Seems most Australians do not like this design, but myself and other Yanks in the comments are fascinated by it. I loved the idea of the Kamp Rite, however many reviews stated it gets way too hot without enough ventilation. I like the no center bar to dig into your back as well as the over head tarp. As I am currently looking into a Cot tent/ Stretcher swag(?) this seems to be the design for me. I would love to see the aluminum replaced with titanium and the fly raised in the center by a few centimeters. Thank you for the video, very detailed.
Aussi here, and I was sold on the idea of no pegs in the ground, besides the quality. Planning a trip to Mt Augustus in Western Australia & have been told it is impossible to put tent pegs in the ground, even with a drill. So this Homestead Swag seems to be the answer.
Look its not for everyone but it has its purpose, I use it amongst other camping gear, i use a Rooftop tent, ground swags and cots, but i would say it is the most comfy out of all them, great comfy bit of gear
We have the double and swear by it. We have over the years made some changes to it though. If we fit the awning I have modified the pole so now they go into the ground rather then the frame to give more head room getting in. We also put a guy rope in the centre of the awning pulling it down to facilitate water run off. We too used an eggshell foam mattress topper and it is so comfortable. Just recently we have also fitted elastic webbing to the top half of the frame because we have found the canvas has stretched causing us to sleep in a hollow.
I like this more than Kamp rite cot tent or Oztrail for double size. Cot tent narrower, more difficult to carry as its just one much bigger packed bag, swag door height lower, need to bend head while entering and unable to sit as bench at swag door but this i can. I think for double size swag, Kulkyne best choice for me.
Looks good but I'd be lost with that complicated set up. I just brought a great Oztrail Easy Fold Tent Stretcher Bed from Tentworld Toowoomba & it just about sets itself up. At only $199, it was a bargain!!
The reason this takes so long to set up seems to be the rope rail setup. But that is what would make this big swag comfy. Most big stretchers have a bar, or bars running cross ways, and that makes the mattress 10 times more important so you don't get a sore back. Having no central bars would be awesome.
I’ve been looking at tents vs swags etc. I’m sold on this one as it’s everything in one. Proper canvas too. I love all the ventilation etc. I can’t wait to place an order for one for a 3 week camping trip coming up next year.
Paul J Avery OutDoors I am doing the opposite and going from a RTT, back to a swag because of the weight on the car. Looking at the Oz Tent RS-1 with the stretcher as a compromise. 👍🇦🇺
I love this style of tent! !!!!😘💕👣. The height seems great for my height. Off the ground too. Sure it has a pretty price 👍. Thank you. Need to find one 😘😘💕🙋👣⛺💯✔
The set up should be designed so that you stay dry while setting up in the rain..dont like the awning flapping all around...no boot bag or pockets...and dont want to have to lay it on the ground for set up or take down...part of the reason for the cot
Patrick Porco very good point mate it has a lot of flaws but just another swag idea I thought was a bit different, I’m a big fan of the cot to I also am in the market for one for my kids, cheers thanks for the comment
Just imagining all the swearing I’d be doing while setting this up surrounded by mosquitoes or black flies. Lol. Still looks like a cool tent though Great idea with the zipper pull.
I had one of those Kamp rite cots, piece of shit, hard to get in and out of, on cold nights the condensation on the inside is like rain. I was glad to get rid of it.
.....couldn’t agree more about the Kamp Rite ....... have the double and the bar down the middle is the “ dumbest “ idea, the whole unit to transport is bulky and the Condensation......is very, very annoying. The concept is great but unsure why they did not get people to test prototypes before final manufacture .......... not a cheap unit and would not recommend to any to purchase ( I am in Australia and nearly $600 to buy !...... and probably made in China ..... )
Best start setting up camp at daybreak & hope you have time to gather firewood & cook before it gets dark ! Now we know where the term American ingenuity comes from, cuz this isn't it, wherever the hell this rig is from.
Yeah mate sure is works a treat I have not had a bug in there yet, apart from the miso she finds a way in some times hahaha jokes, thanks for the comment
Do you think it will be possible to fold up this swag with the frame still attached? That will speed up the setup process the next time. Like this swag all lot bit the setup needs to be quicker
Hi Paul. Enjoyed your vid and learnt a lot. Just got my Kulkyne swag delivered up here to Brisbane and have put it up - took a while, maybe coz the canvas is new and unseasoned. You didn't mention the seasoning process - just wondering if you went through the process of wetting and drying it to make it waterproof or if you just let it season on the run so to speak? Thanks so much for making this video.
Teresa Jablonski the way I season the swag was I set it up on a really hot day and I wet it down and let it dry and I did that about 3 to 4 times and after that it has been perfect. I took the mattress out and wet the inside as well the whole swag got wet and i just let it dry and i left it over night as well.
Alex Gempfer the packed weight of the double homestead swag is 37 kg but that is every thing and its a bloody good swag that will have u out camping with the misses more... hope that helps mate
Way too much time and effort for something that doesn't reward much. You can put up a dome tent, blow up an air mattress and read the entire phone directory before you put this swag up. And on top of that, you dont have space to store shit. Why anyone would want this is beyond me.

That is truly a nice sleep system fantastic stuff thanks dude

Great video mate and great set-up.
Emmanuel Albert thanks
It seems to be made of good material not like camp rite. Nice one mate.
its high end stuff its going strong and I have had it 4 years now
I like this more than Kamp rite cot tent or Oztrail for double size. Charla Ville it looks simple! What’s with you??
Its not as bad as you think and i have a stretcher as well and hands down the swag is more comfy!

