Kennan pronounces Getriebe like we Germans pronounce the German word for corn 😄
Well as a Bavarian, "Getreide" is one of the major ingredients for BEER. And in Bavaria BEER is considered to be "Liquid Bread", so not considered Alcohol at all.
And i'm 100% sure our Engineers at BMW create their Cars with at least 1-2 Beers during Break Time.
Joking aside. Kennan is still the ONLY American ever i heard pronouncing a ton of German Car Words correctly. this is the first wrong one.
For those curious, "Getriebe" is pronounced like "Guh-Tree-Buh"

differenc ist the "ie" to "ei" ... ---> "Getreibe"
Wheat, barley, oats are all "Getreide" with an "D"

Also kinda funny that it's a tie (assuming the only mistake was to add 1 point to Sam), between Doug, Sam and Filippo, because Kennan still loses to all by 1 point, in typical Kennan fashion.
When Filippo wanted a hint on the J in SVJ, Doug should have told him to just jot a word on his board

I learned from Jeremy Clarkson on old Top Gear that "ST" stood for "sanitary towel".

As a former 911 owner, I was ready for those Porsche acronyms. FYI, a 991 without a sunroof or convertible/targa top would not even have the "divot" in the middle of the center console between the buttons - that center area would be blank plastic, flush with the rest of the console cover panel.
SH-AWD is not just the Acura RL, it’s on literally every Acura model that they make now

It's on the 5th gen Honda Prelude. I own one and it's the higher spec model. I'm pretty sure that's the 1st one they used it on
@@just_justin_11I think you’re right. Honda debuted the system in the Prelude but it was manual only. I don’t think it became mass marketed until the Acura RL. Even then, the first MDX said VTM4 like the Pilot. They don’t really fully seperate it until the RL and second gen MDX and Honda’s Ridgeline and Pilot kept saying VTM4.
True, but they were at least right that it debuted on the 2005 RL
Originally, the „K“ in the Mercedes acronyms meant not „kompakt“ (compact), but „kurz“ (short), it was first used for the SSK (Super Sport Kurz) in the 1920s.

Those Challenges and the Podcasts are my favourite new Addition on Car TH-cam, so i'm glad you started doing those!
Also, following Dougs Twitter i'm happy he went on a Trip throughout Europe, especially being in my Area of the Woods (Munich) and i hope one Day he does a whole "Car Review" Trip over here as there are tons of us alone here in the Region from Vienna, Salzburg, Munich and even up to Frankfurt who own a lot of the Cars Doug even mentioned he wants to review but doesn't have the Chance in the USA.
Of course his Trip right now is a Family Trip, and when i'm on a Family Trip, i wouldn't do any Work either except (like Doug does) take Pics of Cars on the Streets and i love those Tweets.
So i hope he and the Family enjoyed their Time in Europe and hopefully he comes over here one Day because Doug especially needs to review my "Wiesmann" Cars, my "Artega GT", but especially my Friends "Maybach G-Class Landaulet" which Doug mentioned in a Video is in his TOP CARS he wants to review.
Don't worry, we won't sell any of them. But definitely do a Trip for Car Reviews someday when it's possible!

Acura RL, the most underrated car in history.
It’s wild that even Doug isn’t aware of what that car really is. He would go wild on its quirks and features. (Especially the 06+ CMBS version). But, he has not reviewed it yet.

Fiesta gang!!! That’s awesome man. My first car was a ‘12 Focus SE a year after high school, then I saved up for a ‘19 Fiesta ST, then I sold that for a Focus ST so I’ve been into those Ford Hatchbacks since 2017 😅 the Fiesta ST is easily the most fun and sometimes I regret selling it 🥲
@@guillermor9207 nice dam my first car was a 05 focus Zx3 5 speed. Loved it and then got an MR2 Spyder now I have the Spyder and my Fiesta ST I can’t get myself to sell it! Perfect daily and fun car!
Sorry, Doug. The only acronym in your whole game was ALFA. The rest were just abbreviations pronounced as a string of letters. An acronym is an abbreviation formed from the initial letters of other words AND PRONOUNCED AS A WORD (e.g. ASCII, NASA, LASER, RADAR).
SHAWD is no joke. Had it on an ‘07 MDX. It was crazy how it turned the car from the rear. That was a great car. (Not so great looking tho…)
VTEC = Valve Timing Electronically Controlled so Doug pretty much nailed it.

Whoever made the question is wrong. Per Wikipedia: "VTEC (described as Variable Valve Timing & Lift Electronic Control, but stands for Valve Timing Electronically Controlled)". Doug alone was right.

You forgot HS means Harmonious Sedan and the concept LF-A was Lexus Future Advance ;)
@@NavGTI LFA was changed after the concept and into its production version. So there's technically 2 meanings. But yeah I forgot the HS, forget they exist I don't ever see them.
@@ethanmckibbin oh yeah you're correct that it has 2 meanings, I just think it's hilarious in the most 'Lexus making up these bs acronyms' kinda way that there are 2 meanings for the same acronym :D As much as I find it hilarious that LS, ES and GS have the S for sedan but then on the IS (which was ONLY offered as a sedan) it suddenly means 'Sport'.
@@NavGTI well the IS was offered for a short period as a 5 door and I've never owned either version. I have been told it's an impractical vehicle for the size and for taller people so maybe they figured sedan wasn't the right idea.

In one example SH-AWD is technically “sport-hybrid awd” on the Acura RLX Hybrid. So Kennan gets a point in my book.
ST does mean Sport Touring on Buicks. Also SH-AWD overdrives the outer wheel while cornering. Honda’s regular system doesn’t

Missed a few Lexus models: ES - Executive Sedan, CT - Creative Touring, GX - Grand Crossover, LFA - Lexus Future Advance (or later) Lexus F-Sports Apex, LX - Luxury Crossover
Some of these make no sense at all. The LX and GX are based on the Land Cruiser and Prado, respectively, which are the antithesis of crossovers - they are serious, off-road capable SUVs.
Zooming in on the acronyms and the participants answers would be helpful.
It would be nice to have the pictures on the tv to be on screen. Some of them are very hard to read or see.
It's funny how even car specialists don't know about these acronyms meanings, but they still stick them on the cars. It speaks to how marketing has some very basic/naïve components

… The A-Spec maybe?? Came with a body kit that is somewhat quirky. And they almost decided to put a V8 in it instead of the J Series V6
Very strange that Doug has never reviewed that car. It is the most underrated car of all time.
Plus, the 06 CMBS model was the first car in the US to have the automatic emergency breaking, aside from Adaptive Cruise. It’s crazy that Doug has never reviewed this car. I think he just does not know.

Acronym = letters are pronounced together as a word, ie. ALFA, POTUS.
Acronyms should be visible to the audience so we can play along no matter what device it's on.

I can't be the first one, but some of these are not acronyms. ST is just an abbreviation.

No it isn't. The marketing team tasked with coming up with the name for Lexus have said themselves that it is based on the name Alexis.
For a future video they should be given the model names of european cars not sold in the us and have them match or guess the manufacturer.
Some of these aren't acronyms but initialisms.
