Arturo Marquez, transcribed for solo piano by Leticia Gómez-Tagle
I was lucky enough to be a member of the Metropolitan Youth Symphony Orchestra of Atlanta for their 30th anniversary season (2019-2020). We were scheduled to play Arturo Marquez's Danzon #2 but, unfortunately, due to COVID-19 we were never able to perform it. I enjoyed playing the piece so much that I found a version transcribed for solo piano by Leticia Gomez-Tagle. I warm up for my piano practice with the piece almost every day because it just makes me happy to play it.
Although I haven't been able to play it in person anywhere yet, I've recorded it for you. It's not the best I've ever played it, but it's the best recording I have so far. If I ever get a better one, I'll cross reference it here in the description for you. I hope you enjoy the piece as much as I do.

Glad you enjoyed it! Here's a link to the sheet music, however, having rehearsed it with an orchestra I took some liberties in places that, for me, kept it more in the spirit of the orchestra version.

Es la realidad me duele mucho de aceptar que la música popular en nuestro país es de mal gusto, corriente y sosa aunque tenemos la capacidad de sobresalir a nivel mundial, en alguna epoca tuvimos a Consuelo Velazquez con su besame mucho.m. ahora la verdad no se ni qué músics mexicana se escuche en el radio y no dudo que aun tengamos musicos y compositores capaces y competentes... pero a la mitad de país le gustan las cumbias y regeton... nunca he visto que haya filas para ir a la sala nezahualcoyotl, Ollin yoliztli, u alguna orquesta filarmonica
