- Men's haircutting class demonstration: Also how to deal with the hair growing from rows on the back of the head. Determine the amount to be cut during client consolation. Start the clipper cut on the side of the head with clipper number 4. Hold the head and cut with clippers in a rocking motion. Grab and pull the hair to cut the hair growing on rows on the nape back section of the head. Blend the hair on the sides with clipper-over-comb technique. Cut around the ear and the back of the haircut with a T-liner. Cut the hair on the top of the head with scissors. Blend the haircut with thinning shears; use the thinning-shears-over-comb technique for the sides, and just the shears for the top hair. I have been in the hair business for 20 years now and this video was one of the better demonstration videos I have seen. I would actually like to talk to this stylist because I had a few questions after watching. She was very good and clear. I plan on trying some of her techniques this week. very good video.

I've been in the barber business for 21 years now and I'm at that stage where I'm not inspired much anymore and have thought of another line of work. When I watch these videos they do help with inspiration for the job. This instructer is very good and I'd like to see more of her demonstrations. I've looked on the internet where she works but havent found anything. Dont worry, I only looked for business purposes to see if she had anymore education videos and stuff like that...lol

This is SUCH a good video!!! I have no formal training whatsoever and I cut a friend’s hair based on pretty much just this video and he said it was one of the best haircuts he’s ever gotten! And he’s 55 so he’s gotten quite a few...

4/8/20 - right in the middle of the coronavirus quarantine. Bought a clipper and now watching hair cutting TH-cams to learn how to cut men’s hair. I’ve seen 5 so far and your’s by far is the best !!!!

This is one of the best haircutting tutorials I have viewed. She is so clear, she doesn't stand in front of the camera, she speaks English clearly, and there is no constant loud music thumping along with her demo. I have learned a lot about cutting a basic clipper cut for men and I recommend that she makes tapes and sells them because she is the best.
I'm sorry but somebody has to say it "is the worst haircut I have ever seen in my life. It looks like she used dull pair of scissors and a blindfold, she loses her guide constantly, her client isn't too happy either.

this has really helped alot! i just started cosmo school 2 months ago and we were suppose to do 4 weeks on haircuts and we did what felt like 2 and one mens haircut on our guy manikin and then we threw him away. we didnt even really learn how to fade or anything. my husband asked me to do his hair a few weeks ago and i had no idea how to do what he said was a very simple haircut. so thank you for making this video!

She is really good, but why is it that every single hair cutting tutorial vid has a TON of dislikes? I guess its just a bunch of internet wanna be hair dressers that think they can do it better? This lady is REALLY good and I just am shocked that she has so many dislikes. Its not just her either, nearly every single hair cutting tutorial on TH-cam has a ton of dislikes from people who think they can do it better.
Very good point, thanks. It is because the viewers are mostly looking for a WOW effect than a tutorial, and this is a tutorial, which is harder to do than a 2 minute Wow entertainment that not many can use in everyday hairdressing.

I was able to cut my husband's hair after watching this three times. He is satisfied with the job I did, but I did not get it as blended as you would have done. You are a very good teacher (my husband and I are retired school teachers). Your video made me at ease and made me feel that I could do it. I was very comfortable watching your video because it just gave me a comfortable feeling.
Same here... I literally just cut my boyfriend's hair and used thinning shears over comb to blend and it turned out great and he's extremely happy with results.

Thank you! Skill comes with practice, more you practice the better you will get. Do you know that the statistics shows that clients trust middle age hairdressers more, thinking that they have more experience? I have students who are in their 40s and 50s and the clients at school wait in line for them. I had mother and doughter come to school and both have their own salon and are very successful. Thank you so much for posting this terrific instructional video. Good camera work, the instructor went at a good pace, made sure you could see what she was doing and was very good at explaining what and why she was doing. I was able to cut my husband's hair (for the first time) with great success while all the salons are closed due to Covid-19.

@xxHighChiefxx That's true. You can also explain how do you want your haircut to your hairdresser; example; the sides need to be short, the top longer, etc. Usually, even if the client tells me a name, llike fauhawk, I still ask how long the sides will be, where to leave the hair longer, because some people name a haircut, but expect something completely different; just explain it as far as the length and your desired style is; the name of the cut usually does not tell it all.

I trim my husb hair, eyebrows, ear hair and give a scalp massage with the hair palmade. He loves it. I taught myself the fade. Im not a stylist. He was going to a barber shop where they tell u what haircut u get. They gave him a flat top. It looked awful with his hairline. So I had to learn on the fly

The only thing I would do differently is starting at the crown when you start your scissor cut. Once you clipper cut the back and sides, you need to blend that up with scissors. If you start at the fringe area with the shears, you're starting a blind guideline that could potentially end up not blending in with the back and sides. So it's best to blend the crown of the head first, and work towards the fringe. :)

This guy has a great head of hair. Do you ever point cut? If not, you should. It gives texture to thick hair. I realize that this was made in 2011 but point cutting was being done then. Point cutting gives a different type texture than thinning shears. The last thing this head needs is a blunt cut.

This educational video gives me the idea of 1) how to use a proper clipper comb based on comb's size. 2) Securing the head with one hand and 3) start on the sideburns. 4)Someimes, we need to grab the hair and pull it to get the better result while cutting. 5) To cut the hair on the top sides, comb the hair to the forward. 6) The length of hair remains after clipper cut is equal to the comb' width. 7) To start blending, the first cut wouldn't go upper the eyebrows line just maybe a little, then we start blending. 8) Never use thinning shears for people with fine hair. Because we need to keep as much hair as we can. 9)
To blend, push the comb inside, pull it out and give it an angel. Then use the clipper or scissors or thinning shears. 10) Always clean the back of the neck inder the neck line.
Great, simple explanations and demonstrations. Love the building the walls the onto the roof analogy. My wife tried cutting my hair this way during COVID-19 and did an amazing job within less than 30 minutes. Taking her down to my barber shop to get a job building walls a roofs as soon as the virus is under control.

Thanks for making this video. Some schools think they are "too good" to teach clipper cuts, when it is a practical skill to have when new to the industry. I failed at my first job because I had NO idea how to use clippers or those stinking guards. The precision training will help me later on, but I am having to search out tutorials like this to even get started. SOME places will hire and train, too. My company did not. It was heartbreaking for me. So, thanks.

Then you need to pay more and go to a professional salon. Even if you are a man, it is worth it. The cuts only run at most around $30-$40, and you get a professional who knows how you like your hair cut each time you go in to see them!

in a situation where the hairline is really low at the top of the ear where the skin of the ear connects to the head how would that be shaved off? do you have to use the trimmer to shave opposite of hair growth? or shave downwards?

Simon the best barber tutorial is HFDZK Women’s Barber Shop. He is on You Tube. Check his many tutorials excellent clipper cut barber for women, but the way he teaches, the neckline cuts are great for men. I am a retired 30 year hairstylist,& I have never seen any one as good!

Definitely a Cosmo men’s cut and not a barber cut. I would have faced the side burns in a little more with a half guard a 1. Also, who uses clippers to clean up around the ear? Get a T- outliner.