It is great on the back no worries sleeping through the whole night and not being sore at all in the morning , Thanks for the comment

Great vid mate 👍🏻👍🏻 kulkyne swags nothing like a good night sleep 👌👌
Very thorough from open to close. Have not noticed other demo's of similar build show this. Repacking is important. Thanks.
No worries thank you
Great show and tell but I would not have the patience especially in the rain. 👍🇦🇺😬
Jimmy Jimmy yes agreed I have converted to a rooftop tent now it was Getting a little tedious putting that one up and down
Paul J Avery OutDoors I am doing the opposite and going from a RTT, back to a swag because of the weight on the car. Looking at the Oz Tent RS-1 with the stretcher as a compromise. 👍🇦🇺
Jimmy Jimmy nice mate all ways good to be light weight out on the road, best of luck with it mate
Great vid and swag but it is a mission setting it up .
I love this style of tent! !!!!😘💕👣.
The height seems great for my height. Off the ground too.
Sure it has a pretty price 👍. Thank you. Need to find one 😘😘💕🙋👣⛺💯✔
would hate to be packing up and setting up as you move daily with that set up
What was the point of showing that long and boring motor start up?
The set up should be designed so that you stay dry while setting up in the rain..dont like the awning flapping all around...no boot bag or pockets...and dont want to have to lay it on the ground for set up or take down...part of the reason for the cot

Great video. How does the fly go in the rain?
Matt Lewis fly goes rally well no problems
Thanks. Is the top cover water proof and would it fit two?
Carolyn Odell I don’t think it would fit two, and yeah it is water proof
That's Waaay better than sleeping on the ground.
Just imagining all the swearing I’d be doing while setting this up surrounded by mosquitoes or black flies. Lol. Still looks like a cool tent though
Great idea with the zipper pull.
Thanks its easy here in Auz mate, not to many bugs to worry about
Is it safe in a bad storm or very windy conditions and how warm in winter
Dm Tnw yeah it’s great you can peg down the ropes to the ground, they do not have to be hooked to the frame
I wish we could get those here in the US, the closest thing we have are the kamp rite tent cots.
Desert Logic you should be able to get them there. I did have to wait 6 weeks for mine to come.
Would you happen to know where? The Kulkyne website only delivers in Aus.
Desert Logic try and give them a call and see if they will ship out of aus might cost a few bucks more but worth a try
This looks real nice but i would choose my xl tent cot way easier to set up and if you accidentally forgot one bag your screwed
there's more than kamp rite tent cots out there.
Kamp Rite cot tent. looks way easier to set up and carry along with you. this thing looks horrible to carry and set up.
Benjamin B that’s why we have Four-wheel-drive mate
I had one of those Kamp rite cots, piece of shit, hard to get in and out of, on cold nights the condensation on the inside is like rain. I was glad to get rid of it.

I love your accent!!...👍😋
Does the base of the swag stretch over the years?
No not at all I will do a update on the swag soon but all is good with it! Still feels brand new
Good video cob.haters can EAD
Thanks
nice tent but to much work. sure it has just the right application, though i would have to find it.
Good video. Was that the single or the double? How much does it weigh?
Best start setting up camp at daybreak & hope you have time to gather firewood & cook before it gets dark ! Now we know where the term American ingenuity comes from, cuz this isn't it, wherever the hell this rig is from.
That was good thanks for that.. I'm thinking of buying a queen size one.
👌👍
A kit home is an easier set up.,does it double as a kite surfer
How much is the price and is there shipping for the Middle East?
What is the wight limit and could myself and my 3yo sleep in it
sharon rance the weight limit is maximum 150kg and u could possibly sleep u and a small child in there 🙂 cheers
Midgy netting! Good to know
Yeah mate sure is works a treat I have not had a bug in there yet, apart from the miso she finds a way in some times hahaha jokes, thanks for the comment
Is this camp waterproof ? I really like to buy one!
Tom Tom yeah it’s all water proof, it’s been through a few big storms now and it has not let any water in at all
how many dollars or euros ? BECAUSE , i live in france
hi, I'm Italian, where can I buy it? could you give me link? Thank you
just jump on the Kulkyne Swag website and you can buy from there
Is it croc proof?
Nope 😂
I like your tent video please make more
Merry
:)
:)
How much weight can it hold ? And how long , The frame don't look that strong?
To much hassle
Do you think it will be possible to fold up this swag with the frame still attached? That will speed up the setup process the next time. Like this swag all lot bit the setup needs to be quicker
Paul Coetser i don't think that is possible with this swag. Unfortunately
just use a cot tent.

This was a great brief on this swag. do you know where I could purchase from ? cheers

I set my wall tent up easier then this thing.
Good show and tell video on the swag
Elizabeth Avery u need to get a swag like this lol
If it's about a tent why put the boat? I lost interest right away.

Sound level is too low to hear what you are saying.
Just wouldn't have the patience with this. Too much palaver setting up

n1x313 I just converted to a rooftop tent as it was a little painful, thanks for your feed back 👍
Hurt my eyes watching this.
haha
Do you need to pull permits to build this contraction?? I’m saying no buenos
Its not for everyone just something different in the market
What a circus if you’re not sleeping in that damn thing a 10 mile an hour wind will blow it over
It can be pegged to the ground as well, You cant be serious and think they would not make it to be secured to the ground, Nice one Mate
