I was born here (Aiken) and still live here at the age of 16. I don't like it. Not many teens do. There isn't much for us! It's all focused on older adults and elders. There's a few things for small children such as playgrounds, which is fine for them, but it gets so boring after awhile. There's a reason people say Aiken's the place where hopes and dreams come to die. Add some things for teens for once. Like an actual mall. Not just a hallway with a few small shops in it. -.-" Plus it's full of ignorant people. There are much better places in South Carolina than Aiken.

Your attitude is terrible as most of the children born in Aiken do not seem to appreciate the beauty in their town. Maybe you should move for awhile and then maybe you will appreciate what you have. I came here from Long Island where there are 7.5 million people and sure there is plenty to do but plenty of trouble, plenty of crime, plenty of expenses and plenty of filth!! You have no idea so please, at 16 years old, before you trash where you live so easily, you really need to have knowledge of what the rest of the world is like. It is so sad but it is only you guys, the young people born in Aiken who complain. Anyone else who moves here raves about the beauty, simplicity, friendliness, economic ease and cleanliness of Aiken :-)

Veronica LaRock My attitude wasn't terrible I was just stating how I felt about Aiken. If I move, then I probably won't be coming back, unless it's to visit family. Friendliness? Noooo... Most adults and teens I see and meet are bitchy, rude and stuck up. Cleanliness? Not really, Aiken should use some cleaning up. Anyone who moves here likes it? Nope. My family is friends with adults who come here because of jobs and 3 out of 4 don't like it. Ever thought that the reason young people don't like it here is because there's nothing here for us? The playgrounds are fine for small children, but don't expect a teen to enjoy it. There's plenty to do if you're old, really young, into golf, into horses or have lots of money. What about the common teen? What's there for us? Nothing, as far as I can see. You like Aiken? Great. I'm glad you're enjoying yourself. I encourage people to live where they're happy. and as you can see... I'm not happy here. It's just a difference in opinion.

Ignorant Aiken resident, here. I moved to Aiken after 17 years in New York City, including working and living on 3 continents. I've been East, I've been West, but I have never found a place as wonderful as Aiken for my current lifestage (married, young kids). This video nails the reasons why our family chose Aiken. I can understand the sentiment that there is less nightlife for young singles than a large city, and would agree, a city is better for this. However, when it comes to putting down roots and raising a family, Aiken is darn near perfect.

of course it's not for teens on the cusp of becoming a young adult. it's for those that have already seen some living, and are looking to settle down in a quite peaceful area with charm and beauty and warmer weather. it's hard to appreciate a place like this if you haven't lived yet.

@@vlarock73 There was nothing wrong with them voicing their opinion. You spent your time in a city with plenty to do and you're older now and moved down south to retire to a slower pace of life like many do. There are many beautiful small towns in the south, but you'll be bored to tears. Many of them are geared toward retirees. What you value and what others are totally different.

Watching this, you'd never guess that one out of three Aiken citizens is black. The town has a horrendous history of racism and violence against the black population. Decent Americans would be well-advised to avoid this backward bastion of all that's wrong with the South.

I've lived in Aiken for 27 years, and it's not like that at all. This is a great place to live for people of all races.

You're not entirely wrong I've stumbled upon the history there but it's like any other southern small town
