Not Australian, Butcher is meant to be Cockney but Karl's Kiwi accent is pretty thick. Antony Starr is a Kiwi too but both pull off a good American accent.
Yeah, I wonder sometimes if his effort to not just sound American, but like the original actor DeForest Kelley in the Star Trek remake where he played Dr. “Bones” McCoy is why he sold it so well(I had no idea he was Aussie or Kiwi when I first saw that. I could barely believe it was the same actor who was Eomer from Lord of the Rings).
