can buy it from the campus bookshop for the same price that they sell them on amazon. You don't necessarily have to buy the textbooks they recommend as I mentioned in my Q&A but it does make life easier.

    • @libertymiles
      @libertymiles  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey I'm glad it helped! I really love Exeter and the course in general so would definitely recommend. At the beginning, I found it a little hard to keep up and like I said we have so much reading set for each module that I had days where I really didn't think I would be able to keep up... but in the end I fell into the swing of it, learned what was important for me to do and what was less important and learned to read faster and skim bits. You definitely will get there, just need a bit of time to fall into your routine. Definitely make sure you go out and do everything you want to because you should try and have as much fun as possible in first year! You'll get there with the workload :)

    Hi Libbie greetings... hope you are progressing smoothly in your studies. I'm wondering if you would kindly say whether you are pursuing law with the hope of becoming a barrister at law? That brings me to ask: is it wise for someone to just do an LLB with the intention of going into another unrelated field later?
    Lastly, would please do a video on the law books that were required reading for you in first year. Thanks for the videos.

      I'm looking to qualify as a solicitor. I think law is a good degree to have, very transferrable content and skills and a well recognised and respected degree. If you think you would enjoy it I would definitely recommend it :) Textbooks will depend on which uni you go to. You will be told by your module convenors what textbooks you can use when you get to uni.

      I didn't do law A level but I've been told that Law is very different at university to A level. Maybe have a watch of some vlogs to see what kind of work I get up to? Assessments at my uni are essay and problem questions - which I assume is the same for most. So lots of academic articles and legal analysis and applying the law to facts that you are given for problem Qs. Sounds daunting and is definitely a step up from A levels but you do get used to it. I would say keep doing your research and see if this seems like a degree you want to do or if there is anything else you might enjoy more. x

    I’m a first year studying law and I have hated doing the readings, I try and do them but I can never make sense of them and have been an utter waste of time so I have missed out several reading lists. Would you recommend me going back and trying to read them no matter what or are the lectures/notes enough? Thanks!

    • @libertymiles
      @libertymiles  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      If you mean academic articles then I would say yes, you definitely need to read them to be achieving a 2:1 and above. You need to reference academics in your essays. I think they’re also important for understanding. If you’re struggling, maybe try and read the intro and conclusion first. The academic’s main argument is the most important thing. Then look at the headings and read in greater depth to find out how they are arguing it. Some articles are hard to understand and I have given up on a couple that I thought I could go back to if there was an essay on the topic. I did some as revision when I didn’t have time to do them through the term. If you persevere I think reading articles is a really important skill and you will get better at it. Hope this helps x

      You don't need to have done an A level in law to study it. One of my tutors even said they prefer if you haven't done it because the way it is taught at A level compared to at degree level is very different. Politics will probably come in handy so I honestly wouldn't worry. I would imagine most people haven't studied law before starting the degree. x
